The Adelante Directors Fellowship has revealed the three creatives selected for the second round of the program.
Barbara Cigarroa, Iliana Sosa and Michelle Salcedo snagged the fellowships, which deliver the chance to shadow an episode of a TV series, a grant to support them up to four weeks during the process, and a two-day orientation with masterclasses and support from The Latinx House. The fellowship — launched in 2022 as a partnership between The Latinx House, Sundance Institute, Netflix and Shondaland — is designed to support Latina and non-binary Latine directors on their industry journeys. The three fellows shadowed directors on Netflix’s Black Rabbit (directed by the likes of Jason Bateman and Laura Linney) and on the final season of Shondaland’s Station 19 for ABC.

Welcome to Deadline’s International Disruptors, a feature where we shine a spotlight on key executives and companies outside of the U.S. shaking up the offshore marketplace. This week, we’re talking to Riff Raff Entertainment, the company founded by Jude Law and his longtime creative partner Ben Jackson. Straight off the plane from New York, where he is mid-production on the Netflix series “Black Rabbit,” director Justin Kurzel debuted his new documentary “Ellis Park” at the Melbourne International Film Festival.
“Ellis Park” follows the eventful life of composer Warren Ellis and the wildlife sanctuary he co-founded on the Indonesian island of Sumatra. Combining Ellis’ irreverent humor and unbounded creativity with the moving story of the sanctuary’s role as a home for animals rescued from the black market, “Ellis Park” is set to be one of the most impactful Australian documentaries of recent years.
Following the film’s premiere at Melbourne’s Astor Theatre, Kurzel said making the documentary has profoundly influenced his forthcoming productions. Alongside “Black Rabbit” these include “The Order” — a wintry thriller starring Jude Law, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Jurnee Smollett, and Marc Maron set to premiere at the Venice Film Festival — and the series...
