- Lucas races to assemble the final pieces of his mystery device, in advance of the 11th Pilgrimage's arrival. Also, Jim and Taylor confront the colony's "Sixer" mole, Skye is reunited with a familiar face and Terra Nova prepares for war.
- Assuming her no serious suspect, Josh promises to cover for Skye during Jim's questioning in the search for the Sixers mole, but seeing father suspects so comes clean. After another near-disaster, Jim makes Taylor consider it looks like she tried to minimize the damage. By the time they arrest her and learn her motive is her sick mother being held medical hostage, Skye has also met Taylor's son Lucas, helped him do supercomputer-calculations and learned about the Sixers' employers somehow sinister plans now two-way communication with the future is possible. - Jim proceeds his investigation and interviews Skye, who tells that was with Josh on the night of the sabotage of the laboratory. Then she asks Josh to lie to her and confirms she was with him. Skye goes to see her mother and Josh asks her to use The Eye to resolve his final calculations; otherwise, he would kill her mother. Meanwhile, the security team finds a breach in the wall and Jim asks to install a hidden security camera. When Jim sees Skye sneaking out Terra Nova, he presses Josh and learns that Skye is the Sixer's mole. - Pterodactyls soar over the jungle. Below, Taylor takes Jim to the metallic gateway through which pilgrimages arrive. Turns out the 11th pilgrimage is due in a matter of days. Taylor urges Jim to identify the Sixer spy before the new settlers arrive. Jim explains that he is whittling down his list of suspected females. Later, Jim interviews Skye -- as a formality in his mind. Where was Skye when the Sixer spy was detected sending a message from Terra Nova? "I was with Josh," she says. "I was trying to teach him how to play Chess." Jim smiles and lets the (still unidentified) Sixer spy go free.
Back home, Maddy fiddles with her futuristic tablet -- and it loses power. Turns out the power core is dead. "Mine blew last week," Josh says. They'll have to wait for the 11th pilgrimage for more cores to arrive as there is a "colony shortage," according to Elisabeth. Josh leaves for work and he is intercepted by Skye. She asks Josh to lie to Jim and say that he was playing Chess with her. Josh agrees, thinking it an inconsequential white lie. Later that night, Skye sneaks out of Terra Nova and arrives at the Sixer camp. She goes to see her mother, who is obviously very sick. Lucas sits nearby in the shadows.
"I want us to be friends," Lucas says when he is alone with Skye. "Your mother has no idea you're a spy, does she?" Skye demands to know what Lucas wants. And Lucas wants Skye to do him a favor: take a microchip containing the final piece of the puzzle to make the time portal "go both ways." Skye will have to take the chip and activate it at The Eye. And if she refuses? Lucas matter-of-factly says that he will kill her mother. The next day, Skye sneaks into The Eye and activates the chip using her futuristic tablet. Some hours after that, she returns to the Sixer camp. Lucas takes the chip back and examines its content via hologram. "It's going to work," he says. "I'm so close." Asks Skye: "And after the portal opens both ways? What then?" Says Lucas: "You'll see."
Back at camp, Washington and Jim watch a video feed that has captured Skye sneaking out of Terra Nova through a brush-covered drainage ditch. Jim immediately heads home to confront Josh, who earlier lied and backed up Skye's Chess story. "You weren't with Skye last Thursday, were you?" Jim asks. Josh confirms as much, claiming that he didn't think it was that big of a deal. "Josh, you're my son and I love you very much, but don't lie to me again," Jim says. "You're grounded." Josh protests -- to no avail. Jim then shares the news with Taylor, who is heartbroken to hear that Skye is the spy. Taylor says that he will confirm with his man in the Sixer camp: banished soldier Kern.
Later, Taylor plays Chess with Taylor, who casually gives an order to Reynolds concerning a convoy. Moments later, Taylor and Jim watch live video of Skye sneaking out of Terra Nova. "She took the bait," Jim says. Barks Taylor: "One way or another, this is going to end." So Taylor leads the phony-but-real convoy through the jungle as Jim watches with binoculars from a nearby ridge with a team of armed soldiers. Soon, the trees begin to shake. Is it the Sixers? Nope. It's a pack of brontosauruses. Why didn't the Sixers attack? "Maybe Skye didn't tell Mira," suggests Jim, noting that the Sixers were never made aware of dozens of convoys as well as the location of weapons caches. Jim then suggests that Skye is a spy only because "they are holding something over on her."
CUT to Sixerville, where Mira confronts Skye. "Your intel has been garbage lately," Mira says. "Do better." And if Skye doesn't? You guessed it: mom dies. Skye then runs into Lucas, who is completely crazed. "Don't go back to Terra Nova," Lucas says. "It's not safe for you there. They're coming." Lucas then explains that his "employers" will soon arrive through the portal thanks to the contents of the microchip. Lucas will finally be able to defeat his father. "And I have you to thank," Lucas coos. Skye is disgusted.
She goes to her mother and, through tears, confesses that she is a spy. "You're not doing this anymore," mom says. "You're going to run back to Terra Nova, you're going to go straight to Taylor and tell them everything you know." But what about mom? She says that she has been sick a very long time and is prepared to die. Skye weeps. Later, Jim and Taylor wait for Skye, who comes running back to Terra Nova. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't lock you away for the rest of your life," growls Taylor. Skye explains that her mother is alive -- and the Sixers have her. "I'm done lying," cries Skye, before explaining that Lucas has completed his calculations and is on the way to the portal now.
CUT to the portal, where Taylor's soldiers wait. Suddenly, the portal ROARS to life. Lucas appears and the portal sends out a BLAST of energy, knocking down -- and knocking out -- the soldiers. Moments later, Taylor and Jim arrive at the portal to find Lucas standing next to it. Lucas begins to taunt his father. "Listen to me, there are good people here -- innocent people," Taylor says. "Think what will happen to them." Lucas isn't listening. "Open your eyes, old man!" Lucas screams. "It's over ... Next time we meet, you'll be on your knees, begging me for mercy. I won't be alone." Lucas then steps through the portal. There is a BLAST of light and then Lucas is gone -- to the future.
Back at Terra Nova, Skye cries as he explains to Josh that his mother will now likely die. She is then called to the infirmary, where her mother awaits. "You have this man to thank," says Jim, introducing a ragged-looking Kern. Taylor sent orders for Kern to retrieve Skye's mother ... but he still hasn't forgiven Skye for spying. Not yet. Later, Taylor tells Jim that Lucas's mother died because Taylor couldn't save her. Lucas has never forgiven his father. But there's no time for regrets now. Lucas will surely bring back a team of deadly soldiers from the future. Terra Nova will have to get ready.
