Film: "Maranthen Mannithen"; Actors: Aadi Pinisetty, Taapsee Pannu, Lakshmi Manchu, Sundeep Kishan and Ravi Babu; Director: Kumar Nagendra; Rating: ***
We have had so many love stories in Indian cinema over the years that we have literally lost interest in sitting through one more love story, no matter how well made. The reason being the utter lack of innovation in presentation to keep the audience engaged.
Debut director Kumar Nagendra's "Maranthen Mannithen" (Mm), Tamil dubbed version of Telugu film "Gundello Godari", which is based on a book by Bvs Rama Rao, narrates a love story against the backdrop of the Godavari floods of 1986. Even though at heart, Mm is a love story, the path it takes to narrate is far different.

Chennai, March 6: Telugu actor-producer Lakshmi Manchu says water was the biggest challenge in her forthcoming Telugu romantic-drama "Gundello Godari", a story set against the backdrop of 1986 Godavari floods.
"Since the story is set during the 1986 floods, we had to use lots of water. We used 40 acres of land next to Godavari, where we saved water in tanks for the shoot. It was extremely challenging to shoot in the flowing water. Water was our biggest challenge in the making of the film," Manchu told Ians.
"We used as many as 50 cameras to capture the flowing water. Since the story is based on true events, we spent close.

"Maranthen Mannithen" is the Tamil version of Telugu film "Gundello Godari", which has music by maestro Illayaraja. Although the maestro satisfies with the soundtrack, sadly one may feel the lack of innovation in the composition as the veteran resorts to recomposing two of his old songs in the film.
The album has seven songs featuring.
