This makes the fourth consecutive year for the superstar Brown to co-host the proceedings, and he will also perform his hit duet “Thank God” with his wife Katelyn during the broadcast. The song is a multi-week Number...

James Buchanan “Bucky” Barnes (Sebastian Stan) has gone through a lot in the MCU. He was captured and tortured by Hydra before falling off a train in Captain America: The First Avenger. He was presumed dead for decades before he was revealed to be the Winter Soldier, a brainwashed Hydra assassin in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He was framed for the murder of T’Challa’s (Chadwick Boseman) father and the bombing of the U.N. in Captain America: Civil War. He was forced into couples therapy with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and started to atone for his past as the Winter Soldier.
After all of this, it seems like Bucky deserves a really nice vacation, but the MCU has other plans. Bucky was announced as part of the Thunderbolts lineup at D23, and now Kevin Feige...

Some are even still reeling from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Mackie, who spent summers working for his family's roofing business in New Orleans growing up, understands the importance of safe, stable housing more than...

Anthony Mackie and the stars of Captain America: New World Order got a warm welcome at D23, with a number of new and old MCU actors officially announced to return to the fold.
Tim Blake Nelson, who last appeared in 2008’s Incredible Hulk, will return as The Leader. Carl Lumbly is back as original super soldier Isaiah Bradley after playing him in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Danny Ramirez returns as Joaquin Torres, while MCU newcomer Shira Haas will play Israeli hero Sabra.
Mackie has played Sam Wilson since 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, spending much of that time as the hero The Falcon in films such as Captain America: Civil War (2016). But by the end of Avengers: Endgame (2019), it was clear that Wilson would eventually step into the role of Captain America after Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) gave him his shield.

This article contains She-Hulk spoilers
The last moments of the third episode of She-Hulk introduced an interesting plot development, and I’m not talking about the twerking post-credits scene. As Jen Walters was walking alone at night, she was accosted by four men who turned out to be the MCU version of the Wrecking Crew. She proceeded to easily handle them and sent them running. Thunderball was disappointed to find out that he was unable to break her green skin with a syringe and could not steal her gamma blood.
The group drove off and mentioned something about having a boss, adding some extra intrigue to their sudden appearance. These guys were armed with magical weapons and sent to bust She-Hulk open for someone’s big plans. The question is…who? If these guys are coming off as pre-mutation Bebop and Rocksteady, who is the Shredder, pulling the strings?
Here are some possibilities.

“You’LL Take It And Like It”

The late Peter Bogdanovich called it “the first great detective movie.” That statement is possibly arguable, but there is no question that the 1941 version of The Maltese Falcon was the beginning of something new. Film historians will forever debate what the first film noir might have been, but Falcon is one of the contenders. The film presented a cynical, hard boiled detective in Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart), utilized German expressionism in its cinematography and design, and a pessimistic tone. Falcon also truly launched Bogart into the A-list. Prior to this, Bogart usually played villains in crime pictures, third billed or ever further down the line.
The Maltese Falcon is of course based on Dashiell Hammett’s 1930 novel, originally serialized in 1929. Warner Brothers immediately bought the film rights, and an initial adaptation was made...

The 2022 CMT Music Awards is finally here—and we have every winner from one of the biggest shows honoring country music. Hosted by Falcon and the Winter Soldier star Anthony Mackie and country singer Kelsea Ballerini, the April 11 ceremony aired live on CBS from Nashville, Tenn. However, just hours before the ceremony, Kelsea shared she recently tested positive for Covid. In an Instagram video, the 28-year-old revealed that the "CMT family" brought part of the set to her Nashville home so she can both host and perform virtually. "I am devastated, I am gutted," she shared. "But the good news is that I'm feeling a lot better." While she was...

Marvel’s five-day premiere last week of deeper universe protagonist Moon Knight hooked 1.8 million U.S. households, a figure that ties with the first-frame draw of Disney+/Marvel’s Falcon and the Winter Solider, but is ahead of Hawkeye over the same number of days by 20. That Jeremy Renner-Hailee Steinfeld series clocked 1.5 million in its first five days from November 24-28.
Essentially, the Disney+ Wednesday-Sunday premiere of Loki from June 9-13 remains the most watched for a Marvel series, or for that matter, any series on the streamer. Thor’s brother pulled in 2.5 million U.S. households. Loki also holds the record for the most watched Disney+ season series finale over five days with 1.9M U.S. households, measured from July 14-18.
These figures come from Samba TV, which measures 3 million SmartTV households stateside as their sampling, which tuned into the streaming series for at least five minutes.

The world travels of a pair of brothers, one with Down’s, start to look like a middling gap-year project
On the rare occasions the cinema has engaged with Down’s syndrome – 1996’s The Eighth Day and 2019’s The Peanut Butter Falcon are the main ones to spring to mind – it’s been in the form of sweetly sentimental road trips. Though Handsome travels far wider, this meandering, naggingly superficial and sometimes outright misjudged documentary hews to a similar path, dispatching Nick Bourne and younger brother Alex, who has Down’s, to swap tales with similar support networks around the globe. Narrator Nick has Louis Theroux’s specs, crossed-arm stance and stop-start syntax down pat. But what he lacks are Theroux’s generally sure journalistic instincts: the sense of where the story lies, the ability to cut to the chase, and the good grace to remove himself from the picture...

The Succession boys are off on a yacht somewhere, so we’ll see a new champ this year in the Emmy race for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Last year’s winner Jeremy Strong and his costar Brian Cox aren’t eligible to repeat as nominees this year, since Succession hasn’t aired a new episode in over a year. But this year’s contenders have plenty of laurels of their own, including a pair of former winners who were also nominated last year.

Growing up, I’m not sure the idea behind any comic-book series excited me more than Marvel’s What If…? Each issue used the titular question to examine a version of Marvel history that went very differently, like, “What if… Spider-Man Had Never Become a Crimefighter?” or, conversely, “What If… Doctor Doom Had Become A Hero?” The mere possibility of these radical deviations from the stories I knew was so thrilling, I barely even noticed how hit-and-miss the What If…? comic itself could be. While some issues were well-received enough...

Exclusive: Timothy Hutton will not face Canadian justice for an alleged sexual assault after prosecutors in our northern neighbor have decided to close the decades-old case on the Oscar winner.
Earlier this month, the Crown Counsel in British Columbia told the Vancouver Police Department that a “no charge” decision had been rendered in the claims by Sera Dale Johnston that Hutton raped her in 1983. Citing a lack of evidence available to the quasi-judicial entity and based on the province’s Prosecution Service’s charge assessment guidelines policy, the prosecutors did not believe that they had sufficient material for “a substantial likelihood of conviction” against Hutton.
The then-22-year old Ordinary People actor was accused in a November 2019 filing of attacking the then-14-year-old in a local hotel room while another man looked on and participated. While Hutton was in Vancouver 38 years ago making the Iceman movie, the actor has always insisted he “never assaulted Ms.

While Disney+ is coming up on its second birthday and the streaming service already did very well at last year’s Emmys, earning dozens of nominations, it appears the domination of the Mouse House just needed a boost from Marvel Studios to really push it over the edge with this year’s awards season, as both “WandaVision” and “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” pick up a slew of Emmy noms today.

Since The Falcon and the Winter Soldier's release back in March, fans have debated the nature of Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson's relationship. After an interview with Variety on June 17, star Anthony Mackie's quotes about the duo had fans divided across the internet.
"So many things are twisted and convoluted. There's so many things that people latch on to with their own devices to make themselves relevant and rational," he told the outlet. "The idea of two guys being friends and loving each other in 2021 is a problem because of the exploitation of homosexuality. It used to be guys can be friends, we can hang out, and it was cool. You would always meet your friends at the bar, you know. You can't do that anymore, because something as pure and beautiful as homosexuality has been exploited by people who are trying to rationalize themselves." The biggest issue...

One of the most widely discussed aspects of Disney+’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier has been the extent of Sam and Bucky’s bromance.
Over the course of six episodes, we watched the reluctant partners bicker… roll intertwined in a field of grass for comedic effect, confide in each other… sit down for an impromptu couples therapy session… and share laughs while their relationship evolved from gentle hostility to genuine friendship.

“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” hopes to break the Marvel Cinematic Universe into drama categories at the Emmys much the same way “The Mandalorian” did for the “Star Wars” franchise last year. But it’s not just the title characters played by Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan who are contenders for acting nominations. Actually, more of the Expert journalists we’ve surveyed think supporting actors Wyatt Russell and Daniel Bruhl will be recognized.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier claimed the top overall spot in Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the first time in the week of April 12-18.
The Marvel series is the second Disney+ title, after The Mandalorian, to claim the No. 1 overall spot. They’re also among just a handful of titles from streamers other than Netflix to grab the top spot; Amazon’s Coming 2 America and HBO Max’s Wonder Woman 1984 (which was a one-off inclusion in the rankings) are the others.

Marvel is getting better with their Disney+ shows. They had a good start with WandaVision, then kept the momentum going with Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Both were good shows, especially since they expanded on the characterizations of the supporting characters. Now, let’s just hope they keep the momentum going with the upcoming Loki show next month. I’m excited for that, considering that Tom Hiddleston will be reprising his beloved role. I mean, at this point, he pretty much owns that role. Did we really expect Loki to stay dead for long? This is, after all, a cinematic universe based

This is kind of a nice effect that’s been put into play by the fans since it’s also a reversal of roles given that Sam is in charge and Bucky is kind of, well, just there to do his part. It’s not hard to see how this lines up kind of with Miami Vice in a few ways since Sam and Bucky do kind of do their own thing and don’t always follow protocol. As a team, the two of them were kind of hopeless to start with simply because they didn’t vibe as much as they needed to. It

Netflix’s original movie Thunder Force, the comedy starring Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer, debuted at No. 1 on Nielsen’s U.S. streaming ratings chart for the week of April 5. Almost 1 billion minutes were streamed of the pic, pacing it well ahead of No. 2-ranked The Falcon and the Winter Soldier from Disney+, which dropped Episode 4 and grew by 100 million minutes week over week.
Also notable during the April 5-April 11 period was the debut of Amazon’s horror anthology Them, which dropped all 10 episodes on the streaming site at once (bucking Amazon’s usual trend) and finished No. 7 overall on Nielsen’s rankings. Its 439 million minutes viewed was good for No. 2 among streamers’ originals for the week, second only to Falcon and its 748M minutes. Pacing Them‘s surge were African American households, which accounted for nearly 60% of the views.

“There’s a language to how the Marvel superhero costumes have been created in the past,” describes costume designer Michael Crow. This history greatly aided his work on the new Disney+ series “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.” The popular series follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) in the wake of Captain America’s disappearance. Crow has worked on these characters in previous projects, which he reveals “directly informed my approach.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.
This series marks the first time Crow has stepped into the role of costume designer. He previously served as assistant costume designer for the MCU projects “Captain America: Civil War,” “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” “Avengers: Infinity War,” and “Avengers: Endgame.” This experience was invaluable when it came to charting each character’s journey through wardrobe. “I have a knowledge of who they are and where those characters have been,...

While Bucky Barnes-Sarah Wilson ‘shippers are clamoring for Marvel Studios to #ReleaseTheBuckySarahCut, it’ll have to settle for a detailed behind-the-scenes look at the creation of “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier” that includes more delightful Helmut Zemo cuts and a look at the way the writers approached Sam Wilson’s (Anthony Mackie) transformation into Captain America.

Obviously, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier was just the beginning. After the miniseries came to an end last Friday with Sam (Anthony Mackie) donning a new suit, a new shield and a new pair of wings, reports quickly started surfacing that Captain America 4 was in development from Falcon showrunner Malcolm Spellman. Marvel couldn't confirm, but just based on the way The Falcon and the Winter Soldier ended, there's more than enough there for a movie that could take the MCU in a whole new direction. Sharon Carter (Emily Van Camp) is now (or has long been) a bad guy. John Walker (Wyatt Russell) kinda sorta tried to redeem himself and now he's the U.S. Agent, with Julia Louis...

The Irregulars on Netflix edged The Falcon and the Winter Soldier on Disney+ on Nielsen’s weekly U.S. streaming chart.
The supernatural Sherlock Holmes drama tallied 643 million minutes of viewing during the week of March 29 to April 4, compared with 628 million for Falcon. In a key difference, though, there are eight episodes of The Irregulars, compared with three for the Marvel series, which used Disney’s usual weekly release model. Nielsen’s rankings always reflect a nearly month-long lag time, by arrangement with streaming providers.
The Irregulars is a new twist on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s tales of Holmes, Doctor Watson and the other Baker Street staples. Billed as a darker take, it centers on a gang of troubled teens and departs from other Sherlock adaptations by depicting Watson as a sinister figure. Tom Bidwell, whose credits include Watership Down and My Mad Fat Diary, is the show’s writer and an executive producer.

The “Karate Kid” sequel series “Cobra Kai” flew somewhat under the radar when it ran on YouTube’s premium service for its first and second seasons in 2018 and 2019. But then YouTube stopped producing original scripted programs and it was acquired by Netflix, where it premiered its third season in January 2021. That move made the series a sudden watercooler hit, similar to how “Schitt’s Creek” went from underdog Canadian comedy to unbeatable Emmy juggernaut.
“Schitt’s Creek” aired on Pop TV, a network with a lower profile than many other TV channels and streaming services. It never moved to Netflix for any of its six seasons, per se, but its episodes were eventually picked up by the streaming service, dramatically increasing its visibility to viewers and, subsequently, to Emmy voters. It got its first Emmy nominations in 2019 for its fifth season, and then achieved an unprecedented sweep of its top categories, including Best Comedy Series,...

Though “Crip Camp” didn’t end up going home with the Oscar on Sunday evening, it’s done plenty toward making people aware of the need for disabled narratives that are positive and happy. For us to see true inclusion, it’s not enough to simply tell disabled stories, but to make disability part of every story. A prime example of that is the new teen musical, “Best Summer Ever.”
The most ambitious feature undertaken by Zeno Mountain Farm, a camp aimed at immersing disabled and non-disabled kids in the arts and the subject of the 2014 documentary “Becoming Bulletproof,” “Best Summer Ever” seeks to break the record for most disabled performers in a film held by 1932’s horror feature “Freaks.” Outside of that,
