Oscar winner Geena Davis has been tapped as the co-lead for a CBS’ untitled mother-son legal drama pilot from Scott Prendergast, who wrote the script and executive produces, Deadline has confirmed.
In the drama, despite their opposing personalities, a talented but directionless P.I. who is the black sheep of his family begrudgingly agrees to work as the in-house investigator for his overbearing mother (Davis), a successful attorney reeling from the recent dissolution of her marriage.”
Davis will star as Joan. She is a razor-sharp attorney and a self-made success who put herself through law school to support her three kids when her first husband died. Very controlling and always aware of appearances, Joan must rely on Todd, her least reliable child, when her 2nd marriage mysteriously unravels. And while she can’t condone Todd’s less than legal tactics, she’s impressed by his ability to sleuth out information.

Richard Dreyfuss doesn't need to play any reindeer games. An Oscar winner and one of the world's biggest movie stars for two decades, Dreyfuss has only periodically popped up on the big or small screens in recent years because he's been concentrating his efforts on overhauling the way American children are taught civics and serving as Senior Associate Member of St. Anthony's College in Oxford. While his recent credits have been sparse, I've talked to Dreyfuss several times in the past few years and the key is always to find what he wants to discuss, even if it isn't necessarily the project he's promoting. So with the 2012 A&E adaptation of "Coma," it certainly wasn't "Coma," but it could have been the shift in interactions between actors and directors over the years and whether or not TV is more actor-friendly. With this winter's Sundance debut of "Zipper," it was the political backdrop to the thriller.

Geena Davis is going to be scrubbing in at Grey-Sloan Memorial! The Oscar winner has booked a major guest arc on the upcoming 11th season of Grey's Anatomy, the actress' rep and ABC confirmed Friday to E! News. While she starred in the 2012 A&E miniseries Coma, a remake of the chilling 1978 movie of the same name, this marks Davis' return to a network series since she starred on the well-received yet short-lived Commander in Chief. We knew that Shonda Rhimes would know how to shake things up now that Sandra Oh has left the building! Davis will play—surprise, surprise—a surgeon on the still-chugging medical drama, but no other details were forthcoming. The...

Add Big Driver, a short story in Stephen King’s 2010 collection Full Dark, No Stars, to the huge list of works by the living literary legend that are in the midst of being adapted to the screen. Lifetime just green-lit a television movie based on the story and has set A History of Violence actress Maria Bello to star.
Big Driver will center on a successful mystery novelist (Bello) who takes an ostensible shortcut on her way home from an engagement at a Chicopee, Massachusetts, library and falls into a trap set by a sinister trucker, who proceeds to brutally rape her and leave her for dead. After recovering from her injuries, the novelist uses the detective skills she picked up from writing mystery novels to track down and take revenge on the trucker and his accomplices.

It doesn't get much more lazy than this. Sure, we've dealt with isolated, small area films like Buried, but this is getting ridiculous. The first trailer for a film called Freezer just debuted starring Derbal McDillet Dylan McDermott. And unless you're in a coma, you probably already guessed that the film is about a guy, who is stuck in a freezer. But this isn't just any freezer. It's a restaurant walk-in freezer. Of course, he has know idea why he's there at first, but then learns some stuff about the Russian mob, and blah, blah, blah. This seems like the perfect time to announce my own new film Desk, which features me stuck at work for eight hours. I'm writing it as we speak. Should be done any day now. Watch the trailer below for a good laugh. Here's the first trailer for Mikael Salomon's Freezer, originally from Yahoo:...

For many actresses, particularly ones over the dismaying low age studios films have as an unofficial cut-off, TV's become the main sanctuary for richer female characters -- which may be why Geena Davis is headed back to TV after a stint as the heroine of ABC's White House drama "Commander in Chief" in 2005-2006. (More recently, she played a role in A&E's miniseries "Coma.") The Oscar-winning Davis will play the lead role in an untitled bounty hunter drama for which TNT just ordered a pilot. She'll play an unconventional bondswoman whose eccentric approach to the job gives her an advantage in a tough business... eh, whatever, the drama's based on the real-life story of San Francisco bailbond agent Mackenzie Green, who was profiled in the New Yorker in 2003. Scott Prendergast ("Kabluey") and Amy Berg wrote the script, while Dean Devlin, whose TNT con artists series "Leverage" was canceled in December,...

The "United States of Tara" actress is exiting Season 2 of the HBO drama before the new season hits the air. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dewitt's exit comes as a result of scheduling conflicts, not creative strife.
"As the production schedule for Season 2 of 'The Newsroom' has shifted, Rosemarie DeWitt has encountered scheduling conflicts and will no longer be able to continue in her role," HBO said in a statement.
Dewitt joined the cast alongside her "Tara" costar Patton Oswalt in November. Dewitt was set to play a recurring role, a litigator who represents Atlantis Cable News in a wrongful termination suit. Her role will be recast and the scenes she already completed will be reshot.

Susan Wheeler nearly joined the comatose "patients" at the Jefferson Institute on the finale of the two-part "Coma" event. She was simply getting too close to uncovering the truth about what went on there, so the (very corrupt) powers that be decided to eliminate her as a threat.
But as she's young and healthy, there's no reason to just kill her. Not when Ellen Burstyn's cold and evil Mrs. Emerson could just make her part of the farm system there at the Institute. Maybe impregnate her for embryonic stem cells, or harvest her body parts for research, or other means.
While Susan proved pretty capable on her own, she would have never escaped had Dr. Bellows not managed to find enough police officers who weren't in on the whole cover-up to storm the Institute. While they took down Susan's professor, Susan took care of Mrs. Emerson herself.
But she'd already been drugged pretty heavily,...

On a chilly Friday night last January, lights are blazing inside Glenridge Hall, a stunning but secluded mansion in the suburbs of Atlanta. The location frequently is in demand for weddings and parties, but tonight it's standing in as the home of Dr. Theodore Stark (James Woods), chief of staff at fictional Peachtree Memorial Hospital, in a TV remake of the 1978 medical thriller "Coma." It's been a while coming, but "Six Feet Under" star Lauren Ambrose seems to be staging a comeback. We're not saying the actress has been resting on her laurels -- she hasn't -- but since Alan Ball's hit HBO funeral show wrapped its last season in 2005, Ambrose hasn't been in the spotlight as much as she is this month. Credit that to her scene-stealing supporting work in Mike Birbiglia's hit adaptation of his one-man show "Sleepwalk With Me" (it scored one of the best limited debuts of the year over the weekend) and her upcoming lead turn on A&E's TV mini-series "Coma" (in which she stars opposite Ellen Burstyn, Geena Davis and Richard Dreyfuss). Grief-stricken directors and actors express dismay at death of British film-maker who leaped from bridge
A shaken and grief-stricken Hollywood has saluted Tony Scott as a great director as speculation swirls over why he leapt from a bridge to his death in Los Angeles bay.
An autopsy was due to be carried out on Monday afternoon a day after police divers recovered the British film-maker's body from water beneath the Vincent Thomas suspension bridge spanning the harbour. There was no immediate official word about the results of the autopsy.

Tony Scott Suicide Slowly Gains Explanation
The more I thought about Tony Scott's suicide, the less sense it made. Tony and his Brother Ridley have both been influential in the world of Film and Television. Numb3rs, and The Good Wife are just a few of the television series to be shepherded by Tony and Ridley, with the remake of Coma airing soon. Tony's directorial slate includes such iconic flicks as Top Gun, The Fan, Crimson Tide. Aside from his professional success, Scott had a lovely wife and children. Nothing about these variables adds up to suicidal tendencies.
In the hours since Tony Scott jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge the reason's behind his act seem to be becoming heart-breakingly. Several sources close to the Director/Producer have revealed that Scott was being treated for inoperable brain cancer. An autopsy being performed today will reveal how advanced the cancer was,...
