Jennifer Lopez has been on a huge marriage kick lately. This past year saw the release of Marry Me, a romantic comedy where she plays a pop star who marries a regular joe, played by Owen Wilson. Her real life this year also saw her marry her longtime on-again, off-again boyfriend, Ben Affleck. And now, Amazon Prime Video reveals the new trailer for Lopez’s next film, the action-romantic-comedy Shotgun Wedding. The film also stars Josh Duhamel, Jennifer Coolidge, Sônia Braga, Cheech Marin, Selena Tan, D’Arcy Carden, Callie Hernandez, Desmin Borges, Steve Coulter, Alberto Isaac, and Lenny Kravitz.
“In Shotgun Wedding, Darcy (Jennifer Lopez) and Tom (Josh Duhamel) gather their lovable but very opinionated families for the ultimate destination wedding, just as the couple begin to get cold feet. And if that wasn’t enough of a threat to the celebration, suddenly everyone’s lives are in danger when the entire party is taken hostage.

Jennifer Lopez straddles the action and romantic comedy genres in her next film “Shotgun Wedding,” and the first trailer promises a laugh-filled, high-octane affair. Kind of like “Die Hard” at a wedding.
Lopez and Josh Duhamel star as a couple who gather their family and friends for the ultimate destination wedding, but just as the two start to get cold feet, the wedding is crashed by Lopez’s ex (played by Lenny Kravitz) and the entire wedding party is taken hostage.
If you’ve ever wanted to see Jennifer Coolidge use a machine gun or a wedding dress get turned into a hand-to-hand combat outfit, this is the movie for you.
Armie Hammer was originally set to star before production began, but Duhamel took over the role when troubling Hammer accusations surfaced.
Jason Moore (“Pitch Perfect”) directs “Shotgun Wedding” from a screenplay by Mark Hammer (“Two Night Stand”). Todd Lieberman,...

An avid student of the depiction of youth in movies, I’ve taken to calling the twenties, as we live them nowadays, the benties, after the British word “bent,” for messed up. And, while I realize not everyone will have found this decade of late adolescence / imposed maturity as disconcerting as all that, I know for a fact that most Millennials will be hard-pressed to argue this point. It’s why we’re called the Me-Me-Me Generation after all: for us, the top-down pressure to grow up, move out and settle down rarely takes before the big 3-0 starts looming large. Perhaps, with a little less “luck” on our side, we too might look to the extraordinary lives of, say, Kelly Reichardt’s young female characters, and strive to fight adversity to heroic results. But, for the purposes of this list, we’ll concern ourselves with the simpler, not necessarily brighter,...

Here's some good news. Collider is reporting that The USA Network has given Mr Robot season 2 an extended run. We'll get 12 episodes of Rami Malek wearing a black hoodie this year, rather than the 10 that came with season 1.
Readers in America may also be glad to hear that Mr Robot is getting its own after-show show by the name of Hacking Robot, which will air on The USA Network after each episode and unpack the biggest moments.
That's all the new news we have for now, so here's a teaser from last month...

It's one thing to be a part of a huge franchise, spanning several films and carrying the weight of untold box office expectations, but it's an entirely separate thing to be involved in two huge franchises. Miles Teller has already appeared in two different films released into UK cinemas this year. Two Night Stand didn't make much of a splash, yet the wonderful Whiplash very much did. Furthermore, he also appears in Insurgent, the new Divergent movie, which arrives at the end of the week.
Whilst on promotional duties for Insurgent though, he's been quizzed about the highest profile of his 2015 releases, the reboot of the Fantastic Four. In the movie, he plays Mr Fantastic/Reed Richards, and chatting to MTV he said that "we were looking to kind of put our stamp on it. We were looking to pay respect to the history of the characters but to bring them up to date".
He added that he was keen for the film's humour to make the final cut.

Our latest letters round up! Swearing at Den Of Geek, and why on earth do we talk about 50 Shades Of Grey?
Right then! A few weeks have passed, so it must be time for another Den Of Geek Letters Page (Tm). (Actually, we've not trademarked that). We're back to normal here, so we're unlikely to be found in the comments. That said, if you want to write in - the details are at the bottom of the post - then we'll try and get your missive into our next letters round up.
But enough waffle from us! On with the latest batch of correspondence...

Shit, prick, asshole, fuck, arsehole, bastardised, shit.
Jarring isn't it. Why are DoG articles now seemingly using words such as these?
I appreciate the last 'shit' instance along with the 'fuck' are references to well-known lines in the movie but is this...

Miles Teller isn’t quite Chris Pratt yet, but with a fiery performance in the Oscar nominated Whiplash behind him and several blockbusters upcoming in the form of Insurgent and Fantastic Four, Teller is a bona-fide star.
His latest project re-pairs him with his producer on Two Night Stand, Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland). The pair will be working to adapt an article recently published in the online magazine The Atavist called “The Life and Times of the Stopwatch Gang” (the article is available for purchase here).
Written by Josh Dean, the article profiles the members of the Stopwatch Gang, feared 1980s bank robbers who never fired a gunshot but made speedy, timed heists under two minutes that eventually netted them millions of dollars. Here’s the synopsis of the article that’s serving as inspiration for the film under Universal:
They were in and out in less than two minutes—that...

Last year was a good one for Miles Teller. His indie Whiplash was a huge Oscar contender (even though his performance wasn't), and he also had three other films released in 2014 (Divergent, That Awkward Moment and Two Night Stand). This year he's almost as busy with The Divergent Series: Insurgent coming next week, the boxing drama Bleed for This arriving sometime this year, and the comic book reboot Fantastic Four looking promising (watch the trailer). Now he has another project for his future slate as The Wrap reports he will lead The Life and Times of the Stopwatch Gang, based on The Atavist article. Josh Dean wrote the article about a group of Canadian criminals who robbed North American banks in the 1980s without ever having to fire their guns. The gang of thieves robbed around 100 banks, stealing about $10 million throughout their run. The article chronicles the glory days of...

Miles Teller (from Whiplash) and Analeigh Tipton hate each other, get stuck in a snowstorm and then don’t. Hate each other that is. But I do. Hate it that is
This is a medium-concept romcom, rush-released to capitalise on Miles Teller’s post-Whiplash visibility. Teller and Analeigh Tipton (from Damsels in Distress) at least bring mild freshness to this tale of a mismatched online hookup that is extended by freak snowstorms; in some infernal variation, we’d be trapped overnight with Gerard Butler and Kate Hudson. Until the overcompensating finale, however, there’s scant internal tension – one minute they loathe one another, the next it’s all ping-pong and fairylights – and the pseudo-frank sex talk repeatedly hits the same one note. Two Night Stand is a notch below popping to Nando’s on the list of things to do with a significant other this Valentine’s.

Despite its muted release in the Us, Two Night Stand - starring Miles Teller and Analeigh Tipton - is pretty decent.
Well, I wasn't expecting much from this. Arriving in the UK on the back of precious little fanfare, Two Night Stand is a sort of romantic comedy with a simple premise: what happens the day after the one night stand? Specifically, when you've had a one night stand with someone, and then find yourself unable to leave their apartment the following day, thanks to some cheap-looking CG snow on the outside?
It's the conundrum facing Megan (Analeigh Tipton) and Alec (Miles Teller), who discover they don't particularly like each other, once they've rumped, pumped and trumped. It's Megan who's the catalyst for the film's narrative, as it's she we see setting up the quickie online following the ending of her relationship with her fiancee. She merrily trots over to Alec's place,...

★★☆☆☆ Romantic comedy convention is condensed into forty-eight hours and a single apartment in Max Nichol's debut, Two Night Stand (2014). Analeigh Tipton and Whiplash (2014) star Miles Teller play the twenty-something couple whose online hook-up is unexpectedly extended by a monumental snowstorm. New York in buried and the two must face last night's indiscretions and re-introduce themselves. Where the post-coital premise and proceeding hijinks are no doubt intended to feel fresh and edgy, the punchlines are mostly obvious and the acerbic sparring, such a delight in the genre's better entries, leaves you cold. There are a couple of late scenes that hint at a thaw, but the frost remains palpable even then.

I’m not going to tell you anything you haven’t already heard; Whiplash is great, even (perhaps especially) if you’re not particularly into jazz drumming. J.K. Simmons ought to win all the awards for his portrayal of the most magnetically monstrous educator in cinema, Miles Teller finally begins coming through on his ‘next big thing’ status (though Two Night Stand may well reset that bar) and writer-director Damian Chazelle gives us a heart-pumping, electrifyingly edited action movie about artistic perfection, singular misery and the ambition that drives many to both.

During The Theory of Everything, I could have sworn I saw the plot of Two Night Stand chalked up on one of Eddie Redmayne’s blackboards. Then I squinted and laughed at my own stupidity; Professor Stephen Hawking may have worked with formulas, but he would have never come up with one so predictable and wholly unoriginal.
This may come as a surprise to you (prepare your gasps), but there aren’t a whole lot of romantic comedies that try breaking the mould when it comes to story, characters and (especially) heartfelt speeches.
And so it goes with Two Night Stand, a harmless enough story about a pair of strangers (Analeigh Tipton and Miles Teller on agreeable if fairly bland form) who...

Because the Casting Society of America shifted the date of its Artios Awards, this year’s nominees include films released theatrically from July 1, 2013 to Dec. 31, 2014, paving the way for last year’s Best Picture winner to nuzzle its way into contention along with 2014 hopefuls like "Birdman," "Boyhood," and "Selma." With categories ranging from Big Budget Drama to Low Budget Comedy, nearly every film that one expects to make the cut made the cut. And then some. The Csa’s nominees put "Guardians of the Galaxy" side by side with "Wolf of Wall Street," "Whiplash" with "Inside Llewyn Davis," and Disney’s "Planes" with "Frozen." If you were dreaming of a re-evaluation of "We’re the Millers," your time is now. 2015’s bicoastal Artios Awards will be hosted by Patton Oswalt (Los Angeles) and Michael Urie (New York City). The evening will also honor two-time Academy Award®-nominee Richard Linklater ("Boyhood...

The Casting Society of America has super-sized its Artios Awards feature film nominations this year, honoring 42 different films and putting some of 2014’s top contenders in categories where they’ll compete against 2013’s awards movies.
For its 30th annual ceremony, the awards for casting directors have moved from their usual fall slot to a late-January date that placed them in the middle of awards season. To accommodate the new date, this year’s eligibility period spanned 18 months instead of a single year, encompassing films released in the second half of 2013 and all of 2014.

Boyhood Well, this may be your chance to get this year's Best Picture winner on your Blu-ray shelf before it's even nominated. Lord knows it's the critical favorite, just have a look at the points Boyhood has wracked up on MetaCritic's critic top ten tracker. 307 with The Grand Budapest Hotel in a distant second with 149. Of course, this is pretty much a barebones release and we all expect a Criterion release in the future. So it's up to you, do you want your Boyhood now or can you wait a whilec Because it might be a long while.
The Guest I mistakenly thought this came out a couple weeks ago. It didn't. But hey, now when I write about it I can say it was one of my top ten movies of 2014. I really do love this movie and think you will too. For more, here's my theatrical review.

E.L. Katz showed how much pain people were willing to endure to bring home a big paycheck in Cheap Thrills and also helmed the segment “A is for Amateur” in ABCs of Death 2. Horror hounds now have a new E.L. Katz-helmed project to look forward to, as it’s been revealed that he is set to direct the comedy-thriller, You’ll Be the Death of Me.
Variety reports that E.L. Katz is set to helm You’ll Be the Death of Me, a Mandeville Pictures movie that will be distributed by Lionsgate. Katz will direct off a script by Mark Hammer (Two Night Stand). The film will be produced by Todd Lieberman. Cable channel HBO has had a history of critically and commercially acclaimed shows, from The Sopranos to Game of Thrones. Adding to their ranks this past television season was the channel’s newest offering, True Detective. With Cary Fukunaga and Nic Pizzolatto respectively directing and writing each episode, fans of the show were intrigued to see what shape the show would take in season two, with leads Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, as well as Fukunaga, following through on their promise to exit the show after its first season. With Justin Lin stepping into the director’s chair for the first two episodes of the new season, the show’s casting began to take shape a while ago, with Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and the recently confirmed Taylor Kitsch all set to play key roles. Now the show has added a number of other performers to its roster.
Headlining the new additions is Rachel McAdams.

Kelly Reilly ("Flight"), Michael Irby ("Almost Human"), Abigail Spencer ("Mad Men") and Leven Rambin ("Two Night Stand") have all scored supporting roles in the upcoming second season of HBO's "True Detective".
The quartet have either signed, or are in the final stages of discussions, to join the new season which revolves around three cops and a criminal who team to unravel a conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder.
Reilly will play a series regular named Morgan and described only as 'self-obsessed', Spencer will play a sexual assault survivor, Irby will play the partner of the female cop, and Rambin will play a pretty girl and former addict.
The first table read for the season takes place tomorrow. Reilly and Spencer were both on the short list to play the female lead, a role that is tipped to be going to Rachel McAdams.

We All Float Down Here: Shelton’s Latest Winning Slice of Arrested Development
Remarkable in the sense that this is her third consecutive film to premiere at Sundance, director Lynn Shelton is one of the few female directors bucking the general trend of having laborious stretches of times between features. Her latest, Laggies, is her first directorial outing where Shelton has not also written the screenplay (Andrea Siegel gets her first credit instead), which divorces the film from a body of work largely improvised and often careening off the cuff to mostly enjoyable effect. While this makes her latest film feel a bit more mainstream, featuring an array of well-known names, it’s also a nicely polished example of familiarity, genuine with its intentions and generally pleasing even as it neglects to say anything we haven’t seen repeatedly from both a male and female perspective.

The onscreen and public personas of actor Miles Teller appear closely related at first glance: there’s the natural charisma (see: the smooth operators of “Two Night Stand” and “That Awkward Moment”) alongside the leading-man confidence that helped land him the part of Reed Richards in Josh Trank’s upcoming “Fantastic Four” reboot. Yet in each film there is at least one moment, if not several, that cements why he’s one of the most sought-after actors working today, such as the quiet apology for an accident in “Rabbit Hole," or the stubborn confrontation in “The Spectacular Now” with his character’s deadbeat dad. Go ahead and add to that list a ten-minute drum solo and all of the psychological and physical trauma required to perfect it. Damien Chazelle’s second feature “Whiplash” (read our review) sees Teller playing a devoted, talented, and sometimes unlikeable jazz drummer eager to please...

For this week’s spotlight piece, I wanted to take a look at an up and comer who’s just joining the A-list, but one who does so with the potential to go to some extraordinary places. I’m talking of course about Miles Teller, someone who really could turn out to be the best actor of his generation. A mix of John Cusack and Vince Vaughn (plus his own unique flavor), Teller is going places, plain and simple. He’s only got about 20 credits to his name, but in his short time on the big screen he’s already established himself as someone worthy of the A-list. Teller got his start pretty quickly when, after only a few appearances in shorts and a guest spot on the TV show The Unusuals, he was cast in a main supporting part opposite Nicole Kidman in Rabbit Hole. An Oscar player all season long,...

The hashtag in #Stuck is misleading: Holly (Madeline Zima) and Guy (Joel David Moore) are not social-media-savvy millennials who hook up online (as in Two Night Stand). Their morning-after is the old-fashioned result of too much drinking and flirting at a Los Angeles bar. It might have been just another forgettable encounter if Guy hadn't offered to drive Holly back to her car, and they hadn't gotten trapped in a massive traffic jam. It's here that first-time writer-director Stuart Acher begins playing with the narrative structure. Holly and Guy face off within the confines of his Honda Element, their hesitant conversation punctuated by backwards flashbacks of their intoxicating evening. Acher starts with their clumsy sexual encounter, made all the more a...

One of the buzziest films of the year is Whiplash, starring Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons, who go head-to-head in a story about a young jazz drummer and his ruthless instructor. Even with another flood of specialty film debuts, The Skeleton Twins, the dramedy starring Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader, had another impressive box office showing in its third weekend. Meanwhile, another dozen films tried to elbow past last week’s 14 newcomers and numerous others already in the market, to middling success among those reporting.
Other than Twins, the holdovers that look like they’re gaining some autumnal momentum include IFC Films‘ The Trip To Italy with Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon, and more niche-oriented films such as American Experience/PBS Films’ doc Last Days In Vietnam and Oscilloscope’s Art And Craft. Starz Media also scored a robust gross for the second week of Not Cool, featuring YouTube star Shane Dawson, as it migrated east to New York and was also profiled on a Starz channel doc series.
CBS Films’ Pride can be proud of scoring the weekend’s highest average among new titles.
