- Though all the family have seen ghostly evidence Eve persuades them to stay a little longer to locate Cam. She visits Percy and learns the orphans drowned because the hall was built over a river but two corpses were not recovered - those of German Jew Stefan, the object of most of Cribben's cruelty, and the older Maurice, who was seduced by Magda Cribben. Nancy was sacked for her efforts to help but when Percy returned from war service he never found her. A flashback shows why. The Caleighs find a ledger in which Cribben recorded the punishments inflicted on the children after which Eve persuades medium Lili Peel to help find Cam but Lili is overwhelmed and injured by the ghost of Cribben, whose spirit is stronger than those of the children. Gabe meanwhile seeks the intervention of paranormal expert Gordon Pyke.—don @ minifie-1
- While Eve goes out to search for their missing dog Clyde, Gabe examines the cupboard from which odd sounds have been emanating. He has his first ghostly encounter. He also finds an old ledger in which Augustus Cribben recorded the punishments meted out to each of the children. Eve meanwhile learns that the children drowned as a result of an underground river directly beneath the house. Two of the dead - Stefan and Maurice - were never recovered however. Percy tells her he had a psychic, Lili Peel, try to contact the ghosts but she nearly died. Although reluctant at first, Lili agrees to help Eve. Greg turns to Gordon Pyke who has already tried - unsuccessfully - to find ghosts at Crickley Hall. Back in World War II, Nancy continues her efforts to help the children and tries to find evidence or information that would indicate Cribben is unsuitable to work with children. She puts herself in a very dangerous situation.—garykmcd
