After the massive (pun intended) success of “Fixer Upper: The Castle” last year, Chip and Joanna Gaines are continuing their franchise with “Fixer Upper: The Hotel.” The new six-episode half-hour series, produced by Blind Nil, will debut on Magnolia Network in November.
Details and the first trailer were unveiled during Warner Bros. Discovery’s press day on Wednesday.
“For us, this project represents everything we are most passionate about — hospitality, restoration and home,” the pair shared. “We’ve always been firm believers in the value of home, as a place but also as a feeling. Our dream for this hotel is that it would serve as an extension of home to every guest who comes to stay.”
The duo first revealed the news for the hotel renovation in Variety‘s November cover story.

Chip Gaines and Joanna Gaines skyrocketed into stardom when their show Fixer Upper premiered on HGTV in 2013. The series highlights the power couple’s remodeling and design business and has led to several spinoffs, such as Fixer Upper: Welcome Home and Fixer Upper: The Castle. When Chip and Joanna Gaines return to the “Fixer Upper” world, the fans turn out in droves.
The couple’s new series, “Fixer Upper: The Castle,” drew more than 4.5 million total linear viewers for their Magnolia Network during its six-episode run between Oct. 14 and Nov. 18. The show, which followed the Gaineses as they renovated a 100-year-old castle they purchased in their hometown of Waco, Texas, is the channel’s highest-rated series among adults 25-54 behind only “Fixer Upper: Welcome Home,” the second iteration of their beloved HGTV series.
That is counting since 2009, the years when Magnolia Network was still DIY Network, the Discovery-owned channel that was rebranded and launched as Magnolia back in January as part of a joint venture between the Gaineses and Warner Bros. Discovery.
As Variety previously reported, “Fixer Upper: Welcome Home” is also a hit on the streaming side, with both HBO Max and Discovery+ — which each streamed the show,...

Chip and Joanna Gaines are longtime friends of Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav, a man who has backed them since before “Fixer Upper” was a hit the first time around. Now, Zaslav is banking on his buddies Chip and Jo to help him bridge the gap between Discovery+ and HBO Max subscribers in the coming months, as Warner Bros. Discovery plans the literal combination of the two streamers.

The latest season of “Fixer Upper,” a special “The Castle” edition focusing around Chip and Joanna Gaines renovating a 100-year-old castle in their hometown of Waco, Tex., just concluded its six-episode run on Magnolia Network, Discovery+ and HBO Max. But the Gaineses have already moved onto their next on-screen renovation, which is particularly significant for them, as the final product is going to be an integral part of their Magnolia empire: Hotel 1928, a boutique downtown Waco location that will cater to the throngs of people who make a pilgrimage to their outdoor shopping, dining and recreation area, The Silos.
“We are currently filming the hotel renovation and the irony there is the architect who did the work on the castle back in the day, Roy Lane, was the same architect on this hotel when it was first built,” Joanna Gaines said during a cover story interview for Variety‘s inaugural Lifestyle Leaders issue.

The price of HBO Max could be going up soon — even as Warner Bros. Discovery accelerates plans to smush HBO Max and Discovery+ together next year.
HBO Max has not raised the 14.99/month price on its ad-free tier since the May 2020 launch, Jb Perrette, president and CEO of global streaming and games at Warner Bros. Discovery, noted on the company’s Q3 earnings call. By 2023, he said, “it will have been three years since pricing has moved, which we think is an opportunity, particularly in this environment.”
“We believe there’s actually some pricing advantage for us on the ad-free [HBO Max] service and we can probably move north of where the prices are today,” Perrette said.
At the same time, Warner Bros. Discovery has moved up its planned U.S. launch of the combined HBO Max-Discovery+ platform to spring 2023, a quarter ahead of what it was aiming for previously, CEO David Zaslav said on the call.
