This is the third project called "Partners" with which director James Burrows has been involved, after the 1982 Ryan O'Neal and John Hurt movie and the 1995 Tate Donovan and Jon Cryer TV series.
The painting of a man on set was also on the set of Will & Grace. A show by the same creators.
The show debuted to low viewership ratings, substantially lower than the sitcoms that preceded and followed it on Monday nights, getting worse as the season progressed. The low ratings started to disrupt the viewer flow to the following 9 PM success '2 Broke Girls (2011)', for which it served as a lead-in. On November 16, 2012, the series was abruptly removed from the schedule and cancelled. In total, only six episodes were broadcast out of 13 produced.
