- Annie is assigned to find out why Mossad agent Eyal Lavine is in Washington, but both get in big trouble when his mission gets a CIA asset killed.
- FBI agent Vincent Rossabi is frustrated again when calling a marker from Annie as he noticed CIA interest in crucial informer Jacob, as the brass insists on 'need to know' secrecy. It turns out Jacob is followed by Eyal, who is amused when his prediction comes true as Annie is assigned to keep an eye on him, and actually rather acts as his partner. Jai also takes an interest, as Jacob can lead to seasoned Yemeni terrorist Fouad Saeed, against whom Eyal holds a deep personal grudge. Meanwhile Auggie notifies his special interest in late comrade in arms Billy's sister, asking to switch her Peace Cors mission away from Eritrea.—KGF Vissers
- Annie watches blue grass at a bar on a date. She gets a call from Vincent Rosabi, her friendly neighborhood G-Man. He's on his way to meet her. Annie bails on her blind date.
Rosabi (Noam Jenkins) picks her up and tells her he has a confidential informant who has been approached by the CIA. He wants the agency to back off because the informant is involved in a big case of his. He followed protocol asking the higher ups, but got total silence. He tells Annie his CI will not be meeting the operative at Joe's bar tonight.
Annie checks with Auggie, who says the agency has no interest in Rosabi's CI. Annie goes to the bar. She's laughs when she sees who it is, Mossad agent Eyal Lavine (Oded Fehr) . He's drinking Sazerac and she tells him the bar in town that serves it best.
She reminds him people have gone to prison for impersonating CIA operatives. She tells he won't be meeting with anyone tonight. He laughs and acts casual, but she cautions him again against pretending to be CIA. He predicts her bosses will want to know why Mossad is interested in the informant and order her to follow him.
Back at Langley, Joan confirms he was right. The informant is Jacob Yassen, the son of a wealthy emir from the UAE. His construction company has a lot of fishy dealings.
Jai turns up and says Jacob turned informant to avoid a bid tampering charge. Joan tells Annie to trail Eyal and not tell Rosabi what they're up to. Jai argues for full communications with the FBI, but Joan overrules him.
Annie calls Rosabi and gives him the runaround. She's watching Rosabi get his coffee when Eyal approaches her. He invites her to ride with him. She tells him he has a day to wrap up or they'll need answers.
Mossad is interested in someone Jacob can put them in contact with, a deep cover operative Mossad has had in place for more than a decade. The asset has gone silent and they're worried, Eyal says.
As they get dressed in the morning, Auggie tries to convince Parker (Devin Kelley) he's excited for her Peace Corps placement in Eritrea for two years. She's leaving in four months but hasn't told her parents yet.
Annie goes with Eyal to meet with his asset in a townhouse. She follows as he breaks in. It's a love shack where Jacob brings his girlfriends and which his dad and the FBI don't know about it.
They find a naked woman in bed and Jacob nearby. Eyal smacks him. Annie calms the situation and tells Jacob they just need an introduction. Eyal shows him a photo. He says he doesn't know him, but then admits he's a messenger.
He leaves a marker in a public place, calls a number, waits an hour. If the man wants to meet, there's another mark.
Eyal and Annie drive with Jacob handcuffed in the back seat.
They leave tape on the mailbox by the Capitol as Jacob instructed. Jacob makes the call.
As they wait, Annie asks Eyal about medical school. He says he took a leave of absence in 2002 because his family needed him. He tells her about going with the flow and they have a nice riverside moment.
Auggie visits Joan for a favor. He tells her about a "friend" being placed in Eritrea. He wants her to be reassigned, he's worried because she's all her family has left. Joan tells him to write a request and she'll make sure the right people get it. But she can't make guarantees. She tells him she's glad he came to her.
Back in the car, Annie asks Eyal for more info. The man's code name is "Cardinal." He's not an asset, he's a Mossad agent. He assures her he's not spying on US interests. She takes out her phone to check in but Eyal throws it out the window.
They check back at the mailbox and see the target has also left a tape mark. Jacob gives them directions. They get blocked behind a bus and a van pulls up. Gunmen get out and shoot Jacob in the back seat. Eyal and Annie get out and a firefight ensues. They run for cover as a compact bomb is thrown under their car. They are still on the scene when the FBI pulls up. Rosabi is with them. He's pissed at Annie.
At FBI HQ Rosabi is really angry at Joan and Jai for ruining a three year investigation. She wants to ship Eyal home, but won't say who he is. Jai says he's Mossad. He tells Rosabi pointedly that they want to be helpful, even if it may not look that way from all of them. They're putting Eyal on a plane home.
Rosabi keeps Annie to debrief.
When they're alone, Joan tells Jai he's undermining her personally or his promotion has affected his better judgment. She reminds him to speak to her privately next time or better yet. keep his thoughts to himself.
Annie returns to Langley. Auggie tells her the FBI caught one of the shooters. The bureau will take down Eyal's man tonight. He's not a Mossad operative like Eyal said. He's a Yemeni hitman. Auggie says there's chatter that he might have been involved in the 2002 Golan Heights peace talks massacre. Annie takes note of the date and runs off.
Annie finds Eyal at the bar she recommended, drinking Sazerac. He had been placed on a commercial flight wjere the Federal Air Marshal was a friendly former Mossad agent who let him go.
Annie calls Eyal out on his mission. He confesses. "Cardinal" hit the peace talks on 2002 and one of the civilians killed was Eyal's sister. It's the reason he became a Mossad agent.
She realizes Eyal is on a suicide mission. She urges him not to do it. He questions why she cares so much and whispers something to her as he walks away.
Annie joining him in his room, then in his bed.
But she stops him by zip-tying him to the bed. She assures him she'll let him go after the FBI gets the hitter. Eyal's not angry, but impressed by her technique.
She borrows Eyal's phone and calls Auggie. Everyone's looking for Eyal and Cardinal wasn't where the FBI went to find him. Annie tells Auggie she has Eyal and what hotel they're at. She's startled when she sees "Cardinal" and two accomplices walking in. She tells Auggie.
Up in his room, Eyal works to get free from the ziptie. She realizes Eyal knew they were coming, which is why he stayed. Auggie tells her Jai has a team in the field and not to handle it alone.
Annie runs up the hotel stairwell. She sees Cardinal and his men get out on Eyal's floor and prepare their guns fitted with suppressors. Auggie tells Jai to hurry. He and his men enter the lobby.
"Cardinal" and his men shoot their way into Eyal's room. Annie watches from the stairway and runs to the room. The men search inside for Eyal, who knocks one out as he comes after him. Annie runs in the room and shoves "Cardinal" just as fires so he only hits Eyal in the shoulder.
"Cardinal" runs to the roof and Eyal follows, holding his wounded shoulder. Eyal looks for him in the shadows.
Back in the stairwell, Annie hears a gunshot.
She runs to the roof to see Eyal sinking to his knees. She looks over and sees "Cardinal" is dead.
Later, Rosabi tries to digest the story they're feeding him. Jai tells him Eyal didn't shoot anyone, and claims that he shot "Cardinal" in self-defense.
Rosabi tells Annie it's the last time he asks her for a favor.
Annie thanks Jai for covering for Eyal.
Annie checks on Eyal as paramedics tend to him. He suggests he'll see where the current takes him.
Auggie brings Joan a letter. It's not a change of assignment letter, it's his Close and Continuing Relationship form. He doesn't want Parker to go to Eritrea or anywhere and plans to make the most of their four months together.
Back at the bar, Annie drinks Sazerac alone, with an eye on the door.
