The “24” and “The Lost Boys” actor remembered his father as a performer who loved his craft and an actor who was one of Hollywood’s most important stars.
“With a heavy heart, I tell you that my father, Donald Sutherland, has passed away,” Kiefer wrote in a statement on his social media platforms. “I personally think one of the most important actors in the history of film. Never daunted by a role, good, bad or ugly. He loved what he did and did what he loved, and one can never ask for more than that. A life well lived.”

Not even legends live forever. Donald Sutherland, the acclaimed Canadian actor with decades worth of roles and awards to his name, has died at age 88, Deadline reports. He is survived by his wife Francine Racette, who he'd been with since 1972. Sutherland had been married twice before meeting Racette, first to Lois Hardwick from 1959 to 1966 and then to the late Shirley Douglas from 1966 to 1970.
Sutherland also leaves behind five children: Kiefer ("24"), Rachel, Rossif ("Three Pines"), Angus ("1917"), and Roeg. All of Sutherland's children followed him into the entertainment business: Kiefer, Rossif, and Angus are actors, Rachel is a production manager, and Roeg is a talent agent.
Born in Saint John, New Brunswick on July 17, 1935, Sutherland had a middle-class upbringing -- his father Frederick was a salesman and his mother Dorothy was a teacher. However, he was also a sickly child, suffering at different points from polio, rheumatic fever, hepatitis, pneumonia, and scarlet fever.

Destiny 2: The Final Shape, the long-awaited expansion that brought the Light and Darkness saga to a close, finally landed on June 4, 2024, following a four-month delay. While the expansion has been universally praised for its gripping narrative and emotional depth, it turns out that the original ending cutscene was a far cry from what players experienced in the final release.
Bungie recently lifted the curtain on the development process of The Final Shape, revealing a wealth of concept art, visual effects, and animations that offer an intriguing look into the creative journey behind the expansion.
“Yeah, me too, kiddo.” | Bungie
Among these revelations was a pre-delay version of the ending cutscene that has left many players breathing a sigh of relief, knowing that the changes made during the delay were for the best.

I remember the early days of Destiny. The glimpses of footage, the beta test, and Peter Dinklage telling us that, by God, that wizard came from the moon. They were good days, and I was committed to all of it in my usually solo way. In 2017, Destiny 2 (from here I’m going to refer to the sequel as Destiny proper) promised to continue the story left hanging after the Taken King’s rise and the Vex’s attempt to master reality via time manipulation. The sequel-slash-continuation opened with a violent surge of Cabal into the Last City, leaving Guardians depowered, afraid, and scattered in the dangerous wilds.
It was a strong start, requiring more skill to survive the amplified risks ahead of us as players. New strikes and raids promised even tighter challenges, and the story continued to evolve. Forsaken – the first big expansion and the introduction to Destiny’s...

Actress Demi Moore, who is known for ‘A Few Good Men’ and ‘Forsaken’, shared a new Instagram video, giving a glimpse of her family vacation.
The actress also flaunted her leopard bikini. Moore’s post provided highlights from the family’s beach vacation, with appearances from Tallulah, 30, Scout, 32, Rumer Willis, 35, Rumer’s 1-year-old daughter Louetta, family friends, reports People magazine.
The beachgoers jump from inside a home onto the bright white sandy beach in the clip. Thanks to editing tricks, each jumped over the camera and landed on the beach. Moore, 61, kicked off the video and first sported a pair of white cargo pants and a white tank top.
As per People, when she landed on the beach, the actress was wearing a string leopard bikini and square brown sunglasses. Tallulah then followed her mom, transitioning from bright yellow pants and a brown T-shirt into a purple and white striped strapless bikini.

Last month, Saban Films announced that they will be releasing the thriller In the Fire, starring Aquaman‘s Amber Heard, on Friday, October 13th – and the movie will be receiving theatrical, digital, and VOD releases all on the same date. With that date now just a few weeks away, a trailer for In the Fire has now arrived online, and you can check it out in the embed above.
Directed by Conor Allyn, who also wrote the screenplay with Pascal Borno and Silvio Muraglia, In the Fire has the following synopsis: A doctor from New York travels to a remote plantation in the 1890s to care for a disturbed boy who seems to have inexplicable abilities. She begins treating the child, but in doing so ignites a war of science versus religion with the local priest who believes the boy is possessed by the Devil and is the reason for all the village’s woes.

This article contains spoilers for The Wheel of Time season 2 episode 4 and the book series.
It’s no secret that fans of the Robert Jordan novels upon which The Wheel of Time is based are not always pleased with the adaptation’s choice of modifications to the original narrative. But in the latest episode, “Daughter of the Night,” the introduction of Lanfear, a new general in the Dark One’s army, gives added agency to an important character. As interesting as she was in the books, Lanfear was initially introduced as a woman in need of rescue with an emotional attachment to the Dragon Reborn… or more specifically, the original Dragon, Lews Therin Telamon.
It’s a subtle but important distinction! When Lanfear first appears in the novels, she immediately targets Rand al’Thor using the alias Selene, just as she does in The Wheel of Time season 2. But instead...

HBO’s latest hit series The Last of Us now officially has a soundtrack for its first season, a massive, 66-song compilation of all the music scoring the post-apocalyptic tale. Check it out below.
After working on the original The Last of Us video game, composer Gustavo Santaolalla returns for the HBO series, joined by fellow artist David Fleming. In an upcoming interview with Consequence, Santaolalla describes his approach to the soundtrack, saying, “The process of adapting, it was more in a way like craftwork than actually a new creation, because the themes were there, those things are there, like the characters, it wasn’t about creating a new job, it wasn’t about finding what is interesting. For example, in seeing how Pascal and Bella, they’re different than the actors that played the voices, but at the same time, they keep the soul of the characters intact.”

Exclusive: One notable title up for sale we’re hearing about at the European Film Market is Timothy Scott Bogart’s pop Romeo & Juliet musical, Verona starring Clara Rugaard, Jamie Ward, Rebel Wilson, Rupert Everett, Jason Isaacs and Derek Jacobi.
Verona will be the first film in a original pop musical trilogy based around the real-life 1301 story that inspired Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. A wide theatrical releaser this Christmas is being planned.
Bogart tells us, “We’ve set out to tell the greatest love story of all time, set to the musical pulse of our time. But Shakespeare only told part of that remarkable tale whose events changed the course of history!”
Voltage is handling international sales on Verona.
Bogart recently directed the 1970s-1980s set feature Spinning Gold about his record label exec father Neil Bogart’s rise and fall with Casablanca Records. That pic is coming out on March 31 in theaters.

It feels just like last month we were complimenting Hulu on its true crime offerings. Well, with its list of new releases for February 2023, Hulu is staying in the true crime lane. Suppose that’ll happen when you push back the release date of a series or two.
February sees the arrival of three notable true crime series on Hulu. Taiwan Crime Stories premieres on Feb. 1 and presents four true tales from Taiwan’s criminal “dark underbelly.” That will be followed by ABC News Studios’ Killing County on Feb. 3. That three-episode series ponders the question “what happens when police kill?” The most interesting true crime offering premieres on Feb. 9. That’s when Stolen Youth: Inside the Cult at Sarah Lawrence College shares its four-episode saga of Larry Ray and the young college students he victimized.

Bleak Faith: Forsaken is a new open-world RPG that is mixing things together to create something wholly original. Combining stealth gameplay mechanics and action-horror, this new title seems reminiscent of Dark Souls. It is easy to dismiss this game as another clone to the “Souls” games, but there’s a lot more happening under the hood. Players will take control of one of the “forsaken.” They must venture out from a distant outpost and explore the lands that are being corrupted by the Omnistructure. The key to surviving is adapting and constantly find new ways to survive on this dark terrain

Bows are a weapon type that was first introduced in Destiny 2 in the Forsaken expansion, and we haven’t seen too many of them added into the game since then. We’ve seen a few here and there, but all in all it’s mostly just been new Hand Cannons for a while. While Bows are certainly not the most powerful weapon type, I do feel that they have their place amongst everything else, and with certain Exotic Bows getting insanely powerful catalysts, I think it’s time that we see a shift into a Bow meta. Unfortunately, there’s only 4 Exotic Bows

Nobody has directed more episodes of The Mandalorian than Dave Filoni’s three, with the decision to recruit a revolving door of guest filmmakers giving each one a distinct visual flavor. That doesn’t mean there haven’t been some repeats, though.
Season 1 alumni Bryce Dallas Howard and Rick Famuyiwa have both returned, with the latter presumably directing next week’s installment given that he’s also the credited writer. And while we still don’t know who’s helming the finale, whoever it is, they’ve got a tough task on their hands to try and top Taika Waititi’s “Redemption” from last year.
Of course, Jon Favreau and Carl Weathers both made their Mandalorian bows this season as well, but so far, most of the plaudits have been taken by Robert Rodriguez for his fantastic action-packed effort “The Tragedy.”

This Star Trek: Lower Decks review contains spoilers.
Since it debuted, Star Trek: Lower Decks has made no bones about being a quirky sequel to The Next Generation. Yes, there are Easter eggs from Deep Space Nine to Enterprise, but the tone and spirit of the show is firmly Tng. And, in the finale episode of its first season, Lower Decks brings back a tradition that Tng arguably perfected: The season finale that makes you love the show ten times more than you already did.
The season finale of Lower Decks — “No Small Parts” — is not the best episode of the season. But then again, because this episode is the entire season in one hilarious jolt, it could easily serve as a quick way to get someone into the show who was holding out. Basically, “No Small Parts” feels like a real Trek season finale — not the season finale to comedy series.

The Upper Division continued their face-offs tonight, so who won, who lost, and who was worthy of a chance at redemption? Destiny 2’s season 11, Season of Arrivals, continues to tease a new Hive villain: Savathûn, the Witch-Queen. A master of lies and reality-bending magic, she’s the sister of Destiny raid boss Oryx, the Taken King. Depending on who you talk to, the Hive species to which both belong are either over-used or the game’s best enemies. They lend themselves to puzzles, swordplay, and a Gormenghastian story of an ever-crumbling dynasty. Savathûn herself has appeared in Destiny lore since 2015’s The Taken King expansion and has been the subject of rumors ever since.
Soon, Guardians may even get to meet her in person. In Destiny 2‘s current storyline, Savathûn’s transmissions have been playing havoc on Eris Morn’s attempts to research the Darkness’ weaknesses. Season 11’s key item, the seasonal artifact Seed of Silver Wings, is connected to this story.

Moving into the month of June, a lot of people around the world are still finding themselves stuck inside thanks to stay-at-home orders. As we all know, it can sometimes be a bit boring when you’re cooped up all day, but Amazon is hoping to make the next few weeks a little less stressful. Starting tomorrow, you’ll be able to download seven games for free – as long as you’re an Amazon or Twitch Prime member, that is.
As has become tradition, the retail giant will be offering these games free of charge for the next month. Come July, however, they’re set to vanish from the rotating catalog of free offerings, meaning you’ll want to grab them as soon as possible.
So, which titles will you be able to get your hands on? Well, anyone’s who eagerly awaiting the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 should check out Observer,...

This article is sponsored by Tor Books. The opinions reflect those of the writer.
As readers are preparing to dig into fantasy epic The Wheel of Time all over again with Amazon Prime’s forthcoming television adaptation, they’re also given the treat of experiencing a "new" Robert Jordan book.
After forty years of sitting on the shelf, Warrior of the Altaii, Robert Jordan’s first novel, is finally being released. While it very much has the flavor of a late-1970s fantasy, it’s a really good fantasy novel from that era. And, as a bonus for Wheel of Time readers, there are plenty of seeds they can detect in this early work that grew into something more fully-fledged in Jordan’s most famous series.

The heroes and villains of old return to Azeroth in World of Warcraft Classic. Here are the 15 characters you need to go meet immediately!
World of Warcraft has changed a lot in the last 15 years, and so have many of the game’s most popular characters. With every new expansion, developer Blizzard Entertainment has taken the game’s story in brand new directions, often introducing plot twists that have caused players to view some of their favorite characters in a whole new light. If you would have told any player back in 2004 that Bolvar Fordragon would one day replace Arthas Menethil as the Lich King, they would likely assume you had been reading some over-the-top fan fiction.
With the arrival of World of Warcraft Classic, we thought it would be a good time to get reacquainted with some of our favorite characters from the original version of the game.

Madrid — San Sebastian Festival has announced the third and final recipient of this year’s Donostia career achievement awards, Canadian actor Donald Sutherland. He will accept the honor before screening his latest film, Guiseppe Capotondi’s “The Burnt Orange Heresy.”
With more than 200 credited performances over the past half-century, Sutherland stands tall, literally and figuratively, as a major figure in world cinema. The actor was nominated eight times for a Golden Globe, in 2017 received an honorary Oscar for career achievement and in 2019 was named a Companion of the Order of Canada, one of the country’s most prestigious honors.
Sutherland first studied engineering before catching the acting bug and bouncing around performing arts schools in Canada and the U.K. It wasn’t long before the young actor made his way to screens in living rooms across the English-speaking world in popular series such as “The Saint” and “The Avengers.

Destiny 2's Year 3 expansion is called Shadowkeep. Here's what we know about it...
Bungie's next expansion for Destiny 2 is called Shadowkeep and it takes place on the Moon, where Guardians will face off against the Hive once again. The Year 3 expansion arrives on Sept. 17 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will be made available later this fall on Google Stadia at no additional cost for Stadia Pro subscribers.
Shadowkeep is a "completely standalone" experience, meaning you won't have to buy last year's Forsaken expansion, the Annual Pass, or the base game to play it. That should definitely make things less confusing for late adopters, especially at only $35.
The studio premiered the first trailer of the expansion during the Stadia Direct live stream in June. It begins with Eris Morn, the Hive expert from past Destiny stories, explaining that the Darkness is once again rumbling on the Moon,...

In September 2018, games studio Bungie shocked fans by doing the unthinkable; and doing it in the brashest, boldest way possible. It announced the release of an expansion pack for Destiny 2 and promoted it by promising the death of its most popular character. It’s a bold move for any studio but particularly one as prone to controversial decisions as Bungie. After causing outrage with the decision to lock off parts of Destiny 2 behind Dlc paywalls, it took a big risk revealing the demise of Cayde-6 before Forsaken was even released. It seems to have paid off though as

Bungie broke up with Activision, buying back the publishing rights for Destiny. Here's why...
Bungie's split from Activision, ending a publishing partnership that spanned almost a decade, remains one of the more shocking recent corporate moves in the games industry. In the process, Bungie bought back the rights to publish Destiny, freeing itself to choose a new direction for the series, one that doesn't involve a major publisher's sales expectations.
According to an Activision Blizzard earnings call (via PC Gamer) in February, those exact sales expectations are what caused a rift between publisher and studio. In fact, back in November, Activision stated it was unhappy with how Destiny 2's major Year Two expansion, Forsaken, had performed, despite the fact that the expansion was solid and seemed to revive the community a bit. But another big factor, one Activision COO Coddy Johnson seems more concerned about than sales,...

Without Activision, Bungie now has control of its own Destiny. Is this a good thing for the shooter franchise?
The planned ten-year contract between Bungie and Activision has ended two years early. Bungie announced in January that it would be taking full control of the Destiny franchise going forward. The separation of the two companies comes as a surprise, although the signs were there. Late last year, Activision expressed its disappointment with the latest Destiny 2 expansion, Forsaken, which failed to meet the publisher's sales expectations. While we don't know the exact reason for the split, it stands to reason that Destiny was becoming a riskier investment for Activision while Bungie felt more creatively restricted by the publisher's sales goals. Perhaps the breakup was mutual.
Bungie and Activision have reportedly disagreed regarding Destiny’s direction since day 1, according to Kotaku. It hardly needs to be said that Activision...

Bungie is ending its partnership with publisher Activision and retaining control of Destiny.
Developer Bungie has ended its eight-year partnership with publisher Activision and is taking full control of the Destiny franchise. The news was revealed in a blog post on Bungie's website, which revealed that the transition is already in its early stages, as Activision transfers Destiny publishing rights over to Bungie.
According to Kotaku, Bungie and Activision had shared a tense relationship since before the release of the first Destiny game. It seems like that tension was only made worse when Destiny 2: Forsaken, Bungie's latest expansion for the game, failed to meet Activision's sales expectations.
The studio originally had a 10-year publishing deal with the publisher, and there were even rumors that Bungie was beginning work on Destiny 3. It remains to be seen whether Bungie does indeed plan to move forward with another Destiny game.

In a surprising move, Bungie has announced that they are making giving away Destiny 2 for free to Battle.net gamers.
"We know Destiny players that want to play on PC expect an amazing experience, whether it’s on their own or with their friends—so, our paramount concern was to keep the discerning requirements of the PC community in mind, and welcoming the Battle.net and Bungie PC communities together," said Destiny 2: Forsaken game director, Steve Cotton. If you do not already own Destiny 2 for PC, you can download it for free via Battle.net from today until November 18th. Once you have downloaded it (the offer to do so should appear as a gift), it is yours to keep forever.

Destiny 3 might not be off the table at Bungie, if a new a rumor is to be believed...
Destiny 3 could be in development at Bungie, according to a series of rumors that recently hit Reddit. According to reliable Destiny leaker AnonTheNine (via PC Gamer), "The development is starting right now." The Redditor also said that Bungie veterans Chris Barrett and Luke Smith are involved with the project.
In a much longer thread of leaks, AnonTheNine also revealed that Destiny 3 will allow players to use Darkness abilities. Up until this point, Guardians have only been able to use the Light from the Traveler for their special abilities. The addition of Darkness could mean this potential sequel could have a whole new set of powers never before seen in the series. It also raises the question whether players will be able to play as characters not affiliated to the...

Destiny developer Bungie has registered a new trademark that may point at the studio's next project.
As Destiny 2 begins its second year of content drops and updates, Bungie is starting to look toward the feature. The Destiny developer has just registered a new trademark with the European Union Intellectual Property Office for something called "Matter." The trademark covers both "computer game software" and "online electronic services." Included with the registration is also a logo, which you can see above.
Now, let's get this out of the way, we have absolutely no idea what "Matter" actually is, but a recent deal with Chinese publisher NetEase does point to the possibility that it's Bungie's next game. In June 2018, Bungie announced that NetEase, which now owns a minor stake in the company, had invested $100 million to develop a new game for the publisher. It's possible that "Matter" is the game in question.

Last fall, I famously — or infamously, based on the comments — gave Bungie’s Destiny 2 five stars out of five. At launch, the compelling, deeply engaging story, and myriad of changes that Bungie made to the franchise elevated it to new heights. But soon after wrapping up the story and after a few weeks of end-game content, the cracks started to show, and if I had a chance, I would have definitely lowered the score to something more realistic. Now, in the second year of the second core Destiny game, Bungie has released Destiny 2: Forsaken, and they kicked it off by killing a major character, an event that reverberates throughout the game and the franchise (in every way) moving forward. The question is, will my verdict hold up down the line?
Destiny 2: Forsaken opens with Cayde-6 being killed after a mission to stop a prison break at the Prison of Elders.

The latest and most challenging Destiny 2 Raid becomes available this Friday! See the new teaser and get ready for the grind! More within...
Destiny 2: Forsaken is out in full force, with Guardians around the world focusing on toppling the Barons, their Scorn, and avenging Cayde-6. Several other Guardians have put that story in the rear-view mirror and have begun grinding with their, respective, clans to achieve the highest Light Level possible, all in preparation for Forsaken's Raid - The Last Wish.
This Friday, that preparation gets put to the test. On September 14, 2018 at 10Am Pt, Bungie and Activision will unlock the doors to the Dreaming City for the most difficult Raid, yet.
“Assemble a team… Send them into the heart of the City. Kill that creature and extract its heart.”
That's the mission, should you choose to accept it. Rather, if you're able to accept it. That's because...

Now that “Destiny 2’s” latest expansion, Forsaken, is almost here, developer Bungie is talking about its future plans for the online shooter in a new video documentary and blog post on its official website.
Forsaken ushers in an all-new season called Season of the Outlaw when it launches on Sept. 4. After it ends, subsequent seasons will last three months and include new experiences, events, rewards, and activities that will mostly be free for all “Destiny 2” players.
Meanwhile, the Forsaken Annual Pass will work differently than traditional post-launch “Destiny” expansions, Bungie said. It includes three major content updates called Black Armory, Joker’s Wild, and Penumbra. They will launch throughout the year alongside the free season content so players will have a steady stream of new things to do.
