I liked the movie so far

Warning: Spoilers
From the day the trailer of this movie came out, I saw a level of hate on social media, I didn't understand why. So I went to see the movie on Wednesday, which was discount day.

First I want to make it clear that I totally understood why the hatred of men mainly, especially since none of the women come out showing their bodies in bikinis or short suits. In fact, women take control throughout the film, yes it's stereotyped, but sometimes we need to reach those stereotypes for there to be a change in society.

That was in fact what I liked the most, that for the first time a film with this theme was made in Costa Rica, but above all that they chose women as the main cast. I liked all the performances. The only thing I didn't like was the party scene, not because it was bad, but because it was the scene with the most production design and I would have wanted to see more of it and something else developed there.

There are some slow parts, but I understand that there is no budget to maintain fights and action for the two hours that the film lasts. I would like to see more movies like this in Costa Rica, not just those dramatic movies that are always made. A 9 out of 10 because I needed more from the party scene and I would have liked a couple more action scenes at least.

I didn't expect this. Amazing movie.

Ok, let's start knowing that Costa Rican movies are boring. Most of them are slow and boring comedies or dramas. Even this director's last movie is kind of boring. But wow with this movie, it changed completely. I definitely needed to see something Costa Rican that was so different, risky and of good quality. It has the low budget details of any Latin American movie, but it doesn't interfere with anything. The photography is the best I've seen in Costa Rican cinema. But the best thing was the music, just amazing, you can definitely tell it was made abroad. I try to look for negative points but I can't get ut of my head the fact that this is a Costa Rican movie, that makes the merit double and that is why I applaud that they have done something like this. If you compare this movie to Avenger or DC Movies you have no idea what you're talking or even watching. It's logical they're not trying to be like them, they just can't, that's why they did something no super-hero, common sense.

I highly recommend this movie. It has very interesting things, it is out of the mold of Costa Rican drama movies. I really liked the photography, the production part is good. I saw the movie at cinepolis lincoln plaza the first week of its release and we had a great time. I liked the editing, especially in the final part of the fight and the moment when Johanna's character says "justice", I felt adrenaline, as if I were not watching a national movie. The sound is definitely the best of the movie, it is not common to see a Costa Rican movie with this kind of powerful sound. I'll watch it if it comes out on streaming. I feel that the only thing they could improve was to make it more of a Costa Rican accent, but other than that, everything was fine.

Untalented crew, lack of originality, cliché.

Warning: Spoilers
Cliché is a movie with an unskilled crew; the main characters are two Instagram influencers. Voices are pitchy. You are watching an attempt at a copycat of a Marvel movie. I would not recommend it; there is a lack of originality. It perpetuates stereotypes of women. No substance. Just refill material to kill time. Costa Rica has a lot of real actors coming from college that are pretty talented but not considered. I do not recommend it. I think there are better documentaries or Quality movies to watch. I am not talking about the budget, but the lack of originality and the lack of talent itself.

Hermosa Justicia - A Disastrous Attempt at Revenge
rogeracuna-1524815 May 2023
"Hermosa Justicia", a film set in the vibrant landscapes of Costa Rica, is an unfortunate dive into a shallow narrative featuring two trophy wives seeking vengeance on a surgeon for unsatisfactory cosmetic surgery results. While the plotline offers a ripe canvas for a thrilling revenge drama or a dark comedy, it disappointingly reduces itself to mere vanity-fueled shenanigans.

The film's central figures, played by local "models", embody the trophy wives. Their performances, however, are woefully inadequate, displaying an alarming lack of depth and complexity. What could have been a chance to explore the psychological turmoil and growth of these characters is wasted on a vapid portrayal of their extravagant lives.

The casting choice of Choché Romano, notorious for his questionable reputation, as the hacker responsible for tracking the surgeon's GPS does little to salvage the film. Romano's performance, much like the film itself, is insubstantial and fails to contribute any tangible suspense or intrigue to the narrative.

Furthermore, the movie doesn't utilize its setting. Costa Rica, a country brimming with natural beauty and rich culture, merely serves as a backdrop for the characters' trivial pursuits instead of being integrated into the narrative.

What we are left with is a disjointed, unfulfilling spectacle that doesn't deliver on its premise. Hermosa Justicia is a missed opportunity, a film that could have used its unique setup to provide a gripping, heartfelt narrative but chose to center on superficial exploits instead.

In conclusion, if you're looking for a film that delves into the human psyche, explores rich characters, or even just provides some mindless entertainment, Hermosa Justicia fails to tick any of these boxes. Save your time, and steer clear of this cinematic misadventure.
