A Sad Story Makes for a Very Special
tkdlifemagazine12 June 2022
This is a heartfelt and funny tribute to Bob Saget, who died earlier this year. Jeff Ross, Jim Carey, John Stamos, Chris Rock and a number of other celebrities share stories and humor around the life of a very funny and beloved comedian. John Meyer and Jackson Browne provide stories and music. The setting is a live audience at The Comedy Store, which is very appropriate. Even if you are unfamiliar with bob Sage this is still worth watching because of the unbelievable chemistry between the parties here paying tribute to him. A very sad story but a very good special.

worth watching

It was a different kind of tribute and I was going to stop it and watch something else. It was a celebration of Bob Saget's life and what he meant to everybody on the show. Some parts of it I had to fast forward because it got really boring. It could have been better. I would have liked to see clips of Full House/Fuller House. Jim Carrey looked really bad on it.

Would have been great without Ross and Jim
mgentalen10 June 2022
I was eagerly looking forward to this tribute, but, ultimately, I feel bad for saying this, it failed. The Norm tribute was so amazing, I set my hopes too high for Saget's show.

First of all, Jim Carrey. Jim felt out of place, needing too be in front of the camera as much as he could. Were Bob and Jim " real friends?"

I guess I was hoping, or thought, this would have been five comics each tell a set, but it's more clip reels and " discussing." They show "part' of the memorial service, yet only show Tim Allen and Coullier??

The band didn't add anything for me. It felt there was too much on stage, too many distractions. I was hoping for something else and yet, I feel very discouraged by this tribute. I feel you could have done better Stamos.

Tribute not so much comedy
activesilver20 June 2022
I guess it's an OK tribute to Bob Saget.

Don't watch if you want a comedy show, there isn't much comedy going on.

Some forced (and failing) jokes from mostly Jim carrey and Jeff Ross.

Other than that, i think a song by Bob's daughters was cut out?

And the whole thing seemed very messy.

Just like other "comedy shows" on Netflix recently (spring 2022) it fails, just giving a little bit higher on this one because of the tribute to Bob.

Raw, messy, awkward at times, heartfelt, funny, nostalgic, a great genuine tribute
bbalmd25 June 2022
A lot of people have remarked how awkward and messy some of this is and how some of the people involved seem uncomfortable or socially inappropriate or awkward or even inebriated etc. Etc.... That is precisely what made this feel so genuine to me because it was exactly like a real memorial service. People are ALWAYS awkward and tense or socially odd because death is a very hard thing for people to cope with and share on the same level.

SO yeah, this was not a perfectly scheduled, timed, and choreographed big budget show. Instead it was raw and real and messy and truly felt like a whole big bunch of people coming together to celebrate someone who meant a lot to all of them.

Worst "Tribute" I've Ever Seen
arfdawg-127 June 2022
Hands down, this was a MAJOR disappointment.

It's a haphazard piece of garbage thrown together in 15 seconds.

Unfunny, boring, and hard to watch.

Jim Carey tries to hog the stage throughout. He's an embarrassment and yesterday's news.

celebrate bob s

Tons of family, friends, comedians getting together for a tribute to the awesome bob saget. Don rickles belting out just a little love. Too many comedians to list here, but please check out that cast list on imdb. Some old clips of his standup work, his full house thing. Some new, spontaneous bits from the people gathering at the comedy store. Even the dirty stuff. A couple really pretty songs from john mayer and jackson browne. Great stuff. Now showing on the netflix. Watch it and have a laugh and a cry at the same time.

10/10 for Bob Saget
backup-5036210 June 2022
It's awesome that this was made, but... Jeff Ross and Jim Carrey? I'm sure that guy was great in the 90s but he's such an annoying self-centered ego-maniac no one gets to speak or even have a moment on stage without him interrupting.

Even when he manages to sit still and let others say a few words you can see him smirking and looking around, wondering how we can steal some attention.

I can't stand that guy. Even now when we should be talking about the awesome Bob Saget I'm writing about Jim Carrey and hating every moment of it.

I assume Netflix just invited all the "big names" it could, regardless of their affiliation with the subject in question, as usual. So that's why we have hacks like Jeff Ross, the recently-slapped Chris Rock, and Jim Carrey, instead of people Saget actually hung around with.

Good thing Stamos was there, at least. He's a good dude.

Do yourself a favor and take some shrooms before watching this

Warning: Spoilers
If you like watching a disaster unfold before your own eyes, watch this.

Take a shot every time the footage cuts. You'll die of alcohol poisoning.

This is the funniest special all year.

Don't watch anybody but Chris Rock until he leaves the stage early on. He's thinking the same things as you are. He just did it in person.

How do you introduce Saget's family on stage and not have them say one word?

How are you going to have some random old guy go on stage TWICE? And have him do bridge after bridge. You can see everyone's face like "why am I being a part of this?" The fact that Netflix even published this is hilarious. What a total disaster. But a good one.
