It’s no secret that Vin Diesel has become one of the most successful actors in the industry, with the re-launched Fast and Furious franchise boosting his recognition that much higher in the past four years.
And following the success of its latest instalment this summer, it looks like Diesel may well be bound for the Marvel Cinematic Universe somewhere down the line.
Diesel, who is of course well known for connecting with his fans on Facebook, has taken to the web once more and announced that Marvel looking to meet with him:
P.s. Marvel has requested a meeting… no idea what for… haha, you probably know better than me…
Let the speculation begin, folks, because the prospect of Diesel joining the franchise is nothing short of awesome.

MGM is in negotiations with Adam Shankman to direct The Machine, the action comedy starring Vin Diesel. The film was scripted by Night at the Museum scribes Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant. Diesel is also producing the project.
It is a re-team for Shankman and Diesel, who previously worked together on The Pacifier.
In The Machine Diesel will star as a human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world’s first true ultimate weapon, before the project was decommissioned and buried. Two decades later, The Machine is discovered by a kid who befriends him. When the government discovers he has been reactivated, The Machine steps up to protect the family harboring him.
I enjoyed The Pacifier for what it was. I also find it very funny that Diesel who voiced The Iron Giant will be basically playing that same character.
Do you think Vin Diesel and comedy are a good mix?...

Two years ago, Vin Diesel signed on to star in "The Machine," an action comedy written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (Night at the Museum). Now comes word that Adam Shankman has been hired to direct, which means he'll be re-teaming with Diesel after working together on "The Pacifier." In the new movie, Diesel will play a human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world's first true ultimate weapon. Twenty years after the project was buried and decommissioned for reasons unknown, The Machine is discovered by a kid who befriends him. When the government learns it has been reactivated, the Machine must protect the family harboring him. Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (Wanted) were recently brought on to provide a re-write. No word when filming is scheduled to begin.

The last time that Vin Diesel, director Adam Shankman, and writers Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant teamed up the results were not pretty. I am, of course, referring to the 2005 family comedy The Pacifier, which featured the Fast & Furious 6 star playing a disgraced Navy Seal-turned babysitter. The film got crushed by critics, but actually wound up being a big box office hit, making over $100 million domestically on a $56 million budget. Still, you can excuse us from being excited about the group's next collaboration. According to Deadline, Shankman is now in talks with MGM to direct The Machine, a new family comedy that Lennon and Garant originally wrote (it has since been rewritten by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar) and that Diesel has been attached to since May of 2011. The plot description says the film is about a robot (Diesel) that was designed by the Pentagon to be the ...

The latest script draft of the film was co-written by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, who also co-wrote I Am Number Four.
Shankman and Diesel previously worked together on the 2005 film, The Pacifier.

Anyone who has been waiting with baited breath for the reunion of The Pacifier director Adam Shankman with that hit family film's star Vin Diesel may finally get their wish, as it's being reported by Deadline that Shankman ( Hairspray , Rock of Ages ) is replacing Peter Segal ( Get Smart ) as the director of Diesel's action-comedy The Machine for MGM. Not to be confused with Caradog James' film The Machine , which is premiering at the 12th Annual Tribeca Film Festival next week, the movie has Diesel playing a "human-like machine" (i.e. a cyborg) created by the Pentagon as a weapon before being decommissioned and buried for twenty years. The Machine is then found by a kid who befriends him and he ends up having to protect the family once the government discovers...

Everybody prepare to get happy, because it looks like the team who made The Pacifier might be getting back together! No, wait… come back! It is true, however: MGM is talking to director Adam Shankman about taking over Vin Diesel family action comedy The Machine.Originally touted in 2011, the ‘80s-throwback-in-all-but-star finds Diesel as a humanoid robot developed as the ultimate weapon by the Us government. After the project was decommissioned, the Vin-bot was put into dusty storage for 20 years until accidentally reactivated by a young boy. The two become friends and Vin moves in with the family. But then the mean ol’ government decides that they need the weapon back and our hero must protect his new charges.Night At The Museum duo Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant dreamt up the concept and wrote the original script, which has since seen a polish from Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

We generally think of Vin Diesel as the full-throttle action star who leads films like "xXx," but he was once a well-dressed man who really looked like Drake.
Snakkle dug up this yearbook photo of the now bald actor as part of their "Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow" gallery, and it's hard not to be impressed by Diesel's style. That skinny tie! Those white socks!
The actor recently turned 45 and is certainly still keeping busy. Among the projects in his pipeline are "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage," "The Fast and the Furious 6," "The Machine" and an untitled "Chronicles of Riddick" sequel.
It's unknown if Diesel was already dreaming of being an actor a break-dancing rapper at the time of this yearbook photo. That's right -- before he was the man driving stolen cars at breakneck speeds, Diesel was known as Mark Sinclair, one of countless New Yorkers who fancied...

After the kid-friendly movie The Pacifier, it seemed like Vin Diesel would never been seen again in the action movie world. The success of Fast & Furious and the even bigger success of Fast Five ensured he still has a career in the genre, but Diesel is returning to the family-friendly territory in a film that sounds like a live action version of The Iron Giant (in which he provided the voice for the title character). When an outright bad pairing take the reigns for two wonky screenwriters on a movie about a Vin Diesel-portrayed robot who acts as the emotional uplift of a child? Keep up a happy face and continue your day. Nevertheless, Deadline reports that Alfred Gough and Miles Millar (I Am Number Four, TV’s Smallville) will pen a new draft of The Machine; Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant had written the original script, which attracted Diesel and, possibly, director Peter Segal. (The latter is not mentioned in Deadline’s story, however. Perhaps his talks fell through.)
The former’s incarnation — which I don’t expect to change all too greatly — revolved around a government-designed robot that was built to be “the world’s first true ultimate weapon.” Despite being put out of commission for around twenty years, a young boy uncovers him, using the creature as both a toy and friend.

Get Smart director Peter Segal is in talks with MGM to direct the Vin Diesel action film The Machine. The movie is based on an "original concept" written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant. In the story Diesel plays "a human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world's first true ultimate weapon. Two decades after the government halted the project for unknown reasons, a child finds and befriends the machine."
Children befriending robots is nothing new, but it will be interesting to see what kind of story they build around the concept. Segal's already attached to direct a couple of other projects, so who knows if he will be able to take this on. As of right now he's attached to develop Grudge Match and Bleach for Warner Bros. If he does end up taking on The Machine it probably wont happen until he's finished developing those projects.

Diesel will star in the action comedy "The Machine," which he'll also produce under his One Race Productions banner for MGM, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
An original script by "Reno 911" madmen Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant (who also penned Diesel's hit "The Pacifier"), the story centers around "a human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world's first true ultimate weapon. Twenty years after the project was buried and decommissioned for reasons unknown, The Machine is discovered by a kid who befriends him. When the government learns it has been reactivated, the Machine must protect the family harboring him."
Is it just us, or does this plot more-than-a-little resemble that of "The Iron Giant," Brad Bird's 1999 animated classic...

Last year, we wrote about how Fast and Furious star Vin Diesel was planning to take a road trip back into the realm of action comedy with a movie called The Machine. Diesel will star as the titular secret government weapon who is discovered and befriended by a little boy 20 years after the project has been shut down, and now Variety reports the project has found a director. Get Smart helmer Peter Segal will take the reins, which seems like a good fit for the family-friendly tone they're aiming for here. Sounds like Brad Bird's The Iron Giant to me, in which Diesel voiced an indestructible robot also befriended by a young boy. The screenplay was written by Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, the minds behind Night at the Museum and Action No. 1, the awesome-sounding story of comic book theft based on Nicolas Cage's real life.

Tough guy Vin Diesel, last seen driving toughly in the “Fast and Furious” franchise and currently battling mercenaries toughly in the latest “Pitch Black” movie, is planning to play a tough guy in “The Machine”. The film was announced last year with Diesel as the star, and now it looks like the movie might have a director. Maybe. The film, which sounds like something you would find in a videostore back in the ’80s starring Don “The Dragon” Wilson or one of those interchangeable action stars of the ’80s, would find Diesel playing a Pentagon-created ultimate killing machine who gets mothballed, only to resurface 20 years later when a kid discovers it. Good times and pancakes in the morning ensue. Or maybe not. Depending on if this is a kiddie movie or an action flick, I guess. The latest news on the movie has “Get Smart” director Peter Segal possibly boarding the movie to direct.

If you thought MGM’s only reason for existing nowadays was to violate your childhood memories by remaking every popular title that they currently own the rights to, you’re not far off. Though surprisingly, the studio is still in the business of making original films, but it appears that branch of the studio seems to be less active than the one in charge of tarnishing your precious childhood memories of your favorite movies. One of MGM’s new, original titles is the totally generic sounding, B-movie level sci-fi actioner “The Machine”, which would star Vin Diesel as one of those “ultimate killing machine” type created by the United States Guv’ment for purposes unknown. This time around, the machine is discovered and befriended by a boy two decades after it was put on mothballs. Basically, “The Pacifier” Part 2. The latest news on “The Machine” has “Get Smart” director Peter Segal possibly boarding the project,...

Although still reeling from the failed domestic launch of “Battleship,” Universal still believes in the premise of toys-as-movies, and has entered negotiations to acquire the rights to Lego's robotic toy line Hero Factory. The writing duo behind 2010’s “Predators,” Michael Finch and Alex Litvak, will pen the script. [THR]

A little over a year ago we reported that Vin Diesel had attached himself to produce and star in a flick called The Machine from writers Ben & Robert Garant and Thomas Lennon (The Pacifier), one which dealt with the story of a "human-like machine created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world's first true ultimate weapon. Update: MGM has hired Peter Segal (Get Smart) to direct Vin Diesel's action-comedy The Machine. Segal is a comedy director, having also helmed the Adam Sandler films The Longest Yard, 50 First Dates and Anger Management. However, Segal has other film commitments (Bleach, Grudge Match) so it looks like The Machine will just have to get in line.
May 20, 2011 --Vin Diesel (Fast Five) will star in and produce the action-comedy The Machine for MGM. That all sounds like a normal next project for action star Diesel. Hold on to your socks, though: the script was written by Thomas Lennon (17 Again) and Robert Ben Garant, the guys/writers/creators of "Reno 911!" Is it just me or did this project just get interesting?
The Machine is about a man-machine (think the Bionic Man) created by the Pentagon but abandoned and buried. Twenty years later, a kid discovers and befriends it. Diesel's...

As announced last year, in between Fast 6 and Riddick, an unnamed project by the Unknown writers and his long-cherished Hannibal epic, Vin Diesel is making time for a family-friendly adventure. And it looks as if The Machine may now have a director, in Peter Segal.Diesel is producing as well as starring in the film, which sees him play a Pentagon-created ultimate weapon who's been mothballed for twenty years but is accidentally reactivated by a young boy who becomes his new best friend. Cue said terminator finding a family and deciding he wants to be nice, just as the bad old government realises an ultimate weapon is just what it needs. Yes indeed, it's The Iron Giant And The Hendersons. The Machine's writers are Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon, who were responsible for Vin's The Pacifier. And no, it isn’t Michael Bay.
I look at Vin Diesel as being somewhat akin to Sylvester Stallone, in that he started out his career with well-regarded work in a few (in terms relative to his later work) “serious projects,” only to make a severe and conscious decision to assemble a dossier littered with meathead machine-gun flicks, with the occasional half-baked family comedy thrown in as chump bait.
Like Stallone, Terrell Owens, and the latter-day Orson Welles, Vin Diesel is quite strictly a paycheck player: a highly visible, somewhat bankable figure who will sell a baseline number of tickets (or DVDs) no matter how shitty the project, but who, at best, pays only lip service to the notion of a quality finished product. And it’s the baseline, not necessarily the bottom line, that keeps the lights in the Redbox lit.

You’ve very likely forgotten by this point, but Vin Diesel does, sometimes, act in films that aren’t installments in start-of-the-millennium franchises; now, though, an essentially confirmed return will allow him to step outside those safety zones for a bit. Case in point: Variety reports that he’ll be leading The Machine, a family-centered actioner that Peter Segal (Get Smart) has entered tentative negotiations to direct.
Robert Ben Garant and Thomas Lennon (Reno! 911, Night at the Museum) wrote and will produce the film, which revolves around a titular, government-designed weapon that was built to be “the world’s first true ultimate weapon.” After he’s put out of commission for around twenty years, a young boy uncovers him and, if history serves us correctly, uses him as both a toy and friend. Oh, God… I can already map out the narrative arc and it is not pretty.

"Get Smart" director Peter Segal is in early talks to helm the Vin Diesel actioner "The Machine" for MGM says Variety.
Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant penned the script about a human-like machine (Vin Diesel) created in secrecy by the Pentagon as the world's first true ultimate weapon.
Two decades after the government halted the project for unknown reasons, a child finds and befriends "The Machine." Michael Ewing, Marc Platt, Lennon and Garant are producing.
Segal remains attached to a number of projects like "Grudge Match" and "Bleach," at least one of which will likely be done before work begins on 'Machine'.

Peter Segal is in early talks to direct The Machine starring Vin Diesel as a machine created by the Pentagon as the world's first real ultimate weapon. Story moves to twenty years after his creation when the government froze the project for some or other reason, and a child now makes pals with it. Smell anything like Terminator meets Universal Soldier? However, Variety reports that sources caution this news as Segal is attached to various projects right now, including Warner Bros. Pictures' Grudge Match, and Bleach, which he is also attached as a producer on.

Since production began on the third instalment in the Riddick franchise back in January, Vin Diesel has been treating us to a handful of images from the set, and with production now almost complete (it feels awesome to write that!), he’s got two more for us of himself with his writer-director, David Twohy.
In the spirit of sharing with his fans, both come from Diesel himself via his Facebook, having shared plenty of things over the course of pre-production and filming itself, from concept art throughout last year to updates on how the project was (slowly but surely) developing.
As usual, each of the two new photos came with a little description, first for the green-screen shot:
“Dreamers…
Have a good weekend.”
And for the darker image:
“On set Riddick production still…
Proud of my director… when you see this film, you’ll know why…

When we enter the Beverly Wilshire suite where A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas star Tom Lennon is awaiting Movie Fanatic, he is brandishing a hand-sized water sprayer pointed right at me. With comics as talented as Lennon who handle deadpan like Michael Jordan worked a basketball, you never know -- is he serious about spraying me with it? Is this a joke? Could it be both?
Lennon stars in A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Christmas as the new best friend of Harold (John Cho), who is estranged from his former best friend Kumar (Kal Penn) for several years.
Tom Lennon is widely known from his days on The State and Reno: 911, but what is not known too much about the man is he is a prolific screenwriter (Night at the Museum and its sequel, Vin Diesel’s The Pacifier, Balls of Fury).

While staying busy with Fast Five and the other films in the Fast & Furious franchise, Vin Diesel has been trying to get a third Riddick movie off the ground. Now, there’s a good chance it will happen, but it will require a big sacrifice from Diesel.
It was a major letdown to discover that Vin Diesel might be following up Fast Five by taking a stroll down comedy lane in The Machine, but the muscle man thankfully isn’t shying away from action films altogether. Diesel recently posted the cool pic above along with some interesting information on his Facebook page:

Vin Diesel is one celebrity who has embraced social media, using his Facebook page to talk to fans and ask them their opinions on his upcoming projects. Diesel even refers to his Facebook account as "Our page," even though he likely is the only one allowed to make administrative changes.
Now that Diesel has the hugely successful Fast Five currently in theaters, the actor already has a couple projects lined up: The Machine, which starts shooting this fall, and a third installment in the Riddick series, which began with 2000's Pitch Black and continued with 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick.
Diesel spoke about Riddick 3 on his Facebook page as early as August of 2009, when he revealed that a third installment was all "about rating" with both Diesel and writer/director David Twohy wanting an R-rating for the next Riddick movie. Last we heard about Vin Diesel taking on a project that wasn't Fast and/or Furious related it was The Machine, a family action-comedy from the same people that brought you The Pacifier. For fans excited by what they saw in Fast Five and the potential for the actor to become an Arnold Schwarzenegger-level action star, the news was quite disheartening. Fortunately this news might help bring some of the energy back into the room. Diesel recently posted a new photo on his Facebook wall that came with an interesting message that indicates we may see another Riddick movie sooner than later. I am, of course, referring to the character originated by Diesel in the 2000 film Pitch Black that was followed by a sequel, The Chronicles of Riddick, in 2004. The actor has been trying to get a third film off the ground for years but has regularly faced resistance...

According to Deadline, Diesel took advantage of his super-sized clout and joined the MGM project The Machine as both its star and its producer through his One Race Films shingle.
