Neben einer Reihe weiterer, zum Teil fest erwarteter Titel bestätigt Variety, dass „Joker: Folie A Deux“ bereits fix ist für die diesjährige 81. Mostra in Venedig.
Mostra in Venedig findet vom 28.

2024’s Venice Film Festival isn’t far away. Last year’s event was one that was slightly cut down due to the ongoing strikes that had befallen Hollywood and prevented a number of actors from attending for the promotion of their films. The films that screened last year included David Fincher’s The Killer, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, Ava DuVernay’s Origin, Michael Mann’s Ferrari and Bradley Cooper’s Maestro. The line-up for films out of competition featured such big names as Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, William Friedkin, Richard Linklater and Roman Polanski.
The 81st Annual Venice Film Festival is set for August 28 to September 7. Variety is reporting that among the films that are being rumored for screenings is the Todd Phillips follow-up to the Joaquin Phoenix reimagining of DC’s Clown Prince of Crime. The upcoming Venice Film Festival is shaping up to be a star-studded affair with Lady Gaga, Joaquin Phoenix, Angelina Jolie, Daniel Craig, Johnny Depp, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Gal Gadot and Ana de Armas among top Hollywood talents likely to be launching high-profile titles from the Lido.
Though festival chief Alberto Barbera has yet to see several submitted works that are likely to make the cut, a clutch of globally buzzy movies have already secured a coveted Venice berth, though some of the more mainstream entries will probably be bowing out-of-competition.
“Joker 2: Folie à Deux,” Todd Phillips’ edgy musical sequel to his 2019 Golden Lion prizewinning “Joker,” starring Gaga and Phoenix, is a competition shoo-in, along with Pablo Larraín’s Maria Callas biopic “Maria,” starring Jolie in the title role.

Eden (formerly known as Origin of the Species) is quickly becoming a highly-anticipated film with its non-stop casting announcement of some of the most popular actors working in the industry now. Directed by Ron Howard from a screenplay by Noah Pink, Eden will be a survival thriller film and while there are reports that say the film is based on a true story what we know for sure is that the film will be trying to “explore the human condition in ways that are unexpected, absurd, humorous, sexy, but above all thrilling and deeply suspenseful.”
Eden – Filming Location & Production (Where Was It Shot?)
Filming began for Eden on November 27, 2023, with most of the production taking place in Queensland, Australia and a small unit filming on the Galápagos Islands.

Sydney Sweeney has had an interesting trajectory in the industry with the actress being one of the most promising among the current bunch of actors in their 20s. Despite her talent and range as an actress that she has proved in projects like Euphoria, Anyone But You, and Immaculate, the actress has been mostly seen as the sexy blonde who frequently goes n*de in most of her projects.

Sweeney has been open about how she is aware of those criticisms, and how her family is okay and comfortable with her going n*de on screen. However, one of the stars from Bridgerton, Nicola Coughlan had a contrasting response from her parents about the n*dity in her show.

A special offer for people with a strong nervous system – Reddit users chose the most intense horror films that will definitely make your heart beat (a lot) faster, and we picked just five of the best.
1. Green Room, 2015
A little-known punk band, The Ain't Rights, travels through the province trying to make a living. The road leads them to a club for Nazis, where the guys witness a murder. On the one hand, they understand that no one is going to let them off so easily now, but on the other hand, what can they do against a crowd of aggressive, armed skinheads? So far the musicians, locked in a small room, are still alive, but it is not clear how to get out of this situation without casualties.
From the description, Green Room may seem like a high-speed action movie, but in reality this is not entirely true – this...

Ruben Östlund is checking in two new actors for his next feature. Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Brühl are the latest to join the Swedish filmmaker’s The Entertainment System Is Down.
The feature takes place on a long flight in which the onboard entertainment system fails, leaving the passengers to deal with their own boredom — to darkly comedic results. Östlund is shopping the package at Cannes, with Keanu Reeves already attached to star. The production has purchased a retired Boeing 747 for the shoot.
The filmmaker has stated he aspires for Entertainment System to cause the biggest walkout in Cannes history when it inevitably plays at the fest. Östlund famously included a lengthy vomiting scene in Triangle of Sadness, the 2022 Palm d’Or winner that skewered 1 percent culture amid the backdrop of yachting for the ultra wealthy. While that scene tested audiences’ ability to handle a gross-out scenario, he has said...

Just last month we heard that Keanu Reeves would be teaming with Ruben Östlund, the acclaimed director of Triangle Of Sadness, to make The Entertainment System Is Down. Now it’s being reported (via Screen Daily) that Reeves will be joined on the project by Kirsten Dunst and Daniel Brühl.
Meanwhile, Deadline adds that Östlund has gone to the trouble of buying a full-size, retired Boeing 747 for the movie, and will use it as a full-scale set.
We most recently saw Dunst put in an excellent leading turn in Alex Garland’s Civil War while Brühl is set to feature in Ron Howard’s upcoming thriller, Eden, which also features Sydney Sweeney, Vanessa Kirby and Ana de Armas.

Edgar Wright will direct a remake of Barbarella starring Sydney Sweeney, and here are details of the upcoming film.
It was reported last year thar Edgar Wright was going to direct a remake of Barbarella. The original 1968 film, adapted from the French comic book series by Jean-Claude Forest and directed by Roger Vadim, followed Jane Fonda as an astronaut from the 41st century. Jane Fonda has repeatedly claimed that she pushed its producer, Dino De Laurentiis to make a feminist take on the film many times but he always refused.

Sydney Sweeney is getting in the ring.
The breakout from, well, basically everything she’s done lately is set to play boxer Christy Martin in an upcoming biopic directed by David Michôd (“Animal Kingdom”). Insert your own joke here about being a knockout. The script for the untitled project was written by Mirrah Foulkes and Michôd.
Martin was the most successful female boxer of the 1990s. She signed with Don King and is the only female boxer to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated. Martin became welterweight champion — but that was about the end of the good things in her life. Christy was physically abused by husband Jim Martin, who was eventually convicted of attempted second-degree murder with a firearm and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Christy Martin’s life is documented in “Untold,” the excellent series of documentaries by Chaplain and Maclain Way. Her episode is subtitled “Deal with the Devil,...

Exclusive: The in-demand Sydney Sweeney, coming off hit rom-com Anyone But You and horror pic Immaculate, is shifting gears again as she is set to portray trailblazing boxer Christy Martin in a new biopic which could be a knockout for buyers at the Cannes market where Black Bear will be launching.
Under the direction of Oz filmmaker David Michôd, known for visceral movies such as Animal Kingdom and The King, the currently untitled project will chart the true story of Martin’s rise to become America’s most well known female boxer in the 1990s — the “female Rocky” in the words of the film’s producers. A naturally gifted fighter, her life transformed in 1989 when she met her manager, and later husband, Jim Martin. Breaking boundaries, she became the first woman to sign with iconic promoter Don King, and the only female boxer to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

After Netflix’s recent success with the live-action One Piece adaptation, the company seems to have acknowledged the potential of anime. Several Netflix original series have been released in the past few years, and the latest addition is Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf.
This no-nonsense action-packed series is very obviously targeted at fans of Baki, Spriggan, Kengan Ashura, and other original Netflix action anime. No one can deny the cult following these action anime have, and the company did not waste any time catering another series to this growing audience.
Netflix Ona Garouden: Plot, Trailer, and Other Updates
Garouden: The Way of the Lone Wolf anime is inspired by a Japanese martial arts novel by Baku Yumemakura. The protagonist, Juzo is a skilled martial artist and practices Takemiya-ryu. He is on the run from a dark past and is being followed by a detective.

Sydney Sweeney’s latest foray into the superhero genre went down in infamy. She recently portrayed Julia Cornwall aka Spider-Woman in Ssu’s latest flop ‘Madame Web.’
Sweeney commented on her failed role with grace telling the inquiring press that she was only an actress in it and had nothing to do with what many considered to be a subpar story and an even worse idea.
Despite the negative reviews that the movie received, fans still wanted to see Sweeney in superhero roles, and she’s been fancast in plenty of upcoming productions. Now notable leaker and scooper MyTimeToShineHello stated on X have Sydney Sweeney has been cast as Black Cat in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4.’

Sydney Sweeney’s recent venture into superhero movies didn’t go as planned. She played Julia Cornwall, also known as Spider-Woman, in Ssu’s disappointing film ‘Madame Web.’ When asked about her role, Sweeney gracefully distanced herself from the criticism, stating she was just an actress and not responsible for the film’s poor reception and unpopular concept.
Even with the movie’s poor reviews, fans continue to support Sweeney’s potential in superhero roles, often suggesting her for various upcoming projects. Now, reputable leaker MyTimeToShineHello has announced on X that Sydney Sweeney has landed the role of Black Cat in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man 4.’

The song is now featured as the opening theme for the spring 2024 TV anime Bartender Glass of God and this is the first time that he has provided a theme song for an anime series. While Sydney Sweeney is basking in the success of her recent horror film Immaculate, she seems to have gotten on the wrong side of the Internet again. The Madame Web star faced intense backlash from fans after reports of her starring with Johnny Depp in a new supernatural thriller made the rounds.
Depp has also been receiving backlash ever since his Blow co-star Lola Glaudini reportedly accused him of verbal abuse on the film sets. An insider reported that Sweeney and Depp would be starring in Marc Webb’s new film Day Drinker. However, representatives of the Euphoria star have now confirmed that she would not be starring in the film.

Elizabeth Taylor remains one of the most iconic actresses to ever grace the silver screen. And she knew it, coming out of a partial retirement to play the role of Pearl Slaghoople – the mother to Elizabeth Perkins’ Wilma and mother-in-law to John Goodman’s Fred – in 1994’s The Flintstones, an adaptation of the Hanna-Barbera production. But getting such prestige comes at a high cost. Like, a present every day she was on set-level of cost.
While Elizabeth Taylor isn’t in much of The Flintstones, her sheer stature put her in a position to demand just about anything she wanted, to which producer Bruce Cohen was happy to oblige. Kyle MacLachlan – who played Slate & Co.’s VP Cliff Vandercave in The Flintstones – remembered, “The cast was crazy. Bruce got Elizabeth Taylor to do that movie. It was amazing. She had to have a gift every day. A gift every day.

In every generation, there is a scream queen–an actress known for starring in horror films who comes to embody the genre landscape of her time. From Janet Leigh and her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Michelle Gellar to Maika Monroe, these women often originate a beloved character or star in a variety of cutting edge films, pushing the boundaries as cinema evolves.
The jury’s still out on which Gen Z actress will ascend to the scream queen throne, but Sydney Sweeney is making a strong case for her legacy. Though not exclusively known for horror, this versatile actress specializes in creating fearsome characters that break the mold set by her predecessors. With her wide eyes and angelic smile, Sweeney has a knack for luring us in with the perception of innocence only to shock us with a cutting remark or withering glare.

‘To me, that film was a building block,’ says Sydney Sweeney of the much-maligned comic book movie, Madame Web.
Considering she’s just starred in the film that will probably be remembered as 2024’s least loved movie, Sydney Sweeney seems to have deftly sidestepped any negativity emanating from Madame Web's dismal reception.
How so? Well, her breakout rom-com Anyone But You is still playing in cinemas, a pretty amazing feat considering that the film debuted at the tail-end of last year. That movie is proving to have real legs, and although Sweeney may have followed it with a supporting appearance in Sony’s maligned Spider-Man spin-off, she’s quickly following Madame Web with Immaculate, a fun take on the convent horror genre in which she plays a nun subjected to all kinds of peril throughout the film’s zippy runtime.

Since AGC launched in 2018, it has become one of Hollywood’s leading production and financing players, with 41 major film and TV productions under its belt.
In a statement, Ford and Palos said Diaz had been a “hugely influential contributor to the company’s explosive growth.”

By turns tender and raucous, Pamela Adlon’s feature-length directorial debut, Babes, spins the uneasy, unwelcome, weirdly cool corporeal realities of pregnancy into heartfelt comic gold. The film often feels like a kindred spirit or companion piece to Gillian Robespierre’s Obvious Child, with star and co-writer Illana Glazer stepping into the Jenny Slate role as a woman whose arrested development brushes up against the realities of potential motherhood.
Babes stars Glazer as Eden, a yoga instructor who’s Thanksgiving plans are waylaid when her bestie, Dawn (Michelle Buteau), goes into labor with her second child. After a chance subway encounter and one-night stand with a charming actor (Stephan James), Eden finds herself pregnant. Woefully unprepared and estranged from her sole remaining parent (Oliver Platt), Eden leans on Dawn and her husband, Marty (Hasan Minhaj), to help her through the pregnancy and transition into single motherhood. France’s Canal+ Group said that it has increased its stake in multi-territory Asian streaming platform Viu to 30%.
“This additional investment underlines the confidence that Canal+ has in Viu and its teams. It also highlights the determination of Canal+ to make Asia its next growth vector, through its strategic partnership with Pccw, and through an acceleration of growth at Viu, a premium streaming service present in Asia, the Middle East and South Asfrica,” the French group said in a statement. Additionally, it said that its investment in Viu now amounted to some $300 million and that it retains an option to increase its stake to 50%.
In June last year, Canal+ announced that it was to pay $200 million for an initial 26.1% stake in Viu and that it would make a total staggered investment of $300 million.

Before he started filling up the nation's drug store book racks with tawdry tales of romance and suspense, Sidney Sheldon was one of Hollywood and Broadway's most prolific writers. He could write comedies, musicals, musical-comedies, mysteries, dramas, thrillers ... just about everything short of slasher flicks (though he probably would've knocked out one of those had they been a thing during his 1940s - '60s heyday). Clearly, he had an ear for what worked, and he wasn't just knocking out quickie programmers. He won a Best Original Screenplay Oscar for the Cary Grant-Myrna Loy-Shirley Temple screwball hit "The Bachelor and the Bobby-Soxer," and earned a Best Musical Tony for the Gwen Verdon-led Broadway smash "Redhead."
And when television came calling, rather than turn up his nose as many of his established film and theater colleagues did during the medium's early days, he enthusiastically picked up the phone.

Actress Sydney Sweeney became a household name after she played the role of Cassie Howard in the HBO drama series Euphoria. That role helped her bag bigger opportunities in the industry, including the role of Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman in 2024’s Madame Web, which is set in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe (Ssu).
Sydney Sweeney as Julia Carpenter in Madame Web
Sweeney’s character in Madame Web primarily exhibits superpowers like superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, and reflexes, but Sweeney believes her Euphoria character, Cassie Howard, would easily beat Julia Carpenter / Spider-Woman in a fight. Madame Web, which also features Dakota Johnson, Celeste O’Connor, and Isabela Merced had a terrible start as critics have annihilated the movie with negative reviews. The film is expected to be a major financial loss for the studios.

Directed by Petra Lumioksa, the show’s first outing gained a lot of traction on social media as well.
“Especially on TikTok,” noted Elomäki.
“I have always considered the young audience to be important.

Sydney Sweeney stars in Immaculate, an upcoming horror flick from Neon that riffs on the concept of the immaculate conception.
Last year saw an interesting debate bubble up around the lack of new movie stars, with a wide-ranging survey discovering that most movie punters would only consider shelling out for a cinema ticket if one of the ageing stars who emerged in the 1990s such as Julia Roberts or Brad Pitt were headlining.
‘Where are the stars of tomorrow?’ was the oft-heard lament echoed by lots of think-pieces and whilst it continues to be a good question, there might be an equally good answer in the form of Sydney Sweeney.
Anyone But You, the romantic comedy headlined by Sweeney and Top Gun: Maverick's Glen Powell has been quietly guzzling cash at the box office, enjoying a run that looks to have been extended due to the film’s popularity.
