Gamers and Tatort-Boomers equally published mostly positive reviews. When both are happy, it says it all. Why? It is a great thriller full of twists and action that challenge the popular yet aged detectives. I personally love the fact that this dinosaur of the sunday evening TV manages to make me empathise with both parties in the pitch: with the challenge of the detectives to understand anything about the Games and the Gamer community and with the perspective and today's relevance of the Gamer thinking. All in all, it is a good and entertaining piece of Tatort that, if you decide to leave your couch for the fridge, forces you to run.

A bad German movie... Again

Apart from the acting performance of the young professional gamer Oskar, the film unfortunately has no other highlights. The script is unfortunately very bad, there is framing in every second. The idea is to convey the image that gamers are evil, that testosterone injections lead to acts of violence, and many other far-fetched connections. The police's chain of evidence is bad, the acting of the police officers is bad. It is extremely difficult to find words of praise for this film. Towards the end of the film, the plot once again seems to make absolutely no sense. The film is so far removed from reality, one could classify it as science fiction and even from this point of view the film is not recommendable.

Exciting thriller blurring the lines between VR and reality

Whilst a connection between various real life crimes and a fanatical gaming community becomes obvious quite soon, the movie stays suspenseful until the end as the story takes many unexpected turns until coming to its final conclusion. The police plays a double role as various suspects are cops, which adds to the suspense throughout. Visually appealing and well edited the movie has plenty of momentum and atmosphere, intertwining smoothly the investigations and pursuits of the mixed age detectives with the e-sport competition of the younger gaming addicts. It's pleasant to see that all characters and subplots are well developed, and that the plot remains believable, thanks to good acting and thorough research of the gamers habits. It's very entertaining to watch.
