65, the “Adam Driver vs. dinosaurs” movie from the writing and directing duo of Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, didn’t have great success at the box office, but Beck and Woods aren’t letting that disappointment slow them down. They’re about to go into production on a new horror project called Heretic, which is set up at A24 – and The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Hugh Grant is in talks to star in the film!
Beck and Woods have written the script for the film. Details are scarce, but apparently the story has something to do with two missionaries that attempt to convert a dangerous man. There’s no word on who Grant would be playing this scenario, but it would be very cool to see him take on the role of the dangerous man. He has previously said that he finds villain roles to be “more fun” to play.

65 filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods long for the days when moviegoing was filled with mystery and intrigue regarding the experience that lies ahead.
Nowadays, cinemagoers are more aware than ever before of what they’re going to get on screen, due to increasingly revealing trailers that are turned into events and dissected to no end by fans and media outlets. There’s also no shortage of social media scoopers, but unfortunately, some of these parties fail to recognize that there’s a big difference between a scoop and a spoiler. Ultimately, even if you’re not seeking out such information, it’s very difficult to let the mystery be when more and more social media algorithms are feeding us information we didn’t exactly query.
In Beck and Woods’ case, they hoped to take a page out of Matt Reeves’ Cloverfield playbook by not revealing that their Adam Driver...

Fringe Realities’ upcoming VR horror game Project: Nightlight has unfortunately been hit with a snag in its release. “Haunt,” an early Halloween arrival that traps its collegiate protagonists inside an all-too-fatal holiday attraction, delivers a satisfying quantity of creeps and frights that more than compensate for the occasional lull. A step up from found-footage horror pic “Nightlight,” Scott Beck and Bryan Woods’ last directorial collaboration, this latest isn’t a beacon of conceptual originality, either. But that doesn’t matter much, as the writer-directors (co-scenarists of “A Quiet Place”) have a firm hold on atmosphere and demonstrate diverse enough suspense tactics to avoid a sense of slasher formula — while nonetheless hewing fairly close to that template.
With producer Eli Roth’s name as an additional lure, this should do well among genre fans in a limited 10-city theatrical release Sept. 13, simultaneous with On Demand and digital launch.
Though shot in Kentucky, “Haunt” is set in Carbondale, Ill., an improbably named but actual midwest college town. It’s Halloween,...

"Is this supposed to be scary?" Momentum Pictures has unveiled the first official trailer for an indie horror titled Haunt, a new haunted house horror co-directed by Scott Beck & Bryan Woods. This insanely freaky looking film is about a group of friends who encounter an "extreme" haunted house that promises to feed on their darkest fears. The night turns deadly as they come to the horrifying realization that some nightmares are real. Ohh yeah. They threw in every possible scary-as-f*!k idea into this and it looks excruciatingly horrifying. Katie Stevens stars, with Will Brittain, Lauryn Alisa McClain, Andrew Caldwell, Shazi Raja, Schuyler Helford, Phillip Johnson Richardson, Chaney Morrow. Looks way, way better than it should and I hope it's as terrifying as this trailer promises. Here's the first official trailer for Scott Beck & Bryan Woods' Haunt, direct from Momentum's YouTube: On Halloween, a group of friends encounter an...

*there are spoilers here. It would be best to watch the film first, before reading this review. Tagline: "If They Hear You, They Hunt You." Director: John Krasinski. Writers: Bryan Woods, Scott Beck and John Krasinski. Cast: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe. A Quiet Place is creating quite a storm at the box office. The film has already been slated to make over 50 million, in the film's opening weekend; that is no surprise. John Krasinski ("The Office") has crafted a horrifying sci-fi tale, along with writers: Bryan Woods (Nightlight, 2015) and Scott Beck. In this film landscape, creatures haunt the woods, attracted by sound. So, characters must use sign language just to survive. There is constant tension as the Abbott family experiences one tragedy or catastrophe after another. The constant catastrophes lead to one major character's death. This sacrifice is for the greater good and a myth that recurs in film,...

We were deep in conversation with Michael Bay when it hit us: How did our failures bring us here? The film we had written and executive produced had just premiered to a wildly energized opening night audience at SXSW, and Bay was already discussing what we could work on next. It was only yesterday that we were two kids sitting side-by-side in an Iowa multiplex, trying to hide genuine tears of emotion from each other as Bruce Willis sacrificed himself at the climax of “Armageddon.” Now the man behind the Bayhem was standing in front of us as a producer on our film, because three words brought us together: “A Quiet Place.”
The origins of “A Quiet Place” date back to our college years, as we became obsessed with the silent cinema of Charlie Chaplin, F.W. Murnau, Buster Keaton, and Jacques Tati. These filmmakers were masters of visual storytelling, needing...

It may seem prudent to seek out a little peace after headlining the upcoming Jack Ryan TV show, and the now-filming Mary Poppins Returns respectively, and that is exactly what John Krasinski and Emily Blunt have signed on to do – with their commitment to A Quiet Place. The project is being developed at Paramount, with Michael Bay on board as a co-producer, and will see Krasinski write, direct, produce and act, with Blunt as his co-star.
Reportedly scheduled for a late-2017 shoot, the plot details of A Quiet Place are currently shrouded in mystery – but given the body of work already amassed by those involved, we can glean a lot of information from the way in which this movie is coming together. The early draft of the script was written by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, who have written a number of horror movies together – including Nightlight and Spread. John Krasinski...

Here's one of those 'This'll make you feel old' factoids - it's two years since the last ever episode of Skins aired.
E4's groundbreaking hormone-fest wrapped up on August 5, 2013 - with an older Cook (Jack O'Connell) heading off into an uncertain future at the close of 'Rise (Part Two)'.
Cook was but one of 27 major characters featured on Skins across three 'Generations' - in a total of 61 episodes, split into seven series. But where are the teen tearaways of Roundview College now?
Generation One
1. Nicholas Hoult
Hoult played Tony Stonem - the pre-eminent bad boy of Skins - across its first two series. Later badly hurt in a traffic accident and forced to rely on others, Tony had mellowed by his final episodes.
Now aged 25, Hoult has become a bona-fide Hollywood star with roles in this year's Mad Max: Fury Road and the much-anticipated book adaptations Dark Places and Kill Your Friends.

I’m starting to think that I should create a boilerplate introduction for generic found footage horror movies, just so I don’t have to keep repeating myself every time another one of these lost puppies ends up at my doorstep. Seriously. It seems like I’m cranking out at least one found footage review a week, most of which are built upon formulaic blocks made of cheap scares, poor production values, and weak storytelling.
My latest shaky-cam foray, Nightlight, is another jumbled found footage romp, but there’s something even sadder about this specific film – it didn’t have to suffer such a fate. There’s a fresh concept hidden beneath weak jolt-tactics and dim flashlights, but it’s never given a chance to breathe. You can’t force an urban legend, and that’s exactly what filmmakers Scott Beck and Bryan Woods attempt to do.

Nightlight is available starting today on VOD and in theaters, and we caught up with directors Scott Beck & Bryan Woods to discuss urban legends and their unique approach to Pov filmmaking:
Thanks for taking the time to talk with us. Can you tell our readers what brought the two of you together for Nightlight?
Beck/Woods: We’ve actually known each other since we were 11, and we’ve been making movies together as long as we’ve been friends. Throughout middle school and high school we made dozens of shorts and no-budget features, which really taught us the craft of filmmaking. We never formally studied film production aside from consuming DVD features and commentaries (“That Moment” on the Magnolia DVD is beyond inspirational), so we always refer to those early years as our “film school” experience. Since then we’ve constantly co-written and co-directed all of our works, including a...

If you played games like Ghost in the Graveyard growing up, you might remember the way your skin prickled when you searched the shadows for your friend, who was, in turn, crouched out of sight and waiting to pounce out of the darkness when you got near. Cast: Shelby Young, Chloe Bridges, Carter Jenkins, Mitch Hewer, Taylor Murphy and Kyle Fain. Nightlight is a micro-budget horror feature from Herrick Entertainment. Shot in Salt Lake City, Utah, the film focuses on several friends and a night game of hide-and-go-seek, with spirits! The story also focuses on the loss of Ethan (Kyle Fain), a depressed, young man. He is shown only in the first few and final few frames. The rest of the film is chock full of chase sequences, dark settings and very little conflict. Even the horror tone of the film slips into thriller territory, with a tale of revenge finally emerging near the end of the picture.
