- As Billy Lamb undergoes his operation Martha reluctantly begins the defence of hectoring,arrogant Jody Farr as a favour to the reptilian Micky Joy. She plans to adopt the line that Farr was framed by the police but is enraged to learn that Joy is using Billy as Farr's alibi. Ultimately she gets Lamb to admit that Joy is bribing him and he admits this in court,exposing Joy as a corrupt informant. He also helps Reader out over trouble he incurred at Brighton with a glib opposing counsel before joining the rest of the chambers to welcome Caroline Warwick.—don @ minifie-1
- Martha takes on the distasteful task of representing Jamie Farr who is charged with importing heroin. She can't stand the man or his solicitor, Micky Joy, and if anything feels intimidated and bullied by the gangster who makes it clear what verdict he expects. Her defense is that Farr is being set up by the police but when she catches Micky paying off her clerk Billy Lamb to get him to provide Farr with an alibi, she realizes there is a different approach she can take. Billy has told no one about his medical condition but tries to make amends in a number of ways.—garykmcd
