I know what you did three years ago...

The first scene promised interesting things:a couple, whose attempts at getting a baby failed are given a free experimental new treatment. The gynecologist has encouraging words and we are expecting more .

Sadly, the rest is the umpteenth serial killer story in which the assassin is not the one you expect(if you are still expecting something halfway through):it's so implausible (and laughable) your disbelief needs to be suspended .

A scene between the gynecologist and an (occasional and disappointed ) lover verges on vulgarity.Besides the syringe trick is hackneyed, and the killer must not be very smart ,mistaking a man for his (female) victim in the bathroom.

Is it possible one can still find dough to produce such absolute drivel?

Promising first 15 minutes and then...

This movie started out quiteto be entertaining and interesting. And then the plot unfolded with holes big enough to drive a truck through. No character could possibly be as stupid as the person in this movie who was supposed to be a medical doctor.

Entertaining Thriller
valesmarcela27 November 2019
No, it is not the best thriller I have seen. It is not a Hitchcock film or one of Scorsese's or De Palma's thrillers from back in the 80's. But it's not a terrible movie either. I felt the need to review this title because it is unfair that this film has such low rating; and mainly because of someone who clearly did not comprehend the movie. The killer did not mistakenly kill one of his/her victims. He/she did it for a reason which is very clear if you have a brain. I will not say more cause I do not want to spoil it for anyone (which is also why I am not being specific about gender). So if you are bored and have nothing better to do, I'd say go ahead and watch this movie (especially if you enjoy whodunits). The acting is decent and so are the technical aspects of the movie. Again, it's not a work of art by any means, but it will entertain you, which is all I was expecting, so no complains here!

Doctors Without Borders

Warning: Spoilers
Dr. Joanne Conners and Dr. Gabriel Haynes are gynecologists and obstetricians with kind hearts. In Washington, D.C. they opened The Real Hope Fertility Clinic in order to assist older women in having children.

Unfortunately, their boundaries were not the best in they way they dealt with their first client, Sheila Norman, who died along with with her baby in the delivery room. While Sheila died of an aneurysm in her leg and not through malpractice, the doctors nonetheless manipulated some eggs in order to achieve the pregnancy. Due to the concatenation of circumstances, the doctors are now under siege from someone seeking total vengeance.

The screenplay offered a very limited number of suspects involved in the murder of Dr. Haynes. Following his death, Dr. Joanne Conners appears to be his next victim. A well-developed character, Dr. Conners is a decent and caring medical practitioner who is totally confused about her desperate situation. Detective Denise Landers is the cynical, yet sympathetic cop who relentlessly seeks the killer. An intriguing relationship is that of Det. Landers with her assistant, John Bishop, as she constantly reminds him of being a rube. There are essential details key to the outcome in the relationship of the two cops.

My favorite character was Dr. Michael Kirby, who meets Dr. Conners in the best scene in the film that occurs in the Fulbrook Hotel. It is casino night at the Fulbrook for a charity cause. It is there that Dr. Conners meets the smooth-talking Dr. Kirby in the bar and invites him to her room. A loose end in the script was when poor Dr. Kirby is killed by the assassin who was seeking Dr. Conners. But, because the killer knew his victim, it made no sense to make collateral damage out of Dr. Kirby.

A macguffin in the film is apparent in the character of Russell Dillon, who was blackmailing Drs. Haynes and Conners and appears to be the prime suspect. The filmmakers pulled the rug out from the audience in a surprise ending. A central reference point in the film was the killer's calling card of H.O.C., which stood for Hippocrates of Cos. In the final analysis, Dr. Conners had remained true to the Hippocratic oath. Her only misfortune was to encounter the unknown variable of a lost soul who spent years planning a senseless act of violence.

For a Tv thriller this one isn't too bad. Like the cast. Alana de la Garza plays a fertility doctor whose partner was killed. There is a skeleton in their closet. But who is after her now? Sandrine Holt and Dan Jeannotte play the detectives. Doesn't have stupid red herrings.

Torn two ways
rps-23 June 2017
This is a very neat nail-biter, very well done with a dandy surprise ending. Writing, acting, cinematography...all first rate This is a very watchable movie. But it is a Canadian production, shot in and around Montreal and SUBSIDIZED BY THE Canadian AND QUEBEC GOVERNMENTS AND PRODUCED FOR Canadian MOVIE CHANNELS!!! Why then is it set in Washington DC??? This is far better than most of the dross shot under these circumstances. It's a gripping story about blackmail, revenge and murder stemming from the death of a patient at a fertility clinic. But why could it not have been set in Montreal or Toronto or some other Canadian city? But no. It's Washington, even dupliciously inserting some stock footage of the Washington skyline to prop up the counterfeit credentials. While most countries use their film industries to tell their stories, Canada grovels and grinds out pseudo American films, not having the courage to tell Canadian stories set in Canadian places to Canadian viewers. This craven and contemptible practice may create jobs in the US dominated Canadian film industry for the hacks who have not yet fled to Hollywood. But what does it say to Canadians? ...that we are timid butt kissers who believe everything in the United States is far superior to anything in Canada? Fine movie this time instead of the usual pallid products. But it is a fluke, one diamond in a pile of shoddy broken glass.
