- Park ranger Ryan Gilko is the first of several Wesen, affected by a contagious disease, who suddenly commit violent attacks on people. The team felt relaxed now Hank is being included in the secret, so Monroe takes Rosalee on a picnic. Alas, the plague spreads and even affects her, so it's up to Monroe to make the remedy they researched together while Nick holds her feral state in check. Captain Renard meanwhile learns that another terrifying European fugitive has arrived in Portland.—KGF Vissers
- While investigating an accident site, Nick comes upon a bizarre and gruesome Wesen disease that is spreading quickly. A romantic day out for Monroe and Rosalee takes a dangerous turn when they encounter an infected creature that is out for blood. Meanwhile, Captain Renard gets a tip about a dangerous foreign fugitive who's made his way to Portland.—NBC Publicity
- A parks worker jams to tunes in his truck when he is rear ended by a speeding car. The man in the driver's seat of the car doesn't look too good. In fact, his face appears to be half melted. Sure enough, the parks worker is attacked -- and spouts into some kind of porcupine creature until melty-face runs away.
At a diner, Nick explains his heritage to Hank, who has recently been let in on his partner's deep, dark secrets. They get a call and are soon on the scene of the morning's attack. Inside a trashed office building, the partners find the face-melting man, who promptly attacks. Nick shoots it dead, then examines the bullet-ridden body. It's a Wesen, but one apparently carrying some sort of disease. There are needle marks on the creature's arms, too.
Juliette, meanwhile, frets about not being able to remember Nick. She calls Monroe, who is hesitant to answer any hard questions -- i.e. those with answers that hint toward the supernatural. Later, Nick visits Monroe, who explains that Juliette is trying really hard to remember. Nick tells Monroe that Hank is now in the loop when it comes to the cop's unique family history. Nick then returns home to find Juliette more confused than ever. "I feel bad not being able to do anything to help you," Nick says. It doesn't seem to help.
The parks worker, Ryan, awakens from a nightmare to discover a familiar flesh-melting rash on his neck. Uh oh. The next morning, Rosalee returns to work to find her store trashed. Turns out that Adalind's cat has clawed its way out of the carrier. It drops from the ceiling, where it has been waiting patiently, and attacks Rosalee, who opens the front door and allows the feline to escape. Monroe then shows up and asks Rosalee to a picnic.
At police HQ, a worried Renard asks an officer to check out any arrivals to Portland from Rome. There have been three -- two who are currently accounted for. The third has disappeared. Worse, a cab and its driver went missing within 30 minutes of the mystery visitor's arrival. Renard gives the case to Nick and Hank. "I want you to be careful," Renard warns.
Rosalee and Monroe arrive deep in the woods for their date. Unfortunately, parks worker Ryan, looking as bad (or worse) than his dead attacker, soon arrives. Juliette, in the meantime, has coffee with Bud and tries to get him to reveal clues to Nick's past. Bud spills that Nick is a Grimm -- and when Juliette clearly has no idea what that means -- backtracks furiously and leaves.
Later, Hank discovers that the wife of the diseased man shot by Nick is an animal researcher specializing in pigs. At the same moment, Wu visits the address of the woman -- and finds the house trashed. He also finds the woman, Mrs. Stanton. She carries a knife and her face is melting, too. She attacks; Wu opens fire; and Mrs. Stanton dies just like her husband. At the park picnic, Monroe and Rosalee are getting romantic when Ryan appears.
Ryan turns into a porcupine creature and begins to chase Monroe and Rosalee. The pair run back and jump into Monroe's VW Bug and take off, leaving the sick parks worker/Wesen Ryan in the dust. "Whatever that is, he is not well," Monroe quips. Nick and Hank arrive at Mrs. Stanton's house to find a shaken Wu. They also find evidence that the dead woman was investigating the disease in pigs. Nick and Hank then head to the park to seek out Ryan. Unbeknownst to the partners, a mystery Wesen driving a cab watches and trails them.
Back at her shop, Rosalee becomes very aggressive with Monroe, who happily kisses her back. A call from Nick interrupts the make-out session. Nick, who has been reading his aunt's books, thinks it's a yellow plague that wiped out whole villages of Wesen in ancient times. Monroe warns that the only early symptom is increased libido ... and then notices a scratch on amorous Rosalee's neck. Yikes. Nick hangs up because an obviously diseased Ryan has stepped out of the woods. But before the parks worker/porcupine can attack, he sways and falls to the ground.
Back at Rosalee's shop, Monroe explains to his friend that she is infected. She is very weak, but tries to find the recipe for the cure. "I have all the ingredients in the shop, but you're going to have to do it," she whispers before collapsing. Moments later, Nick and Hank drag a convulsing Ryan into the shop. The friends then hear breaking glass. Rosalee has leaped out the window. Monroe then finishes the concoction and gives it to Ryan while Nick goes after Rosalee. Unfortunately, Rosalee is very, very sick -- and, in her confused state, she attacks Nick, who knocks her unconscious.
Later, Rosalee is given the cure and immediately begins to recover. Alone with Monroe, she asks if they kissed. "Sort of like there was no tomorrow," he says. Rosalee smiles. She doesn't regret it. While up on the roof, through a window, the mystery Wesen -- the one Renard is seeking -- watches.
