- The father of existentialism, theologian, and philosopher are just three titles that belong to Søren Kierkegaard, none of which he held most dear to him. A fourth title is what best represented the mysterious figure, one that was inseparably intertwined with his personal life. Set in the early 19th century, Knight of Faith is a look into the life of the Danish philosopher Søren Kierkegaard and his relationship with his fiancé, Regine Olsen. Believing to be at a crossroads in both his personal and spiritual life, he must devoutly sacrifice one and endure the trials that follow. Above all else, Kierkegaard has to consider what it truly means to be faithful, and what it means to be alone. This project is the result of a collaboration between students studying at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Filmmaking. It was filmed on location in North Carolina in March 2012.—Lazarus Dance
