Several cast and crew members can be seen in polaroids at the end of the bar, including director Joshua B. Porter, producer Matthew Donaldson and members of the rock band The Illness.
The producers are huge San Francisco Giants fans, which explains the inclusion of World Series framed newspaper in the final frames.
The filmmakers wanted to tell a dark tale about obsession and based it on "The Story of Layla & Majnun", a love story that originated as poem in 11th Century Arabia.
Though the filmmakers kept a close eye on the tide schedule while filming in the cave, a storm out in the ocean caused the tides to rise. This lead to the camera and other equipment to almost get pulled out into the Pacific Ocean.
The 11th century poem "The Story of Layla and Majnun" that was the inspiration for the music video was also the inspiration for the Eric Clapton song "Layla" (1971).
