Enormous critical acclaim is nice, I’m sure. It is, after all, what television writers and actors aspire to. But there’s also a joy in being a sleeper hit; a cult show that cruises under the radar but develops an obsessed following. Less glamorous, though, is programming that achieves middling commendations, medium admiration. Prime Video’s The Marvelous Mrs Maisel is in this latter category: good reviews, a smattering of Emmys, and decent audiences on Amazon’s streaming service can’t hide the fact that Amy Sherman Palladino’s late-1950s comedy-drama has always been a touch unloved. As the curtain comes down with its fifth and final series, is it time to reappraise one of the warmest, wittiest shows of recent years?
Sailor-mouthed comedienne Midge (Rachel Brosnahan) is back, dealing with the fallout of her fling with fellow stand-up Lenny Bruce (Luke Kirby). But more than anything, she...

He’s Mike in the hit BBC sitcom Ghosts. He’s a contestant on the latest series of Taskmaster. But perhaps most importantly, he’s the composer of the new hit song ‘One On A Barge Pole… For Meeee.’
Okay, so we slightly embellished that last fact, but Kiell Smith-Bynoe is Having A Bit Of A Moment right now, and fast becoming a household name. And it’s about bloody time.
Here’s where you can catch up on the wealth of existing Ksb goodness, from sitcoms to shorts to the unsung genius of his Channel 4 sketch show:
More Than Just Ghosts: Kiell is a Sitcom King
Yes, he’s probably best known for playing Mike – Alison’s lovable husband, Christmas Dinner-Maker Extraordinaire and co-owner of Button House – in Ghosts, but Kiell Smith-Bynoe’s sitcom chops go far beyond that. In fact, he’s had roles in many of the most celebrated,...

Lily Allen has recalled a time Lindsay Lohan broke her out of her hotel room to go and get a matching friendship tattoo – which the singer later covered up.
During an appearance on the latest episode of the Off Menu podcast, Allen, 37, told hosts James Acaster and Ed Gamble that, more than a decade ago, the two stars got tattoos together when they were “very, very inebriated”.
“She broke me out of the Chateau Marmont hotel at about three o’ clock in the morning, and I had promo to do the next day so they had security out the front of my hotel room, because I was very badly behaved in those days,” recalled Allen.
“But [Lindsay] knew how to get out the back way, so she came to my room and we jumped over the fence at the back of the hotel and ran down Sunset Boulevard to Shamrock Tattoo Parlour,...

Dreamland, like the Margate amusement park it’s named after, wears its brashness on its sleeve. Three minutes into the Sky Atlantic comedy, which is based on Sharon Horgan’s award-winning 2017 short, viewers have already been exposed to inflatable penises, a cannibalistic bunny, and, erm, “perineum oil”. But beneath the slapstick and cotton-candy hues, dark family secrets are lurking. There’s also commentary on class and race dynamics in British seaside towns. All of these elements play out to varying levels of success, but you can’t fault Dreamland for trying. Everything it does, it does with gusto.
It’s Trish’s (former Doctor Who companion Freema Agyeman) baby shower and the entire house, from the crystals to the TikTok-inspired chicken drumsticks, is pink. Wide-eyed and manic, Trish is desperate for a baby girl – hence the “manifestival” – and her partner Spence (the ever-excellent Kiell Smith-Bynoe) is happy to go along with it.

Los Angeles, April 2 (Ians) Actress Lily Allen has revealed her adult Adhd diagnosis and said that the condition “sort of runs in my family” but confirmed that she had only recently received the diagnosis.
Unsurprised by the diagnosis, she explained she could relate to many of the traits as adults with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder as those with the condition struggle with symptoms such as impulsiveness, recklessness and a short attention span, reports aceshowbiz.com.
The ‘Smile’ singer told The Times newspaper: “I’ve had to completely switch off social media because as soon as I look at it, it can be hours of my day gone.”
The actress, who is married to the ‘Stranger Things’ actor David Harbour, added: “It sort of runs in my family. And it’s only because I’m here in America where they take these things slightly more seriously than they do in England.

Lily Allen has hit out at the “misogynistic and awful” music industry amid her burgeoning acting career.
The star had chart-topping success in the 2000s with songs “Smile” and “The Fear”, and has released four records, the most recent arriving in 2018.
However, in 2021, she starred in the stage play 2:22: A Ghost Story, and is now set to make her TV debut in comedy drama Dreamland. Following this, Allen will co-lead new Martin McDonagh play The Pillowman on the West End later this year.
Allen acknowleged that the career gearshift might take her music fans by surprise, but said it was actually “more surprising” that she embarked on a music career.
“It is the family business,” she told The Times, referring to her acting father, Keith Allen, and brother, Alife Allen.
“If you were to look at me when I was 16 years old, people would have said, ‘Well, she...

It's easy to assume that pop-star-turned-actor Lily Allen and her "Stranger Things" actor husband, David Harbour, knew of each other before they embarked on their first date. But you'd be wrong. During an appearance on "The Jonathan Ross Show," which will air April 1, Allen said had no idea who Harbour was, had never watched the Netflix show (where had she been?!), and actually thought he was a policeman.
The couple met on celebrity dating app Raya, but Allen wasn't taking her swiping seriously. "It was the first time I'd been on this dating app. I was scrolling through and landed on David's profile and pressed accept," she said. "I didn't know who he was. I thought he was just like a sexy policeman from a reality TV show. He was wearing a policeman's uniform. It was a still from 'Stranger Things.' I'd never seen 'Stranger Things.'...
