Michael Biehn’s directorial debut, The Victim, will be released on Blu-ray and DVD tomorrow. The film stars Michael Biehn, along with his wife Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, and I recently talked to the two of them about the inspiration behind this exploitation-style movie, working as a husband and wife team, and future projects:
You mentioned Robert Rodriguez’s Rebel Without a Crew in the end credits of The Victim. How did your work with Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino on Grindhouse inspire you to take on The Victim?
Michael Biehn: I didn’t realize that I had even seen a grindhouse movie and I had never heard the word grindhouse before I worked with Robert Rodriguez. My parents used to take me to drive-in theaters and the main feature would play at 8:00, like Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. As kids, we’d be down in front playing before...

The new grindhouse factory from Tinseltown’s fringes, Blanc-Biehn Productions, grabbed some buzz from Cannes today, as word circulated about their link-up with infamous French horror film director, Xavier Gens. The Divide brought these two take-no-prisoners talents together earlier this year. Now, in true indy-grit fashion, they’re taking a family approach to generating a trio of high-intensity noir films.
It’s a natural bond. Biehn, his partner Jennifer Blanc-Biehn, and Gens share a frontier spirit when it comes to film-making: Grab a colony of folks you trust and head into the wilderness on your own dime.
The results should be appropriately wild.
The Farm is the first in this slate of tragic tales. It’ll sport many of the cast members from The Divide, Biehn and Gens riding that family dynamic’s energy as far as it can take them. That’s a good call, as The Divide demanded...

Biehn plays a broken man who must fight his inner demons to save his farm from a greedy corporation and an inhuman force.
The first film in a planned series of grind house movies, shooting on the project begins early next year in Canada after Gans finishes the upcoming "Cold Skin" and a French gangster film for Gaumont.

It's a few years now since the whole Grindhouse debacle, but it seems that Michael Biehn is still feeling the Planet Terror vibe. He's just embarked on a partnership with his recent Divide director Xavier Gens to produce no fewer than three gnarly new grindhouse horror projects. The first will be Gens' The Farm, starring scream queen Danielle Harris. Don't expect much in the way of groovy trains or Adge Cutler-type cider consumption: this Farm is about a "veteran" (of what?) returning to his Texas home, only to find himself immediately fighting again. His new war is on three fronts: against his innner demons, the greedy corporation that wants his land, and also a "horror that threatens to devour the American heartland". The Tea Party? If only.Harris (Stakeland, Hatchet 2, various Halloweens, including Rob Zombie's) is obviously no stranger to horror, and she'll co-star with Michael Eklund and Ivan Gonzalez,...
