Christopher McQuarrie’s next mission, should he choose to accept it, will be to direct Green Lantern Corps for Warner Bros. and DC Films.
That Hashtag Show has the scoop, claiming that the Mission: Impossible and Jack Reacher filmmaker is being courted by Warner Bros. for their in-development Hal Jordan/John Stewart buddy cop movie – presumably at the expense of Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), who was reportedly in the frame to direct late last year.
Going one step further, Ths also theorizes that McQuarrie’s involvement in Green Lantern Corps may open up a path for Tom Cruise to enter the DC Extended Universe. If that’s the case, and Warner Bros. somehow manages to convince Cruise to join another shared universe – one need only look to The Mummy for evidence of the Dark Universe’s failings – then he’ll likely play the part of a supporting character,...
