Popularity and awards aside, Full Metal Jacket (like most Kubrick films) left a clear mark that became more than just an iconic moment of the culture. Love, hate, or indifference, you couldn’t help talking about it, and it was a film that pushed the collective sense of what films can do to such a degree that we live in its wake still.
