Raging Bull: After the Fight (2005)

*** (out of 4)

The final of a four-part documentary that can be found on the RAGING BULL Special Edition from MGM. Martin Scorsese, Joe Pesci, Cathy Moriarty, Robert Chartoff, Henry Winkler, Michael Chapman and Thelma Shoonmaker are interviewed about the end result of their hard work. Frank Warner is also on hand to discuss the sound mix he put onto the movie and after this we go to the film being released. They talk about the first reviews were quite negative and then Scorsese talks about how shocked he was that United Artist made their money back and that the film gathered up several Oscar nominations. Pesci and Moriarty talk about the impact that the film had on their career and cinematographer Chapman talks about the "joke" that Scorsese didn't win the Best Director Oscar. Out of the four parts there's no question that this here is the weakest as you really don't get to know anything. The main topic is the film's release but we don't even get to hear from Robert DeNiro about the praise his performance got and of course his Oscar win.
