Can't believe I thought I might get a decent documentary about an interesting person. But it's filled with the trash of TMZ. The narrator and all the TMZ employees interviews sound like tabloids yelling at you about some shocking revelation or situation as they constantly repeat the same information that any 10 year old could figure out.

It's hard to enjoy any aspect of the special with all this and would have been better as a YouTube video compiling interviews of Richard as the answer is pretty clear why he stopped being public. (I'm not saying it bc I don't want to have to spoiler warn but it's exactly what you think it is).

TMZ is just once again suckling on the celebrity of someone else to get views while contributing absolutely nothing to society. Just read an article about it or go look up other restrospectives on him.

What a waste of about an hour. Let me save you from that agony, he left the limelight because he wanted to quit while on top. He also was born with a foot issue that caused knee issues that caused him a lot of pain.

This is a man who had a difficult childhood and is deeply troubled. He has a huge heart and he did his best for decades to help others who hurt like he did, but ultimately he wisely stepped away from that stressful life to just be who he really is, a man who loves and has earned his solitude. TMZ had no business interfering with that. Plus the documentary is a colossal bore.

I wish Richard nothing but the best but we need to leave that man alone. He has earned the right to be left in peace.

Learned hardly anything new and only asked questions. Had 15 minutes of commercials that each had previews and summaries of the same thing surrounding. Waste of time watching this episode.

Saw this on Tubi and thought it would be interesting. Boy was I ever wrong!

Growing up in the 90s this man was EVERYWHERE! His quirky ways and love of people was unusual to the rest of the world at this time, in my opinion. With all the other celebrities making news, not hearing about Richard Simmons wasn't a big deal.

But like I said earlier saw this and figured I'd watch it to see what happened to this lovable, quirky man. Anyway, ten minutes in I fast forward to the end because it was basically tabloid trash.

*****Spoiler alert******* Richard has knee problems which caused him to retire. That's it. You're welcome.

You know those YouTube videos that make huge promises in their title and make you spend time waiting for them to provide the information promised but which never arrives? Well this is one of those types. In the end there's nothing but theory and Simmons himself has not given any indications of why he quietly retired and no longer shows himself in public. He admittedly is a recluse , he's very wealthy, and he's retired. What more do we need to know? Personally, I didn't know Simmons was missing - he was in his 60s when he allegedly disappeared from the Limelight. Most celebs kind of drop out of sight and there are others we wish would do us that favor. I was surprised at the footage of him younger because I don't remember him younger at all. I do remember him and the seventies and the fitness explosion but I mainly remember him for the sweating to the oldies stuff. No disrespect to Richard but he was not my cup of tea. For me he was kind of a Bozo the Clown meets Mrs Doubtfire and, as someone who studied psychology, I could see right through all of that facade and I felt sorry for the guy. So I was curious what might have happened to him. Well you won't find out here. There's nothing to it; he's retired. TMZ is just pulling your strings.
