Stefan Ruf says that Coyote Woman, his follow-up to Motorpsycho Maniacs aka Sex Terrorists on Wheels, was inspired by both Ralph Nelson’s Soldier Blue and Bruno Mattei’s Scalps. That combination of critically acclaimed sadism and grindhouse sleaze certainly caught my attention and all but demanded I give it a review.
Deep Water and his warriors attack a family of settlers, scalping the parents and abducting the two daughters Iris who escapes on the way back to their village, and Cynthia (Jaqueline McNulty; The Great Turkey Miracle) who is adopted into the tribe.

You may recognize Garrett Hedlund from movies and TV series like "The Tutor," "Tulsa King," and "The Marsh King's Daughter," but he also made headlines in recent years for his whirlwind romance with Emma Roberts.
Before the stars got together in March 2019, Hedlund was in a long-term relationship with Kirsten Dunst and Roberts was in an on-and-off relationship with her "American Horror Story" costar Evan Peters. However, when things with their respective partners didn't work out, Hedlund and Roberts soon found love with each other, and in August 2020, the "Maybe I Do" actor announced she was pregnant with the couple's first child. That December, it was revealed Roberts had given birth to a boy named Rhodes.
Hedlund told "Today" in August 2021 that they chose the name Rhodes because he loves traveling. "I thought there was something wonderful within the journey and anticipation and always holding on to your wonderment about something,...

Jack Ryan drew 1.15 billion minutes of viewing on Amazon’s Prime Video for the week of July 10-16, which featured the release of its final two episodes. The series grew 19 percent from the previous week’s 966 million minutes and hit its highest weekly total since late December 2022, when the binge release of season three had 1.67 billion minutes of viewing.

Paramount+'s highly-anticipated "Zoey 101" spinoff film, "Zoey 102," hit the streamer on July 27, and it features most of the original show's cast, including Jamie Lynn Spears. The new movie's plot sees Zoey confront the state of her life (and love) as an adult when she reunites with her Pacific Coast Academy crew at her friends Quinn and Logan's over-the-top wedding.
However, three of the show's main characters are noticeably missing from the reunion festivities. Victoria Justice, who played Zoey's friend Lola; Alexa Nikolas, who played Nicole Bristow for the first two seasons; and Paul Butcher, who portrayed Zoey's little brother, Dustin Brooks. The three original series staples will not be seen in the film for their own reasons.
Find out everything we know about why Victoria Justice, Alexa Nikolas, and Paul Butcher aren't in "Zoey 102."

Directed by Jordan Ross, The Tutor has some good moments when it tries to be a mystery thriller. Where it falters is when it uses silly plot devices that don’t seem entirely justified. I don’t blame the performances, because it is self-evident that the editing let them down. One emotional state jarringly changing to another doesn’t do justice to what Garrett Hedlund and Noah Schnapp, the two lead actors, were going for with their characters. The plot revolves around a tutor named Ethan. He often teaches wealthy kids and has apparently become famous because of his teaching skills. One fine day, he gets a tutoring gig, which would pay him a huge sum. He takes it, as his girlfriend is about to have a baby and he wants to be a provider, but soon he discovers that the boy he is tutoring has ulterior motives of his own,...

Hollywood actors and writers may be on the picket line, due to the many issues they have with various studios and networks, but they can’t really say that all streamers aren’t reporting how their shows and movies are faring. That’s exactly what Netflix has been doing each and every week with the Top 10 charts for the week of July 10, giving a detailed report on its current films and series, as “The Lincoln Lawyer” took the top spot for the latter and the sci-fi sequel “Bird Box Barcelona” entered the charts.
We’ll begin with the latter, since “Bird Box Barcelona” is the sequel to one of Netflix’s biggest hits, 2018’s “Bird Box” starring Sandra Bullock, the streamer’s fourth most-watched feature film ever. In this case, as the title implies, the post-apocalyptic action has been moved to Spain, and thusly, it charted on the non-English film...

After two weeks reigning over Netflix’s English-language series, Season 3 of The Witcher has been dethroned. The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 is the new champ for the week of July 10 to July 16 with 8.3M views across five episodes.
The first five episodes hit Netflix on July 6 and debuted at No. 2 on the list last week. The latter half of the season is set to release in August.
Audiences were also catching up with Manuel Garcia-Rulfo’s Mickey Haller in Season 1 of the legal drama, which soared to No. 5 on the English-language list with 3.4M views.
The Witcher didn’t fall far from its top spot, though it did experience a fairly significant decrease in viewership week-over-week. The first half of Season 3 is currently sitting in second place with 6.7M views, which is about half of the week prior’s nearly 14M views.

Franchises in theaters are showing their age, but they’re a sure bet at home. This week’s VOD charts have “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts” (Paramount) and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” (Disney), both $19.99, battling for top spot. The Hasbro action film is #1 at Vudu and iTunes, while the latest Marvel entry remains #1 at GooglePlay.
Meantime, Wes Anderson’s “Asteroid City” (Focus), released at $19.99 after its fourth weekend, is fourth or fifth on all three lists. It is behind “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” the year’s biggest domestic hit, now at $5.99 and ranks third everywhere. The top three films all grossed between $150 million and $575 million; “Asteroid” is not yet at $30 million. Anderson’s $25 million budget, a fraction of its competitors’, suggests a lucrative haul for Focus.

Following the announcement of her pregnancy in October 2020, actress Emma Roberts welcomed a son - whom she shares with former partner Garrett Hedlund - sometime in late December.
"The Tutor" actor Hedlund and Roberts were first romantically linked in March 2019, but kept their relationship fairly private. The couple ultimately broke up in January 2022, according to Entertainment Tonight, with a source telling the outlet at the time that their relationship had "been rocky for a long time."
Despite concern about her fertility due to an endometriosis diagnosis, Roberts said as soon as she stopped thinking about conceiving, she got pregnant. "It sounds cheesy," Roberts previously told Cosmopolitan. "But even then, I didn't want to get my hopes up. Things can go wrong when you're pregnant. That's something you don't see on Instagram. So I kept it to myself, my family, and my partner, not wanting to make grand plans if it wasn't going to work out.

Vertical fully financed the pic and has taken North American rights, with Voltage Pictures locking down rights for all international territories, preparing now to present the film to buyers at Cannes.
In the film written and directed by Mukunda Michael Dewil (Collide), a young couple is forced to flee their Christian missionary post in the Kalahari Desert aboard a rickety plane after an extremist militant group threatens their lives. Piloted by a corrupt smuggler (Hirsch), the plane loses power and crash-lands in the middle of an animal preserve populated by lions, leopards and hyenas. Injured, frightened, and being tracked by the extremists, this ragtag group must fight for their survival from both man and beast where only the strong will survive.

Conventional thrillers that depend on twist endings to captivate viewers generally leave a trail of breadcrumbs along the narrative progression, which plays with the audience’s negligence and later creates a cohesive roadmap, making sense of the causality. Unsatisfying thrillers tend to fall into the trap of taking an abrupt U-turn to suit the plot, which doesn’t only take away the conviction factor but also ruins all the build-up as well. Unfortunately, “The Tutor,” directed by Jordan Ross, falls into the second category. In addition to the poorly crafted twist that leaves a bad aftertaste, a character bluntly stating out loud the message the movie wants to convey really takes the cake. We would also like to add the fact that the title of the movie has little to no significance to the larger narrative, which is a bit surprising given how much literary terminology was tossed around in...

Judging from the marketing of The Tutor, you’d be forgiven for mistaking the film for a contemporary queer update of a film like The Crush (1993). While not exclusively the purview of the 90s, a film like The Crush – in which an underage “sexpot” with a malicious streak ensnares an older man in her web of sexual intrigue – prospered in the era of Erotic Thrillers, Dtv and Vcrs.
Films in which adults are tempted into sexual relationships with minors are considered taboo for mainstream contemporary audiences. This is why the marketing of The Tutor was intriguing: the trailer suggests that rich, privileged teen Jackson (Stranger Things’ Noah Schnapp) unfairly accuses his working class tutor Ethan (Garrett Hedlund) of improper behaviour. The young man then begins to stalk and effectively ruin the life of the older man, jeopardizing his reputation and the status of his relationship with pregnant girlfriend, Annie (Victoria Justice...

Plot: Follows a tutor who, after being assigned an unexpected task at a mansion, finds himself struggling with the obsessions of his student, who threatens to expose his darkest secrets.
Review: In many ways, The Tutor feels like a Bryan De Palma movie in both its storytelling and editing choices. There’s a huge mystery at the center of several smaller mysteries and the characters are hard to pin down. But also like a De Palma movie, there are plenty of logic leaps and strange tonal shifts. But if you’ve avoided the trailer so far, I’d continue to do so as this absolutely gives away a bit too much. As someone that knew nothing going into the film, I couldn’t believe some of the twists and turns.

I was able to talk with Garrett Hedlund and Noah Schnapp about their new film, The Tutor. Since the film relies so heavily on the mystery at play and has quite the game-changing end, the actors had to really skirt around the subject. But I still really enjoyed getting some more insight into their roles. Given how much of a physical transformation Hedlund goes through here, and with how much Schnapp plays against type, I think this will be one to remember. My review will release later this week and I absolutely loved the movie as it reminded me of a 90’s De Palma film. And be sure to check out the trailer below where you can actually see my own quote for the film (around the 1:38 mark).

The Tutor makes its way to cinemas across the United States this weekend and to mark the release we had the pleasure in speaking to the two leading stars, Garrett Hedlung and Stranger Things star Noah Schnapp.
The film works as a real two-hander, as both actors square up in what can best be described as a psychological dance. We speak about their roles and getting into the heads of the characters, and they talk about the allure of an unreliable narrator. We also speak about the greatest teachers they have had, both from their time in film, and in school.

Noah Schnapp, most widely known for his role as Will Byers on Netflix’s Stranger Things, is taking his talents to the food industry. Today, the actor has announced his creative partnership with Nextbite, a virtual restaurant company, to launch TenderFix, a delivery-only menu of chicken and plant-based sandwiches, sliders and tenders. It’s available nationwide via TenderFix.com, DoorDash, UberEats, GrubHub and Postmates.
“I’m excited to partner on this delivery-only chicken restaurant, TenderFix. Victoria Justice was one of the biggest teen stars of the 2000s, appearing in TV shows like Victorious, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, and iCarly. However, the actor surprisingly made a large salary for Zoey 101, despite only having a supporting role.
Victoria Justice’s role on ‘Zoey 101’
Justice began acting when she was 10 years old with a small part in an episode of Gilmore Girls. Just two years later, she scored the gig on Nickelodeon’s Zoey 101. Justice played Lola Martinez, the main character Zoey’s (played by Jamie Lynn Spears) boarding school roommate.
Her character debuted in Season 2 of the popular teen show. Lola was an aspiring actor with dreams of Hollywood stardom. She often put her acting skills to use during various schemes she and the rest of the characters pulled off, from disguising herself as a goth or a boy, to faking a British accent.

Fans of “The English Patient” will soon get their wish to see Ralph Fiennes and Juliette Binoche reunite on screen for the first time in 25 years. The pair will star in a new take on Homer’s ancient classic “The Odyssey” called “The Return” as directed by Uberto Pasolini. Bleecker Street has acquired the rights to the film for a planned release in 2024.
“The Return” was first announced in April with both Fiennes and Binoche attached, but the details haven’t firmed up until now. Bleecker Street picked up the North American theatrical rights to the movie out of the European Film Market (EFM) going on now in Berlin. HanWay Films will maintain international rights, and has already locked deals in several territories.
Production on “The Return” will kick off in Greece this spring, filming in Corfu and the Peloponnese, before continuing in Italy.
