Good idea with great moments, but some mis-steps

I saw this film last night at the Berlinale film festival with a large crowd on the big screen, and enjoyed it.

Although the film deals with complex issues like a trans woman's relationship with a gay man - it is handled maturely, with honesty and compassion, and at no time comes across as preachy or 'woke'.

The performances by Thea Ehre and Timocin Ziegler were outstanding; but Thea's performance was especially compelling.

The movie feels like a very modern classic film noir idea, with complex overlapping stories and character motivations.

Sadly though, I felt the threads of the crime story became overly complex, and at the end I wasn't sure why some characters did what they did.

It could have been a little shorter and a little tighter.

The film is shot very well, it seems to take our world and turn the contrast and saturation up, to become larger than life yet still recognisable.

Modern, familiar, and yet mysterious and film noir-ish.

It reminded me a little bit of Bladerunner and the book Do Android's Dream of Electric Sheep.

A little confusing, but still satisfying and immersive.

Worth a watch.
