The mixed reception for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” was expected to bring a big drop to its box office grosses in its second weekend, but it wasn’t expected to lead to the worst weekend drop in Marvel Studios history and the worst that the box office has seen in over a decade.
“Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” fell to $32 million in its second weekend, suffering a 69.8% drop from its $106 million opening. That’s not only the worst second weekend hold for Marvel Studios but the worst seen by any blockbuster with a $100 million-plus opening since “Batman v: Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which opened to $166 million on Easter weekend in 2016 and then fell 69.1% to $51 million the next weekend.
The previous record for worst second weekend drop for a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie belonged to “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which slid 67.1% last summer from its $144 million opening last summer.

Actor Laurence Fishburne has often had nothing but kind things to say about his experience in the sci-fi series The Matrix. But he wasn’t too shy to admit that the sci-fi franchise could perhaps improve in certain areas.
Laurence Fishburne expected ‘The Matrix’ sequels to get negative reviews Laurence Fishburne | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
The first Matrix movie is highly regarded in the film community. Apart from garnering rave reviews from critics at the time, to this day many see it as one of cinemas best movies. Rolling Stone, for instance, ranked The Matrix as #15 in a list ranking the greatest films of the 90s.
However, the Matrix sequels didn’t seem to meet the same kind of acclaim as the first. The second film, Matrix Reloaded, was the most financially successful of the three according to The Numbers. But it didn’t attract the same praise that The Matrix enjoyed.

Tom Hanks is, once again, proving his worth as one of the world's most beloved movie stars. While some of the actor's more recent work has been relegated to the streaming world (such as "Finch" and "Pinocchio"), Hanks made his return to the silver screen at the tail end of last year with "A Man Called Otto," a relatively rare adult-skewing movie that was, for all intents and purposes, an original film, even though it is adapted from the book by Fredrik Backman. Now, more than eight weeks into its run, the film has crossed a pretty impressive milestone.
As per The Numbers, director Marc Forster's latest has officially crossed the $100 million mark at the global box office. That includes $61.1 million domestic and $39.2 internationally for a grand total of $100.4 million. That is, without a doubt, rare air for this kind of movie in the pandemic era. Adult-focused movies have...

The first bonafide blockbuster of 2023 arrived in theaters over the weekend in the form of Marvel's "Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania." And while some people are feeling a touch of Marvel fatigue, it didn't matter. The Marvel Cinematic Universe delivered once again as the third solo "Ant-Man" flick exceeded expectations on its way to a 105.5 million opening weekend, per The Numbers. Including the Monday President's Day holiday, that number should climb to 120 million or more. Needless to day, Disney is quite happy, despite the not-so-great reception.
Even more than 2021's "Eternals," director Peyton Reed's "Quantumania" has proved that the MCU remains the most bullet-proof brand in all of entertainment. Despite having a 47 "rotten" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film bested estimates heading into the weekend and easily set an "Ant-Man" franchise record, with the original film opening to 57 million and 2018's "Ant-Man and the Wasp" debuting to 76 million. And yet,...

Despite being one of his generation’s biggest stars, Robin Williams still wasn’t immune to career disappointment. At the peak of his popularity, in the early 1990s, Williams even had a falling out with Disney over Aladdin, blemishing one of his most celebrated roles. While Aladdin surged to international success, it overshadowed the outlook of Toys, a personal project for Williams that ended up one of the few bombs of his legendary career.
Robin Williams didn’t like the way ‘Aladdin’ was marketed
Robin Williams was at the top of his game when he sat down with Disney in 1991 to begin work on Aladdin. Seeing Williams’ explosive talent as perfect for animation, Disney execs teamed him up with animator Eric Goldberg to see how to turn standup routines into movie magic. According to an interview with Goldberg in the L.A. Times, Williams immediately saw the comedic angle for the...
