This make the THIRD episode in a row that the Flash has failed to appear in uniform. Not that I am jones-ing for the character in uniform all the time, but the show is called THE FLASH. Where is he?
There may be some camera tricks and light CGI to simulate the title character, but Grant Gustin has once again not donned the red suit, Guess he really hates it. Instead, for some weird reason, in one part of the episode, he wears a uniform that is suspiciously close to those on "Star Trek: The Next Generation" - except with a Flash badge instead of the Starfleet communicator badge. Not sure why this was a creative decision.
Also evident are the obvious cost-savings in production. The majority of the episode is set in one part of STAR Lab, with minor scenes in other established set pieces (like home and the coffee shop) - very cost effective.
The story involves a weird time travel plot that really doesn't involve the 2023 Flash. There was no drama, no sense of urgency, nothing.
The coming attractions for the next episode (delayed until near the end of the month) appear to be a return to a costumed Flash, along with the inexplicable return of some deceased characters. (No one really dies on television anyway.) There are now 5 episodes left in the series and we are no closer to a "big villain", a coming crisis, or anything really. The Flash continues to limp to the finish line.
