The American incarceration system is a disgrace
mail-963-83392823 July 2023
True, authentic and deeply moving. Exposes how "inner city youth" is constantly living a moment away from a disaster. In a civilized country, vulnerable young people should receive support from the government, not violent threats, abuse and slave like conditions. The performance of John Carlos adds weight, and the statistics he quotes are heartbreaking.

The three intertwining storylines, the Swagger team looking at possible jail time, the players already inside, and a new bunch of kids arriving at the jail, makes a strong multilayered narrative, exposing the inhumanity of a system that effects the whole black community.

Warning: Spoilers
This was a powerful episode and while they seemed to really push their own agenda, we all know that the prison system in America has its flaws.

Our goal should be to stop people from getting there in the first place, but we have to ensure our youth have a way to turn around their life if for some reason they did.

This episode shined a light on this very sensitive matter and tackled a subject most would stay away from. It was preachy for sure, but at least it gave us the signature basketball moments we get from Swagger, all the way down to a last second dunk for the team from Cedar Cove to "win" the game.
