The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast: Evil Knievel (1975)
This episode in the often hilarious Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts isn't the best but it's certainly far from the worst. There are several funny roasts throughout the fifty minute running time and as you'd expect the typical comedies rank among the highlights of the show. You've got Milton Burle who has to be one of the greatest comedians to ever live simply because he could make just about any joke work. Ruth Buzzi has always been very underrated and her skit here once again adds some great laughs. Then you've got Don Rickles who gets the most screen time and pretty much blasts everyone on the panel in hilarious fashion.
Some of the acts aren't that funny and this includes Joyce Brothers, Jackie Cooper and Glen Campbell who gets the shortest amount of time that I've seen from any roast. Ernest Borgnine is also on hand but his material wasn't all that great. For the most part this is a very uneven episode but there are enough great laughs to make it worth watching.
