Ten years after the invention of the “Drunk History” format, comedian Derek Waters is reconsidering how to describe the performers who get wasted, then narrate their take on a pivotal moment in history. “I want to start calling them ‘storytellers,'” he said. “It sounds more important. I think ‘narrator’ sounds like a voiceover actor.”
Indeed, the term “narrator” doesn’t quite do justice to what intoxicated celebrities bring to the series, which returned to television Tuesday night after nearly 13 months off the air.
Tuesday’s “Drunk History Christmas Special” will be followed by the show’s full return on January 23. It’s been a long time since new “Drunk History” episodes premiered, something Waters (who co-created the show with Jeremy Konner) acknowledged. “If I was a fan, I’m thinking the show’s over,” he said. “‘I thought you were dead.’ But that’s better like that than people going,...

This means we probably won't live out our lifelong fantasy of making out with this particular Mouseketeer, and that's okay.

For more than 35 years, NBC’s Saturday Night Live has reigned as TV’s best live sketch show.
During this time, comedians have broken out into stars, musicians have found stardom, and celebrities have shown audiences a different side of themselves — all from appearing on one stage.
Though the regular cast brings viewers back week after week, the musical guest and particularly the host help lure in new or casual audiences. This season, the show’s 38th, has seen the likes of Louis C.K. (FX’s Louie), Daniel Craig (Skyfall) and, last week, Anne Hathaway (Les Misérables) tackling hosting duties.
Jeremy Renner (The Avengers) is set to host this week. Considering such entertaining guest stars, I thought about who else I’d like to see take the stage.
Here are my choices for the top 10 celebs I want to host SNL this season:

Why did the International Academy of the Digital Arts and Sciences choose Patton Oswalt to host this year’s 16th Annual Webby Awards? Oswalt has an inkling: “I look like the Internet personified,” he told an audience filled with celebrities, tech bigwigs, and humble entertainment journalists this afternoon. But Oswalt needn’t have been so self-deprecating. His jokes were uniformly well-received at Monday’s awards ceremony, especially when the comedian went off book. This, for example, is how Oswalt reacted after Game of Thrones actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau accepted a statuette on behalf of Greenland.com: “I think winter just came!

Louis C.K. is "person of the year," as dubbed by the 16th annual Webby Awards.

The comedian claims the honorable distinction this year thanks to his digital-only release of stand-up special Louis C.K. - Live at the Beacon Theater, which earned more than $1 million in two weeks at just $5 a pop.
Sharing the spotlight with Webby Actresses of the Year are Graydon Sheppard and Juliette Lewis for their YouTube series Shit Girls Say, which became a viral phenomenon spawning a never-ending outpour of imitators in the past year. It should be also noted that Sheppard is a dude.
Funny Or Die scored a double-whammy picking up an award for Drunk History Christmas featuring Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes. Fod's co-founder Will Ferrell also won an award for his impersonation of President George W. Bush reacting to Osama Bin Laden's death.

Over a decade after it debuted on Saturday Night Live, Will Ferrell’s George W. Bush impression is still paying dividends. The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences announced today that Ferrell had nabbed a Webby Award for Best Individual Performance in an online video; the clip in question, which appeared on Ferrell’s site Funny or Die, shows Ferrell’s Bush learning about the death of Osama Bin Laden.

The German Short Film. Nick Ryan‘s The German (2008) short film stars Toby Kebbell, Christian Brassington, Glenn Mullins, Gary Murphy, and David Ryan. The German‘s plot synopsis: “November 1940, during the greatest conflict man has ever known, an epic duel unfolds between two ace pilots, each willing to take the match to it’s ultimate conclusion. Unknown to the pilots is a fate neither has considered.”
This short film immediately reminded me of the Paths of Hate (2010) short film. Since The German came out before that short film, perhaps it inspired it. Paths of Hate is far better though in my opinion, but The German has a better ending.
The German is a testament to the level of work being done in the short film format these days.
