The NFL team (the Chicago Crows) at the center of the racial discrimination case in this episode is fictional. Though there are several real NFL teams with bird-related names (the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Philadelphia Eagles, Seattle Seahawks, and Baltimore Ravens), the name of this team is instead a reference to Jim Crow laws, the nineteenth and twentieth-century laws that encoded de jure segregation and racial discrimination throughout the south and elsewhere in the United States. Chicago's actual NFL team is the Bears.
Guest stars Mark Feuerstein (portraying Henry Callas) and Ben Shenkman (portraying Ben-Baruch) both starred in Royal Pains (2009).
