As Always impressive so far w/one exception Mark
lostrubberduck18 July 2023
I'll be honest I haven't finished the entire season but I we seen every episode on all the other Alone series and I appreciate this show because even when it's not that great it's impressive in many ways. There is one exception and that's Mark who left after 5 days I only wish he would have left sooner. A philosopher he is not though he clearly believes he is, what he is however is a cry baby who whined at length about not wanting to be there and his son which normally is sweet however Mark managed to just wish he'd get eaten by a polar bear while simultaneously feeling sorry for his son who probably approached his dad being gone. Harsh maybe but the thing is everyone that did the show left someone behind Mark failed to understand the world doesn't revolve around him, I can't help but think he took the spot someone else could've filled only to spend only 5 days while filling 5 days with the most annoying video ever, Mark you may have missed 5days with your son but I'll never get back the time I wasted watching your portion, nor will I ever get the calmness or peace you shattered with your constant sniveling and whining sucks to suck bro.

Good but...
ulverr-2046113 January 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The concept of giving a second chance is great, but after watching whole season 1, it's clear that these people have PTSD from previous experience.

The original Alone is such hard experience that it leaves deep mark in the psyche. Mark and Greg push the button so early, I mean man WTF, these people are advertised in the intro as the strongest. If the series continues, which I hope it will, future contestants should be picked much better, maybe a good psychological test for PTSD level.

In the season 1, all three women did a great job and it was nice to watch how they manage in such extream weather.

Callie has a great positive attitude always smiles and camera loves her:) It was interesting to watch how Michelle and Woniya aproached the smoky eyes problem differently. Michelle choose safty first, Woniya choose never give up.

Honestly I hoped that both will cross the finish line. I think Michelle could dig a little bit deeper, to deal with eyes problem, Woniya showed a very good spirit and mental clarity how to cope with a potencial unsafe for the eyes situation, strong personality and psyche, great survivalist.

Trained survivalist?
ginger-2192226 August 2022
Warning: Spoilers
These people are suppose to be the strongest and best TRAINED survivalist? After the first day they are already complaining and whinning. And after 6 days, they are leaving.?And Greg...why did he even show up for the show? All he did was whine. If you are a trained survivalist, buck up and do what you need to do. The women seem to be stronger than the men. Next show, find someone who can survive and last to the end.

Great series, like this spinoff format
biz-6260423 September 2022
Enjoyed spinoff Alone Frozen much better than the original series. Alone Frozen Contestants had half the # of weeks to prepare before winter started than in the original series. Liked to see the adaptations and skills of the later contestants, did not care much for the early departures.

I think most contestants on this type of series can do well with summer conditions. The blizzards and procurement of food/game in harsh winter conditions showcased the survivalist skills and mental toughness of remaining contestants.

As always, the reflections and trials faced remind me of the many things we take for granted. Hope there are many more seasons with this format.

I'm addicted to Alone, so...

Not a bad review, but I have to point out something. I notice that Greg Ovens' fingers are clubbed at the tips. This is a sign of some serious diseases, such as lung cancer, heart disease or cirrhosis. I hope he gets physical checkups. He looks and sounds like a heavy drinker and smoker, too. Have never seen any of the contestants smoke, though. Overall, I guess I just enjoy seeing people improvise during harsh conditions while sitting in my comfy house. I wonder if anyone watching it has ever used any of their techniques to get by themselves. Why do you have to write such long reviews? I don't have anything else to say. Bye.

Just solve the problem!
andahl-8619512 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
This show presents problems and challenges that have to be addressed and dealt with. That's all they got to do. Encounter a problem, and build a solution. Amos can't get his lures into deep water? Build a pier or a raft and get yourself to deep water. Michelle can't deal with smoke in her hut? Get some stones and clay and build a chimney and fireplace around her fire pit. Traps are coming up empty? Go hunting or fishing. No game to hunt and no fish present. Back to mussels and clams. It's terribly embarrassing to see the entire Male portion of the participants gone by the 4th week. Where did they think they were going? Cancun. Jeez! Nut up boys.

Not the best
stephan-3332120 August 2022
All the losers from previous seasons takes part. Suppose to be the ultimate challenge and not really creating that feeling. Expected a lot more and better contestants in this one.

The woke pandemic keeps on infecting
sonofwoody24 September 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This show disappointed. I watch Alone mostly for the great scenery and to see survivalists display their building and crafting prowess. There was less of the scenery in this series, whether due to what the contestants actually filmed or to its editing. And after the first half, the crafting aspect focused on killing. This series had more talk--including lots and lots of talk about "representing." And along with representing comes the woke mantra of "the bad men wouldn't let me" (as if we're to believe that no male ever taught these women anything). Also this series had a lot more Gaia worship, with multiple speeches about the sanctity of animal life and how mankind abuses the planet, all while the speechifiers went about slaughtering every animal they could find. But worst of all is that the deck seemed gender stacked with men who looked suspiciously weak (suddenly quitting) and/or unskilled (Amós's terrible shelter). NBC owns USA, where Alone runs, so Intersectionality, anyone?

The invasive species.
wdawson-926059 June 2023
So there are a few issues with this show. Not calling it a reality show because it isn't. These people aren't expected to survive naked and unresourced with no opt-out device - that would be pretty real.

Sick of the heartfelt thanking directed to a dead animal, the life of which was sacrificed in the pursuit of financial gain. None of these people HAVE to be there, so don't dress up killing native animals (and starving their offspring) as an honourable, life sustaining act. Go home and eat a hamburger.

Over the proselytizing, personal justifications, getting in touch with one's roots (seriously?), the living in harmony with the land, the slow and inevitable mental and physical deterioration and unending efforts to cope with this self-imposed and totally needless challenge, driven by the desire for lots of money and to prove some personal ability, ably assisted by survival accoutrements and the ever-ready rescue teams. Seriously?
