The best horror movies succeed by tapping into our collective nightmares. They take the big ideas that haunt us at night — the things we’re all afraid to admit terrify us — and give us a thrilling catharsis by bringing them to life on screen. Great horror filmmakers understand that there’s already more than enough darkness in our hearts, and all they have to do is reflect it back at us. So it was only a matter of time before a brave director took on the one bogeyman whose portrayal has evaded even the most twisted auteurs: David Harbour in a bowling shirt with a bad combover.
While it’s hard to judge anyone for looking bad when they’re damned to spend eternity wearing whatever they happened to have on when they died, it’s worth noting that ghosts have a relatively simple dress code to follow. When it...

Exclusive: Having rallied in recent months against censorship-advocating Republican politicians and the loss of abortion rights in America, Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider is going back to the past to spotlight our potential future.
The heavy metal lead singer has teamed with Magilla Entertainment for a documentary series about the efforts of Tipper Gore and the Parents Music Resource Center 37 years ago to excise so-called obscene music. Confounding all expectations, Snider appeared with Frank Zappa and John Denver before a Senate committee in 1985 and proved a compelling and insightful advocate for freedom of expression and creative license.
“To be in the crosshairs of this bipartisan attack on free speech caught me completely off guard,” Snider told Deadline. “All of my rock and roll dreams were finally coming true, and the Pmrc was trying to shut me up,” the “We’re Not Gonna Take It” singer added of the heyday of hair metal.

A chat from the afterlife with the gifted dramatist leaves an actor feeling lucky to have ever known him

So I think I may have chatted briefly with my dear and recently departed friend, Terrence McNally, the other day. Perhaps I should explain. Anyway, there I was, doing my best to be open to the experience of communicating with the dead ...

Theresa Caputo has had to film her TLC reality show “Long Island Medium” virtually since the pandemic broke out, but that hasn’t stopped her from giving strangers spontaneous messages from their departed loved ones as she’s going about her day — even if she has to do from six feet away and through a mask.
“My rule always with Spirit is if they push me enough to deliver messages,” Caputo told TheWrap ahead of the launch of her new podcast from Acast called “Hey Spirit!” out now on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.
Caputo said Spirit did just that as she was finishing up a doctor’s appointment back in July when she met a woman in the office and was immediately compelled to give her a message from her late mother and husband. The reality star uses “Spirit” to refer to departed souls communicating with her from the other side.

Theresa Caputo is never without work to do.
Whether it’s channeling the spirits of strangers’ dead relatives or planning her daughter’s wedding, “I’m always working,” she told TheWrap. Indeed, she was unpacking boxes in Long Island as we spoke on the phone ahead of the 14th season premiere of “Long Island Medium.”
Caputo was excited to talk about all things new in the upcoming season — including an episode in which she channeled “Spirit” — her word for the departed souls whose messages she channels from the other side — for the entire day without stopping.
“We did 24 hours without me turning off Spirit,” she said. “So literally from the second I woke up, I video’d myself with my iPhone. The second I came down in the morning, my crew was already waiting. I did not turn off Spirit, so literally every place I went, I was reading people left and right.
