Paul Averhoff enters the Berlin Marathon only a few weeks before the event actually takes place. At this point of time, no further entry would have been allowed, not even a Good for Age entry, as suggested by the film as runners have to apply for this well in advance (usually around 11 months before when the normal registration (now a ballot) is opened). The Good for Age entry for a male runner of 60 years or older would be 3 hours 25 minutes, not 2 hours 40 minutes, as stated in the film.
The film presents the finish of the Berlin Marathon in the Olympic Stadium. However, the Olympic Stadium has never been the finish of the Berlin Marathon. Since 2003, the finish line has been located at the Brandenburg Gate.
