Leonard Nimoy is a legendary Hollywood actor who enjoyed a plethora of major roles in the industry during his career. However, not one of them comes close to his iconic rendition of Spock in the Star Trek saga.

A role that he took up for the first time ever during the 1979 motion picture, Nimoy became synonymous with the half-human, half-Vulcan character with pointed years. At the same time, Spock had his fair share of naysayers when he was first sought to be introduced in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
So much so that Nimoy was told by network executives that they would either have to change the appearance of the character, or simply do away with him!

In 2015, Netflix released the indie horror film Circle on its platform, and it instantly became the talk of the town due to its intriguing premise. It centers around a group of 50 strangers who awaken in a dark room to find out that they're being held captive and forced to participate in a deadly game. Faced with their imminent executions, they must choose one person among them to live.
It was written and directed by Aaron Hann and Mario Miscione and was inspired by the 1957 legal drama film 12 Angry Men. Michael Nardelli, Carter Jenkins, Lawrence Kao, Allegra Masters, Julie Benz, and many others starred in the movie.
Now, almost 10 years after its release, the horror flick has been announced to be getting a sequel. It's titled Circles, and two producers from the original film are back to make it. Those two producers are Nardelli, who also starred in Circle as sole survivor Eric,...

Exclusive: Kurt Sutter and Katey Sagal have teamed up for their first podcast, Pie. People. Influences. Experiences. The program will start April 2, available on all podcast players and YouTube.
They describe Pie as an intimate parlor conversation exploring the ingredients that “baked up” each guest. It is a respectful, deep dive into nature and nurture — family, faith, friends, hometowns, schooling, mentors, tormentors, etc. It will be the heart-to-heart chat that gives us some authentic insight into each guest’s personal and professional choices — in the arts, athletics, healthcare, politics, etc.
I can testify that between them, this couple can cover a healthy span of topics. A few years back, I convinced Sutter to co-live blog the Emmys for Deadline. Only when I arrived at their home did I learn that Kurt had been so busy as the writer, director and producer of my fave FX series Sons of Anarchy, that...

Labor Day weekend is not traditionally big box office though people almost always turn out for Denzel Washington and his third Equalizer film did very well given how Labor Day usually goes. Instead people head outdoors historically this weekend, desperate to catch the last rays of summer. Accidentally I was the latter this time even though I am decidedly not a summer person and avoid the sun like a vampire much preferring the dark cold of the movie theater. I was miserable on Monday with the heat but my friends wanted a picnic. So my moviegoing was home-bound. How about you?

Well, here’s a more somber crime thriller to quiet things down in the multiplexes as the Summer movie season of noisy blockbusters wraps up with the Labor Day weekend. Its setting is only a few years back, but most of its themes are fairly timeless as we bear witness to another young person (actually several) from the mean streets of the East Coast who is swallowed up by the drug trade. Oh, but there’s one sole (really aided by a couple more) who won’t allow him to be another statistic, another outline on the filthy sidewalk. Now she’s not your typical crusading heroine, as she’s dealing with her own flaws and weaknesses. Still, this struggling newspaper reporter earns the right to be called The Good Mother.
It opens on the dark early morning streets of Albany, NY in 2016 as a man in his twenties dashes from corner to corner,...

"You followed him? He could've killed you!" Vertical has revealed an official trailer for a dark crime thriller titled The Good Mother, from director Miles Joris-Peyrafitte. Despite the two big names leading this cast, it's doesn't seem to be getting the most hyped up release next month. The film follows a journalist who, after the murder of her estranged son, forms an unlikely alliance with his pregnant girlfriend to track down those responsible for his death. Together, they confront a world of drugs and corruption in the seedy underbelly of a small city in upstate New York. Hilary Swank stars as Marissa, the vengeful journalist, with Olivia Cooke as Paige, plus Dilone, Hopper Penn, Norm Lewis, Karen Aldridge, and Jack Reynor. This reminds me of McDonagh's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, about a mom turning vicious to get revenge on whoever killed her child. Looks extra dark. "Don't I get...

2019’s Murder Mystery was an international romp which saw Jennifer Aniston’s crime novel-obsessed hairdresser and Adam Sandler’s cop take a European trip and get swept up in a whodunit. It was a hit for Netflix becoming one of the streamer’s most watched movies and a sequel was greenlit which is now upon us.

If you're an actor on the Prime Video comic book adaptation "The Boys," it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll eventually find yourself in an undignified position. The satirical series has a no-holds-barred approach to poking fun at superheroes that can sometimes get pretty perverted and gloriously gross, and that means that the actors have to be up for just about anything. Antony Starr has to lean into the whole creepy milk fetish thing that Homelander has going on, for example, and just about everyone gets covered in blood and bits of gore at some point.
For Laz Alonso, who plays Mother's Milk, there's one episode in particular that still haunts him, and he's ready to leave that entire experience behind him.
In the ridiculous "Herogasm" episode of "The Boys"season 3, Mother's Milk (aka M.M.) and the sweet-but-steadfast Starlight (Erin Moriarty) head to Herogasm to try and warn the attendees...

In the third season of "The Boys," Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) takes a turn for the worst. When the series first began, Quaid's character was the stereotypical "nice guy" in a world of chaos, debauchery, and corrupt corporation-created superheroes. Kindhearted and timid, Hughie was an unlikely addition to the Supe-hunting crew led by Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), but he had just as much reason as anyone else to resent the Vought machine: his girlfriend was killed in his arms, and it set him on a path for revenge. But even in the midst of all that anger and grief, even though he got plenty of blood on his hands, Hughie always did his best to steer Butcher back on path as his walking moral compass. Although Mother's Milk (Laz Alonso) and Frenchie (Tomer Capon) certainly try their hand at getting Butcher under control, Hughie has the best track record.

Taylor Kitsch, now starring opposite Chris Pratt in Amazon’s The Terminal List, next toplines a streaming series about the origins of the opioid crisis. While the premise sounds familiar to Hulu’s Emmy-nominated Dopesick, that doesn’t trouble the 41-year-old actor.
“We’re fucking pumped about it and not nervous after Dopesick, not at all,” Kitsch told The Hollywood Reporter at The Terminal List premiere. “We’re a very different show and when you’ve got Pete Berg at the helm, you know we’re not fucking around.”
In the Netflix series, Kitsch reteams with frequent collaborator Berg (with whom he worked on Friday Night Lights, Battleship and Lone Survivor) to play an addict. The series, which does not yet have a release date, is based in part on Patrick Radden Keefe’s New Yorker article titled “The Family That Built an Empire of Pain.” Kitsch stars opposite Uzo Aduba,...
