Eli Roth is spot-on when it comes to most of the points he makes with his upcoming documentary titled Fin, but one thing that he kind of needs a refresher on is the idea that one species dying off is going to wreck the world. This is when someone should be reminding Roth that many species have died out over the course of the earth’s long and storied existence. But barring that, humanity is unfortunately very responsible for the decline in the number of sharks that are currently left in the oceans, and without the apex predators atop the food

"I care about the ocean... I have to expose the truth." Discovery has launched the first official trailer for a new Eli Roth movie, and if that sounds a bit strange, don't worry as it's totally on brand (for both Roth and Discovery). Eli Roth's latest movie is called Fin, a documentary about sharks and saving them as they are being killed in larger and larger numbers. "Fin is the scariest film I've ever made, and certainly the most dangerous, but I wanted to send a message of hope to end this needless massacre of sharks. They keep our oceans clean to produce half our oxygen, and they deserve our respect and deserve to be saved, especially now when the shark fin sales ban is going before the House," Roth says. "I wanted to show the crisis from all sides and paired with an action campaign we can make the change necessary to protect them.

Eli Roth, the horror filmmaker behind such blood-spattered classics as “Hostel” and “The Green Inferno,” wants to scare viewers into social action with his latest film, the documentary “Fin.” He’s devoting his cinematic prowess to an important environmental cause, exposing a vast criminal enterprise that has led to the deaths of millions of sharks. These creatures are being needlessly slaughtered to feed the continued demand for shark fin soup and other shark fin dishes, and the killings threaten the species with extinction.
Subscription streaming service Discovery Plus acquired the documentary and will air the film on July 13, 2021.
“‘Fin’ is the scariest film I’ve ever made, and certainly the most dangerous, but I wanted to send a message of hope to end this needless massacre of sharks,” Roth said. “They keep our oceans clean to produce half our oxygen, and they deserve our respect and deserve to be saved.

Syd has returned with her first solo single since 2017, “Missing Out.”
Described in a press release as an “anti-Valentine’s Day ode,” the track finds Syd lacing a gorgeous, aching melody over a sparse arrangement of bruised synths, clattering drums, and the occasional chime of a glockenspiel. “Hope you finding what you need or what you seek ’cause now I’m free,” Syd sings, “And maybe in another life, you’d be mine, mine, mine/But you’re missing out/You’re missing out.”

Trans-Atlantic Spanish-language production powerhouse El Estudio and Mexico’s Morbido Group have joined forces in the largest genre, horror and fantasy production initiative in the Spanish-speaking world.
Feature films, series, remakes and reboots of classic IP and even unscripted programming are all part of the plan going forward for El Estudio and Morbido. Already, the companies have one series, three films and a talk show in development which they will announce in the coming months.
Production is hardly the endgame for the two companies, however, as they will look to change the genre industry on a fundamental level. Other initiatives include consolidating theatrical distribution circuits across South and Central America, supporting industry acceleration hubs, producing local events in major Latin American countries, talent management, a comic book/graphic novel division and expanding the Morbido brand into Spain and the U.S.

Try as it might, Fortnite developer Epic Games hasn’t quite managed to keep its future plans a secret. Somewhat humorously, however, the premature reveal this time around doesn’t come by way of a talented data miner or inside leak but rather, a store listing. Us company Apple, it seems, has jumped the gun on announcing what’s coming to the battle royale in Season 11, having updated the Spanish version of its app store with a series of new images.

Nobody is quite sure what’s going to happen just yet, but make no mistake – something big is going down in Fortnite.
The battle royale, which is scheduled to enter its 11th season next week, has been teasing a special event to close out the current season, Out of Time, for a while and the payoff fans have been waiting for is almost here. The in-game countdown being projected on the night’s sky over Battle Island will hit zero on Sunday, October 13th, and developer Epic is encouraging players to get a front-row seat to the potential devastation that will unfold.
Right now, the running theory among data miners and leakers is that, due to the actions of Fortnite‘s mysterious Visitor, Battle Island will cease to be, prompting a mass migration of survivors to a brand new map. Whether such events come to pass, we’ll ultimately know...

Fortnite players will soon have no choice but to seek out a new game to satisfy their battle royale needs.
We jest, of course. Epic Games’ absurdly popular shooter isn’t going anywhere, but that hasn’t stopped the developer from teasing some form of apocalyptic catastrophe due imminently for Battle Island. For a while now, data miners have been excavating various files pointing towards a new event meant to close out Season X: Out of Time, one that’s simply dubbed The End. What that will entail, nobody knows, but the game’s developer seems eager to play up the supposed destruction of Fortnite.
Having recently updated his Twitter profile, Epic creative director Donald Mustard has slyly altered his current location which now simply reads “The End.”

So heartbreaking. Burt Reynolds tragically died after going into cardiac arrest at age 82 on Thursday, Sept. 6, and now, his ex-girlfriend Sally Field has shared her reaction to his untimely death. "There are times in your life that are so indelible, they never fade away," Sally said in a statement to People. "They stay alive, even forty years later. My years with Burt never leave my mind. He will be in my history and my heart, for as long as I live. Rest, Buddy." (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Sally and Burt previously started dating in the late 1970s after co-starring in several movies, including Smokey and the Bandit, The End, Hooper, and Smokey and the Bandit II. However, they split after five years together and went on to marry other people. Burt was married to actress Loni Anderson from 1988 to 1994 and Sally was hitched to Alan Greisman from 1984 until 1993. So, why did they split?...

With his passing, one of filmdom's greatest icons is gone, but what an incredible Hollywood success story! The career of Burt Reynolds spanned an incredible 60 years, beginning with guest-starring roles on TV series and a couple of shows of his own. But with an eye always locked towards the big screen, he made that leap and over the course of a decade became one of the most popular movie stars in the world. In the latter part of his life, as leading man roles eluded him, he transitioned over to becoming more of a character actor — and it's an amazing legacy he's left us. Burt is Smokey and the Bandit. Burt Reynolds, one of Hollywood’s most popular leading men during the ’70s and early ’80s in such films as “Deliverance,” “Smokey and the Bandit, “The Longest Yard” and “Semi-Tough,” has died. His rep confirmed that he died Thursday in Jupiter, Fla. He was 82.
He later earned an Oscar nomination as best supporting actor in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ode to skin flicks, “Boogie Nights.” He had been set to appear in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Hollywood.”
Reynolds’ appeal lay in his post-modern macho posture undercut by a wry self-awareness, which he used to good effect in comedies as well as action films. For a period during the ’70s he was the nation’s top box office draw. But after one too many bad movies, his popularity waned. He returned to television, where he’d gotten his start, mostly in Westerns, and produced his own sitcom, “Evening Shade,” which brought him an Emmy.

The wartime backdrop may be 1945 Indochina rather than 1969 Vietnam, but “Apocalypse Eventually” would be an apt alternative title for “To the Ends of the World,” Guillaume Nicloux’s deliberate, elliptical and startlingly carnal vision of a rogue French soldier’s vengeful heart-of-darkness quest. Sewn through with horrifying imagery of brutality and decay — yet not specifically an anti-war film so much as a personal probe into the toxifying properties of unresolved grief — this formally impressive but pristinely unpleasant provocation extends themes explored in Nicloux’s previous two films, “Valley of Love” and “The End.” Yet it finds a more robust cinematic language for its philosophical wanderings than either of those curiosities, with cinematographer David Ungaro’s ravishing jungle vistas practically causing sweat to bead on the screen. That semi-epic scope, coupled with the star presence of Gaspard Ulliel and recent Nicloux regular Gérard Depardieu, should beef up distributor interest in a...

Weird Fiction is the kind of movie you dreamed of making as a kid but didn’t have the ambition or talent to follow through. Written as an 80′s inspired, direct-to-video, schlock-fest that’s all the rage these days, Weird Fiction separates itself from the pack by being not only well constructed, but fun and charming.
Broken down into four segments, the Collector briefly guides us from one tale to the next. For good or ill, there’s no book-ending story or interconnected plots between each episode. I find this a refreshing change, as nobody watches an anthology flick for the bookend story; usually it’s a distraction. And having to weave the plots together can sometimes come across as gimmicky. It’s nice to just let the stories be themselves,...

A few months ago a trailer emerged for Jorge Torregrossa's The End (Fin). It's not that the trailer was bad, quite the contrary it suggested some good things, a mix of drama, adventure and end of world doom and gloom, but it seems that one of the major reasons the project, from a little known director best known in his native country as a TV director, was garnering so much attention from international sites, is the fact that it's written by Jorge Guerricaechevarria of Cell 211 fame and The Orphanage's Sergio G. Sanchez. That's some solid DNA. [Continued ...]...

120 companies looking to buy films will attend the American Film Market for the first time, part of the more than 750 distributors from 75 countries that have registered for the only stand-alone theatrical feature film market (all others are attached to festivals) October 31-November 7 in Santa Monica. Korea (25), China (13), and the U.S. (11) lead the way with the most newcomers, AFM Managing Director and Independent Film & Television Alliance EVP Jonathan Wolf said in a release. “We are seeing a shift in the way sub-distributors acquire film as they steadily rely less on local distributors and more on direct acquisitions”, he said. “We also expect a significant increase in buyers from China.” AFM expects 1,500 individuals from these companies at the market from more than 70 countries. Time to add some red hot spice to your horror news as the trailer has come for the latest Latin tale of lunacy, Fin, or The End for you few out there who don't know a single bit of Spanish.
Jorge Torregrosa directs from a script written by Cell 211's Jorge Guerricaechevarría and The Orphanage's Sergio García Sánchez. Maribel Verdú, Clara Lago and Daniel Grao star.
Synopsis
A group of old friends get together for a weekend in a mountain cabin. Years have gone by and yet nothing seems to have changed between them. But lurking behind the laughter and stories is a murky episode from the past that continues to haunt them. A strange, sudden incident alters their plans, leaving them stranded and with no line of communication to the outside world. On their way for help, the group starts to disintegrate, just as a new natural order is unveiled before their astonished eyes.

This has been intriguing us for some time and now there’s word on a release date -and a few new pics have surfaced - we thought it time for a mention of upcoming Spanish supernatural thriller Fin (aka The End). Fin marks Jorge Torregrossa’s debut feature as a director, but more important (to us anyhow) the screenplay was penned by Sergio G. Sánchez, writer of the superb 2007 horror flick The Orphanage. Add to that a really excellent cast, and like we said...“intriguing.” The End opens in Spain August 31, so expect a trailer soon.
