Rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs has been facing a lot of controversies and backlash as of late, following all the misconduct allegations and civil s*xual assault lawsuits that multiple people and artists hit him with. Besides other accusations of some serious offenses against his name, quite a few of the allegations seem to have stemmed from the music titan’s infamous parties.

However, one of Combs’ close friends recently popped up to shed light on these accusations as a prime witness of some of those parties. This was none other than Marlon Wayans, and according to him, he never personally got to come across any of the supposed debauchery other party-goers have described going down at the record producer’s notorious throwdown.

While there is certainly no shortage of reasons to hate Harvey and Bob Weinstein, you can add “the way they treated the Wayans family” to the staggeringly long list.
It’s easy to forget just how wildly popular the first entry in the long-running Scary Movie franchise was. Directed by Keenen Ivory Wayans, 2000’s Scary Movie made a whopping $278 million at the worldwide box office. To put that in perspective, Scream, the movie it was directly parodying, only made $173 million. And the Wayans’ Scary Movie 2 was also a big hit, even without that cameo from Marlon Brandon.
Despite these achievements, Ivory Wayans, as well as his brothers and co-writers Shawn Wayans and Marlon Wayans, weren’t a part of Scary Movie 3. Why? Marlon has previously bemoaned the “evil” and “disrespectful” Weinsteins, whose company produced the Scary Movie films. Now he’s provided even more details about what happened while...

It’s important to talk about the groundbreaking films Black Americans made or acted in because they paved the way for Black films and actors today. It’s important to recognize films that have Black actors or creators because they are frequently overlooked by the industry and the general audience. Award shows like the Oscars are in a way helping keep Black films silenced because they are slow to expand their diversity efforts. An audience needs to be exposed to different types of stories in film because diversity exists in real life so it should be reflected on screen. Oscar winner Jordan Peele is the mastermind behind the smash hit horror films Get Out, Us and Nope. If you enjoyed those films, you'll be glad to know that Peele isn't done exploring the horror genre. He has a new horror flick slated to come out in the fall of next year, and it's called Him. More on this film below.
Previously titled Goat, Him is produced by Jordan Peele and his Monkeypaw Productions. Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal Watson also produce the film under the Monkeypaw Productions banner. David Kern and Monkeypaw’s Kate Oh are signed on as executive producers, while American television director and screenwriter Justin Tipping is helming the movie from a screenplay that was written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie.
Tipping is best known for writing and directing the adventure film Kicks, and helming episodes of the TV shows The Chi, Twenties, Flatbush Misdemeanors and Joe vs. Carole.

10. Idle Hands (1999)
As we all know, idle hands are the devil’s toy. This movie takes the biblical proverb’s meaning quite literally: one fine morning, the laziest teenager in the US realizes that his right hand has become all too independent.
Soon, he finds out that it has a murderous intent for anyone in its reach, and he must find a way to stop it.
You can watch Idle Hands on Apple TV and Prime Video.
9. Scary Movie (2000)
Just as the title implies, Scary Movie is a parody on one of the most popular horror genres back in the day: slashers. A group of teenagers who accidentally killed a man a year ago finds themselves stalked and methodically exterminated by a mumbling killer in a Scream mask. Why the Scream mask, you may ask? Because why not.
You can watch Scary Movie on Max, Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video.

Due to a complex series of anthropological mishaps, the Wayans Brothers are a huge deal in Brazil. Around these parts, White Chicks is considered a national treasure by a lot of people, so it stands to reason that Brazilian audiences would continue to accompany the Wayans’ comedic output long after North America had stopped taking them seriously as comedic titans.
This is the only reason why I originally watched Michael Tiddes and Marlon Wayans’ 2013 horror spoof A Haunted House – appropriately known as “Paranormal Inactivity” in South America – despite having abandoned this kind of movie shortly after the excellent Scary Movie 3. One of streamer Hulu’s original contributions to this year’s Halloween programming is terrifying new British horror film “Matriarch.”
In the film, after an overdose nearly takes her life, Laura Birch escapes from the high-stakes pressure of the advertising world to return to her roots. Accepting an invitation home from her estranged mother, Laura hopes the time away in the secluded English village will help calm the demons raging inside of her. She soon discovers that the locals of the town are all protecting an unspeakably dark secret – a secret that involves not only her mother but her own terrifying destiny as well.
The cast includes Jemima Rooper, Kate Dickie, Franc Ashman and Keith David Bartlett.
“Matriarch” is written and directed by Ben Steiner (“Monsterland 2”). Executive producers include David Worthen Brooks, Arbi Pedrossian, and Jenna Cavelle with production services by Sharp House producers Ian Sharp and Eoin O’Faolain, and co-producer Alexa Waugh.

It's very disheartening to see how parody movies have declined in the past few decades. Franchises like "A Haunted House" or "Scary Movie" are no longer funny, and they don't understand what spoofs need to do to be clever. A parody isn't defined by the number of current pop culture references or celebrity cameos it can fit in. At their best, parody movies should be able to offer insights into why a genre is worth poking fun at.

You know what everyone could use in the sweltering summer months? A nice, cold glass of…anime. At least that’s the particular theme that comes up in Netflix’s list of new releases for June 2021.
Netflix has been quietly expanding their anime offerings for awhile now but June is a particularly anime-heavy month. The absolutely metal sounding Record of Ragnarok arrives this month. So too do parts 1 and 2 of the newest Sailor Moon film on June 3 and Godzilla Singular Point on June 24.

Tisha Campbell, Essence Atkins, Tahj Mowry, Isaiah Mustafa, and Beth Grant have all been cast in ABC’s multi-cam comedy pilot “Black Don’t Crack,” Variety has learned.
The group joins previously announced series star Sherri Shepherd. The show follows three former sorority sisters who lost touch after college and reunite during a pivotal point in their lives. The show marks a reunion for Mowry and Atkins, who previously starred together in the Disney series “Smart Guy.”
Campbell will play Tasha Marks, described as a hip and fabulous Atlanta restaurateur who starts trends instead of following them. She holds nothing back and is brutally honest (sometimes to a fault) with her friends, but has been avoiding a truth in her own life. She’s achieved the perfect professional life and insists that she needs no man in her life to interfere with the career she’s worked so hard to create.

February may be the shortest month, but that doesn’t mean streaming services can ignore their duty to entertain us at all times. In that mission, Netflix is making a decent effort in February 2021. This isn’t the most jam-packed month the major streamer has trotted out just yet but there are plenty of new originals to get the job done.
Netflix has a few original series of note this month. The party begins with Kid Cosmic on Feb. 2. This animated series is a comic-tinged adventure from Craig McCracken, creator of the Powerpuff Girls. That’s followed by the Sarah Chalke and Katherine Heigl-starring Firefly Lane on Feb. 3 and Behind Her Eyes on Feb. 17. Perhaps the biggest sleeper this month, however, is Tribes of Europa. This post-apocalyptic adventure series premieres on Feb. 19.

The Wayans brothers have never exactly been bastions of high quality cinema, with Marlon in particular a repeat offender responsible for a string of terrible comedies like Little Man, Dance Flick, A Haunted House and the sequel, Fifty Shades of Black, Naked and Sextuplets. None of those movies found anything even approaching critical acclaim, but several of them did decent business at the box office and the 48 year-old has been collaborating with Netflix on a regular basis, so there must be a good sized audience for his work.
One entry from the writer/actor/producer’s back catalogue that’s remained inexplicably popular is White Chicks, the 2004 comedic effort directed by Keenen Ivory and starring Shawn and Marlon in the lead roles. It sees two sibling FBI agents go undercover and end up tasked with protecting the socialite Wilson sisters, before eventually being forced to disguise themselves as the titular white chicks.

Marlon Wayans is getting into business with HBO Max. The actor and comedian has struck an overall deal with the WarnerMedia streaming service and has set a number of projects.
The digital platform is developing a pilot for Book of Marlon, where he plays a fictionalized version of himself as he attempts to reconcile being a good person and father with being Marlon. Wayans has co-created the show with his long-time producing partner Rick Alvarez and will star. Wayans and Alvarez have written the pilot.
It is the first scripted project that HBO Max and Wayans have identified as part of a first-look deal at his scripted and unscripted projects.
Separately, he will perform a stand-up special for the service as well as host another multi-act special. His own, as-yet-untitled special, will look at his life and will “dig even deeper” than his recent special Woke-ish.

Most people don't get a chance to taste the victory of an important free speech ruling. On Friday, actor Marlon Wayans experienced success for the second time at California's Second Appellate District.
For several years now, Wayans has been defending his on- and off-set behavior during the making of A Haunted House 2. He's been in court with Pierre Daniel, who alleges that Wayans subjected him to repeated offensive language about his African American race and tweeted his picture alongside Family Guy character Cleveland Brown with the comment, "Tell me this nigga doesn't look like…This Nigga!!!"...

There’s no better way to start the romantic month than to binge watch all your favorite romantic films and series coming to Netflix this February. Valentine’s Day is approaching quickly, but Netflix has got it covered when it comes to finding the perfect film or show to get viewers in the mood. Get ready to grab the tissues because the sequel to “All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” is making its way to the streaming service on Feb. 12 along with other romantic films and series like “Dear John,” “Love Jacked,” “My Holo Love,” a new Korean sci-fi romance series, and “Love Is Blind,” a new dating show.
If romance isn’t in the stars in February, no worries: The streaming platform has got major classics on deck including “Starship Troopers,” “Dirty Harry” and “Purple Rain.” Or viewers can have a laugh with “Scary Movie 2,” coming Feb.

"Since we hit the road together, I've done things I've only seen on television." Netflix has just launched an official trailer for a new comedy from Marlon Wayans titled Sextuplets, and it looks as awful as it sounds and seems just from that title alone. From the director of the spoofs A Haunted House and Fifty Shades of Black comes a new comedy about an expecting father-to-be who discovers that he has many other siblings and tries to track them down before his baby is born. This is a spoof on, another comedy, maybe? But who cares, it looks terrible. Marlon Wayans stars in the lead role, and plays all the other siblings, much like Tyler Perry does in his movies. The cast also includes Molly Shannon, Glynn Turman, Bresha Webb, Debbi Morgan, and Michael Ian Black. Why do they still make these kind of movies? It looks so, so bad.

It comes as little surprise that Bill Murray is in Sofia Coppola’s upcoming “On the Rocks,” but the latest addition to the cast is a bit unusual: Marlon Wayans, who just joined the joint venture between Apple and A24. The actor, comedian, and screenwriter has mostly appeared in comedies throughout his career, from spoofs like “Scary Movie” and “A Haunted House” to TV series like “In Living Color” and his sitcom “Marlon,” but his filmography is not without auteur projects: Wayans worked with Darren Aronofsky on “Requiem for a Dream” and the Coen Brothers on “The Ladykillers.”
He’s also been involved with several Netflix projects of late, starring in 2017’s “Naked” and the upcoming “Sextuplets”; the streaming service also has exclusive rights to “Marlon” in many regions, advertising it as a Netflix Original outside the Us. Deadline first broke the news of his casting.

Hell hath no fury like disappointed horror fans, so please don’t go to “Light from Light” expecting a horror movie, which it most certainly isn’t. Rather, the film is a gentle, humanist drama that uses the idea of a haunted house to explore themes of doubt, wonder, and the search for meaning in the modern world.

One day the algorithm will swallow us whole. Until then, while we’re still able to keep our heads above the sea of content flooding the Netflix servers, there’s one constant anchor in the storm: Every week, Netflix adds a new standup special.
Some of them take on different shapes in front of different audiences. The return of the Netflix half-hour collection “The Standups” gives a more condensed alternative to some of its larger, longer counterparts. Giant names in the business have taken something close to a blank check approach to make something that doesn’t look, sound, or feel like the other titles next to it on the home menu.
That said, time is precious. Even the biggest comedy fans probably can’t keep up with every weekly addition. (Now that some comedians are dropping multiple specials simultaneously, they’ve become small seasons of television all their own.

For many, Groundhog Day qualifies as a near-perfect comedy. Apparently, though, there are some highly motivated people out there who think it’d be a whole lot funnier if the guy stuck in the endless time loop were constantly running around with his bare ass exposed and his hands covering his junk. Back in 2000, Swedish brothers Mårten and Torkel Knutsson tested this theory with their film Naken, in which protagonist Anders relives the same hour leading up to his wedding, over and over, waking up nude in an elevator each time the loop resets. Nobody liked Naken much, but Marlon Wayans seems to have decided that the problem lay in the execution, not in the conception—and to have further decided that he and director Michael Tiddes, with whom he’d previously collaborated on the critically reviled A Haunted House and Fifty Shades Of Black, could succeed where the ...

"I'm freakin' out!" Netflix has unveiled a trailer for a goofy comedy titled Naked, another new time loop film (in addition to two others this year alone - Before I Fall and Happy Death Day). From the director of the parody comedy A Haunted House, Marlon Wayans stars in Naked as a guy about to be married, who ignores his responsibilities and spends the night before the wedding partying with a friend. He wakes up naked in an elevator and must relive the next hour until he gets things right on his wedding day. Yeah, what a unique concept. The full ensemble cast features Regina Hall, Dennis Haysbert, Scott Foley, Loretta Devine, Neil Brown Jr., Dave Sheridan, Megan Messmer, Jonathan Todd Jackson, and Cory Hardrict. As much as I usually enjoy time loop films, this one looks pretty bad. Doubt I'll be watching this. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Michael Tiddes' Naked,...
