- Dev Sundaram: [after verbal skirmish with Derek] Well, we're Brits, it's what we do. We establish our place in the pack.
- Karen Cartwright: So, who won?
- Dev Sundaram: Uh. Well, I got to go home with the girl, didn't I?
- [makes playful lunge at her]
- Karen Cartwright: [jumps back] Oh! Oh, that display was not for me.
- Dev Sundaram: No, you're right. I've got something much better I wanna show off to you.
- Karen Cartwright: Well, I'm looking forward to it, because all that British ranting about what school you went to, left me pretty unimpressed.
- Dev Sundaram: How's this?
- [grabs her into his arms, leans in over her]
- Karen Cartwright: Wow...!
- [snickers]
- Karen Cartwright: What movie are we doing now?
- Dev Sundaram: Gone With The Wind, baby.
- [kisses her]
- Derek Wills: [meeting in bar] So, I wanted to talk to you about what happened.
- Karen Cartwright: I know what happened. I didn't get the part.
- Derek Wills: No, the script and the songs aren't even finished yet, there's a lot of changes coming in first, we just needed someone... with more experience with that.
- Karen Cartwright: Oh, she's... lucky, it's a great part... and it's gonna be a great thing.
- Derek Wills: Mm-hmm.
- [about to take sip]
- Derek Wills: So how do you feel about being in the ensemble?
- Karen Cartwright: But... It's a terrific opportunity.
- Derek Wills: Oh, well done. Very polite.
- Karen Cartwright: Well, what am I supposed to say? I'm pissed?
- Derek Wills: Yeah, you should be. You got way too much talent to be in the ensemble.
- [takes that sip]
- Karen Cartwright: Then why did you put me there?
- Derek Wills: Listen... Life is long, theater is longer. It could take five years for 'Marilyn' to get to the stage, and a lot can happen in five years.
