For some reality shows, fans wait for the first woman to win, and for the first show contestant to have a baby. For Alone, both those milestones were achieved by one person: Alone Season 6 runner-up Woniya Thibeault. Tapping after 73 starvation-filled days on Season 6, Woniya came back to win the spinoff Alone: Frozen. A big believer in natural miracles, Woniya experienced the miracle of pregnancy at the age of 47. Woniya is outspoken and is even willing to call out the show for not having a gender-balanced cast. This and her general badassery puts her in the top

Woniya Thibeault made TV history when she became the first woman to win an Alone challenge. The 45-year-old ancestral skills teacher from Grass Valley, California, spent 50 days on her own on the frigid Atlantic coast of Labrador, Canada, in the 2022 Alone spinoff Alone: Frozen. She outlasted five other seasoned Alone vets and walked away with the show’s $500,000 grand prize.
Woniya Thibeault came in second in ‘Alone’ Season 6
Thibeault’s Alone: Frozen victory came after her memorable appearance on Alone Season 6, which took place in Canada’s Northwest Territories on the shores of Great Slave Lake. She survived 73 days in the Arctic in that season, which aired on History Channel in 2019. Thibeault came close to winning it all, but she ultimately decided to tap out due to starvation.
“I’ve loved being here with every fiber of my being and I don’t really want to leave. But my body’s done,...

The season one finale of The History Channel’s Alone spinoff, Alone: Frozen, kicks off with just two survivalists remaining in the Labrador wilderness. Woniya and Michelle have made it through 33 days in the freezing cold as the episode begins, outlasting their four fellow survivalists and standing to earn 250,000 if they can make it to Day 50.
(No spoilers here but there are plenty in the following episode recap, including the name of Alone: Frozen’s season one winner.)
Woniya and Michelle have battled the wind, the snow, and a dwindling food supply to make it this far. But, unfortunately, only one of the two incredible female participants lasts all the way to the end and makes Alone franchise history by doing so.

Alone: Frozen contestant Woniya Thibeault has just made history. No woman in the history of the competitive reality adventure series Alone has ever won before — until the latest season finale on Thursday, September 22. Alone: Frozen, the spinoff of the original History Channel series, saw some fan favorites from past seasons of the show coming back for another round of wilderness survival, this time on frozen Canadian soil — dropped off on the North Atlantic Coast of Labrador, Canada just as winter arrived. In Thursday’s final episode, “The Bitter End,” just two remained — Michelle Finn from Season 8 and Thibeault from Season 7. When Finn dropped out after 38 days, Thibeault officially made reality TV history, leaving her as the last contestant standing. So long as she survived the full 50 days, she would receive the entire 500,000 cash prize. Brendan George Ko and The History Channel Other returning contestants this season included Greg Ovens (Season...

Survive 50 days and win a share of 500,000. That’s the setup for History’s Alone: Frozen. And by the end of season one episode seven, just two survivalists will split the pot if they can stick it out until the bitter, freezing end.
Episode six ended with Callie making a deal with herself, and episode seven opens with Callie learning her fate. “The Last Hope” takes us from 24 days left in the 50-day competition down to 18.
If no one makes it to Day 50, then the prize will go unclaimed.
Callie Russell, Age 34, Montana – Season 7, Survived 89 Days
24 Days Left: Callie made a deal with herself that if she doesn’t find any food in her snares, she’ll tap out. She gets up after spending the night outside her shelter under the stars, aware that she might be...

The History Channel’s Alone: Frozen season one episode six moves the countdown clock forward to 24 days left, meaning the three remaining survivalists have made it past the halfway point. Season one began with six Alone veterans and three – all female – remain in the running for a share of the 500,000 prize.
Episode six, “On Thin Ice,” finds the three survivalists dealing with fresh snow, freezing temperatures, and a shortage of food.
Callie Russell, Age 34, Montana – Season 7, Survived 89 Days
30 Days Left: When we last saw Callie, she was incredibly sick but she’s sticking it out. She’s dehydrated from vomiting and plans on taking time for some self-care. The History Channel’s Alone: Frozen season one episode five begins with four survivalists and ends with three. That means the payout will be 166,666 if the three remaining contestants survive for the full 50 days.
It seemed like not much went on in this episode until the last 15 or so minutes when the field was suddenly reduced to three, and one survivalist was left barely hanging on due to stomach issues. Amos left the adventure with 31 days remaining, meaning all three remaining survivalists are women. And, yes, I’m really excited the top three spots will be filled by fierce females!
Woniya Thibeault, Age 45, California – Season 6, Survived 73 Days

The History Channel’s Alone: Frozen season one episode four finds the remaining four survivalists doing a pretty decent job of hunting. It’s incredibly challenging and the temperature’s dipping, but all four contestants are still alone in the Labrador wilderness by the end of the episode.
“Bone Cold” begins with 39 days remaining in the season and takes the countdown down to 36 days left for a share of the 500,000 prize.
Callie Russell, Age 34, Montana – Season 7, Survived 89 Days
39 Days Left: It’s 35 degrees and raining when we catch up with Callie. She’s a bit nauseous from starting her period and didn’t eat yesterday. Today, she’s thirsty and hungry but is having a tough time getting out of bed because she’s tired.

Greg in season 1 of The History Channel’s ‘Alone: Frozen’
The History Channel’s first season of the Alone spinoff, Alone: Frozen, continues with episode three – “The Edge.” Airing August 25, 2022, episode three begins with five former Alone contestants remaining in the quest for the 500,000 prize. Anyone who makes it to Day 50 will take home a share of the pot.
Episode three takes the action in the frigid Labrador wilderness from six days into the competition through the 10th. At the start of the episode, it appeared that many of the remaining survivalists were so cold, hungry, and miserable that they were ready to tap out. But by the time the episode wrapped up, four continued in the challenge.
Greg Ovens, Age 58, British Columbia – Season 3, Survived 51 Days
44 Days Left: Greg has decided to tap out. He’s feeling a lot of anxiety and Labrador is bringing up too many memories of Patagonia.
