The story was drawn out over the time and unrealistic. Stay put or Go out in a war zone, those are often the binary choices of war. There is no fault by the Captain for the soldier's death, they may well have perished by staying put, no one can know for sure. And it was the IED planted by the bad guys; i.e. it was the bad guys who caused his death. The evolution of revealing the truth of what occurred for those soldiers was good and well-played.
