BX9 is a fictional gang, though they appear to be based on the real-life Dominican-American gang called Dominicans Don't Play (DDP). DDP was founded in Manhattan in 1990 and is a rival to the Trinitarios, another Dominican gang founded in New York City that is the largest and most dangerous Latino gang in the city. DDP is not as large as the Trinitarios but they are quickly increasing in both members and territory, DDP is the second largest Dominican gang in the city as of 2022, they operate mainly in the Bronx, Harlem and the Lower East Side. DDP are primarily known for using machetes and knives as weapons, they use assault, extortion and rape as methods for recruiting members. Due to their connection to the Columbian cartel DDP is one of the largest distributors of cocaine in NYC and have been involved in at least a dozen high profile murder cases since 2005.
Fin tells Rollins about the time he first discovered Ken was gay, which occurred in the episode Strain (2005).
Ken is revealed to be engaged to Alejandro Pavel since his last appearance, which was in the episode Conned (2010)
