When Tara (Rutina Wesley) tells Elijah (Keram Malicki-Sánchez) "I don't know nothin' 'bout birthin' no vampire babies!" was a nod to Gone With The Wind (1939) and its infamous line spoken by Prissy (Butterfly McQueen) "I don't know nothin' bout birthin' babies!". Tara has mentioned the film before, saying her neglectful mom named her after the slave plantation Tara.
In this episode Bill uses the 'As your maker, I command you...' to get Jessica to go with his security team, but Bill released Jessica seasons ago. As such, she would not be obligated to listen his 'command'.
Camilla Luddington (Claudette) and Tina Majorino (Molly) both appear in this episode, even though they aren't in any scenes together. They will later on go on to be doctors in Grey's Anatomy in the same intern class (2012). Scott Foley who was throughout the season was also in many episodes of Greys.
