Julius Borden, former pupil of Gaius, comes to Camelot in search of a missing artifact, the Triskellion, which he claims will lead to the discovery of the last dragon's egg in the realm. Merlin, anxious to propagate the dragons' line, is keen to help, but Gaius's cynicism is justified when Borden betrays Merlin, steals the Triskellion and sets out for the tomb housing the egg. Arthur follows, with Merlin and the knights, but to destroy the egg; however, as Borden debilitates all but Merlin with poison, it is left to Merlin to save the egg and ensure that it hatches.
