Great concept, little talent

This is a great concept with the potential to tap into different audiences - Sewing Bee, Drag Race etc. Unfortunately, it suffers from a lack of 'wow' factor in the designs, odd editing, and little real insight in the interactions. Blu's charm and enthusiasm just about makes it watchable.

Ugh! Big flop.

Being a drag show winner does not make One a presenter, let alone a watchable presenter!

The format of this show is also pretty dire, only 2 contestants and there's oomph in-between flicking from 1 contestant to the other.

All just a bit dull and insipid, not helped by a dull presenter.

Poorly produced, poorly hosted

There is definite room for sewing shows and competition shows with lower stakes (see Great British Sewing Bee), but this low-budget sleepy-go-bye-bye format, lack of anything actually happening (two contestants? Seriously) and a young host who is keen, but unfortunately comes across grating and artificial just does not make for compelling tv, or even mild enough to keep on while you do the ironing. There's just something irksome and time-wasting about it.

Unlike the needles, this show is blunt and a definite skip for anyone whether you're interested in sewing and otherwise. Throw on an old rerun of Bake Off or something instead if yo uneed.

Cobbled Together

I adore Blu Hydrangea so that taints my feelings for this strange BBC3 fashion contest somewhat. The first three episodes take place in a mansion, two young designers have to make and construct a garment. They win 50p and a pat on the head from a relative industry professional. The budget seemed perhaps, a quarter of that grand prize. The final episode is an entirely different beast and was likely filmed much later by different people and feels slightly more cohesive, if utterly baffling. Given Blu's recent successes a second run of this strange project seems unlikely, which is probably for the best.

Would've been amazing with better producing

I've been looking for a competition for costume making/ cosplay for a while so I was super excited to find this. While watching the show, it felt a little dry. Felt like something they'd put on CBBC. Not enough contestants, should've been something similar to Glow up where a group of contestants compete every week with different theme each time to finally crown one winner. The sudden change of studio on the last episode (episode 4) was as if they had a sudden budget cut, even the prize was worse than episode one. It didn't feel like the same show as the first 3 episodes. Blue hydrangea is usually excellent but her energy compared to the rest of the production seem mismatched. Having a flamboyant presenter who felt like they're overly trying to add excitement to the show seemed a little forced. I did enjoy the show and hope they make another season, but they really need to put some more work into the whole production.
