Jennifer Yale (See) is set as co-showrunner for the Untitled James Wan/Simu Liu project at Peacock. The original espionage techno-thriller was one of three Peacock dramas given straight-to-series orders, announced at the recent TCA winter press tour.
Yale wil co-showrun and executive produce with creator/writer/EP Thomas Brandon (Legacies).
The Untitled James Wan/Simu Liu project, which stars Liu, is set five minutes in the future when first-generation American intelligence analyst Alexander Hale (Liu) realizes his brain has been hacked, giving the perpetrators access to everything he sees and hears. Caught between his shadowy agency and the unknown hackers, he must maintain a performance 24/7 to flush out who’s responsible and prove where his allegiance lies.
Liu also executive produces alongside Wan, Michael Clear and Rob Hackett for Atomic Monster. Danielle Bozzone will oversee for Atomic Monster.

How challenging is it in this day and age to stand out in a crowded, chaotic marketplace of content and distraction, and is the worst fate for a series to be met with indifference? Despite all the progress we’ve seen over the years, what more can the industry do for black, indigenous, LGBTQ and other minority communities when it comes to diversity and inclusion on our TV screens? These were some of the topics discussed by five top TV showrunners and directors when they joined Gold Derby’s special “Meet the Experts” Q&a event with 2023 /2024 awards contenders: Nkechi Okoro Carroll (“Found”), Peter Hoar (“The Last of Us”), Mimi Leder (“The Morning Show”), John Hoffman (“Only Murders in the Building”) and Sterlin Harjo (“Reservation Dogs”).

Since appearing in the Starz series "Da Vinci's Demons," British actor Tom Bateman has generated a lot of buzz in the world of film and television. Tom notably shared the screen with Amy Schumer in 2017's "Snatched" and starred alongside Willem Dafoe, Penélope Cruz, and Johnny Depp in Ridley Scott''s "Murder on the Orient Express." Most recently, he can be seen in Peacock's comedy-thriller series "Based on a True Story" with Kaley Cuoco and Chris Messina.

In 1973, the killer of Welsh teenagers Sandra Newton, Pauline Flynn and Gwendoline Hughes was not caught, despite a high-profile and widespread investigation by South Wales Police. The girls’ families spent the next three decades not knowing who was responsible for brutally taking the lives of their loved ones, or whether he still lived alongside them in the local Neath and Port Talbot communities.
In 2002, a development in forensics changed everything. The cold case was reopened with much pared-down resources, and crime scene DNA was successfully used to identify Wales’ first recorded serial killer. Steeltown Murders is the story of the loss, guilt and suspicion that followed the 1970s murders, and of the perseverance of the officers who were eventually able to provide the victims’ families with the answers they’d been denied years before.
Here are the actors making up the cast behind Steeltown Murders‘ dramatisation of real-life figures and events.

Wales has long been regarded as a place of myth and magic – its national emblem is the dragon, after all, and it has strong links with the legend of King Arthur. So, it is fitting that Lucasfilm should have chosen it as the location for the Disney+ fantasy series “Willow.” The production was based at Dragon Studios in Bridgend, South Wales, and filmed at 32 locations across the country.
The Celtic nation has provided the locations for many iconic movie scenes over the decades, including the Bat Cave in “The Dark Knight Rises,” The Slaughtered Lamb pub in “American Werewolf in London,” and the castle in the opening scene of “Monty Python and the Holy Grail.”
Wales also hosted part of the shoot for Ron Howard’s original 1988 “Willow” movie, based on a story by George Lucas, and starring Val Kilmer, Joanne Whalley and Warwick Davis. The latter two actors reprise...

HBO and HBO Max are becoming very unpredictable.
Ever since the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, there have been plenty of controversial decisions from the higher-ups at the company.
If you thought Minx was the only cancellation this week, then we have bad news.
HBO Max has split up with Love Life, canceling the romantic anthology after two seasons.
The writing had been on the wall with the lack of updates following the Season 2 finale back in November 2021.
The first season was headlined by Anna Kendrick, while the second had William Jackson Harper at the forefront.

Owen Hendricks, Noah Centineo’s character in The Recruit, is thrown into the deep end in his first days as a lawyer for the CIA, as a new clip from the action-paced Netflix series reveals. The 40-second clip — which Centineo screened at the Ccxp convention in São Paulo, Brazil on Saturday, December 3 — shows Owen going head to head with a former CIA asset named Max Meladze, played by Laura Haddock (Da Vinci’s Demons). “You know that making threats against the agency is a crime, right?” he says, visiting Max in prison. Jane Tranter’s Bad Wolf has set up its first major drama since joining Sony Pictures Television, Variety can reveal.

Set in the very near future where scientists have discovered a method of matching people with their perfect romantic fit using DNA, eight-part Netflix Original The One is technically a sci-fi drama. Really though, it’s a crime thriller revolving around the murky circumstances in which the cash cow company behind the matching service was created. Written by Misfits and Crazyhead creator Howard Overman, The One is based on the 2017 novel of the same name by John Marrs. It’s a cat-and-mouse game between wealthy, driven CEO Rebecca (Hannah Ware) and police detective Kate (Zoë Tapper).
While you’re solving the show’s mysteries, we’ve taken the liberty of solving that nagging background question of where you might have seen its cast on screen before…

HBO Max has given a series order to “Subject to Change,” a new drama created by J.J. Abrams. Jennifer Yale is set to serve as showrunner on the project from Warner Bros. Television and Abrams’ Bad Robot.
The series follows a desperate college student who signs up for a clinical trial that is the starting point for a reality-bending adventure.
“It’s been incredible fun weaving this rather insane yarn with Jenn, and I am grateful to her and everyone at HBO Max for the opportunity to bring this story to life,” Abrams said.
“Subject to Change” is the second Abrams-created show to land a series order from a WarnerMedia platform since Abrams signed a massive overall deal with the company in 2019. “Demimonde,” another Abrams original, is already in the works at HBO proper.

A “True Blood” reboot is in the early development stages at HBO, Variety has confirmed with sources.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Jami O’Brien are attached to write the script and executive produce, with original series creator and showrunner Alan Ball also attached to executive produce. At this time, none of the show’s original cast is attached to return.
Reps for HBO declined to comment.
The original “True Blood” is based on “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” novel series by Charlaine Harris. It debuted on HBO in 2008 and ran for seven seasons until 2014. Ball was the showrunner on five of the seven seasons. The series took place in a world in which vampires live among humans after the creation of a synthetic blood substitute that allowed vampires to stop hunting humans for food. There were also a myriad of other fantasy creatures in the show, including werewolves and witches.
Anna Paquin starred as telepathic waitress Sookie Stackhouse.

The following contains spoilers for NOS4A2 season 2 episode 7.
Despite having significant experience in the world of television, NOS4A2 showrunner Jami O’Brien, like the rest of us, isn’t quite sure where the industry is going to go. She’s as in the dark as anyone during the time of Covid-19 and a growing rift between online streaming services and traditional cable and broadcast television. However, rather than being intimidated, she’s game for the challenge.

Screenwriter and director David S. Goyer continues to work on high-profile projects to this day, with writing and executive producing credits on two massive upcoming TV series: The Sandman, based on Neil Gaiman’s legendary comic book, and Foundation, adapted from Isaac Asimov’s classic series of science fiction novels.

HBO Max, in partnership with Britain’s Channel 4, has landed exclusive U.S. streaming rights to upcoming period drama Boys (working title). Principal photography on the five-part series began in October and is scheduled to air in the UK in 2020.
The series, which hails from multi-BAFTA-winning writer-producer Russell T. Davies, charts the emotional journey of five friends during the 1980s, a decade in which everything changed, most notably with the rise of AIDS. Olly Alexander, Nathaniel Curtis, Shaun Dooley, Omari Douglas, Stephen Fry, Neil Patrick Harris, Keeley Hawes, Callum Scott Howells, Tracy Ann Oberman, and Lydia West star in the London-set drama.
“It is our delight to be collaborating with the talented Russell T Davies” said Jeniffer Kim, senior vice president of international originals, HBO Max. “He has crafted a beautiful coming of age story, exploring the excitement of new friendships and self-discovery during a period when there were so many unknowns.
